Glassbreak Detector Troubleshooting
Your glassbreak detector is designed to sense the sound of breaking glass. This troubleshooting information
refers to the FlexGuard 5853.

Troubleshooting the FlexGuard 5853 Glassbreak Detector:
Condition Green LED Red LED
Power Up ON 1 second ON 1 second
Test Mode Flash once per second OFF
Test Mode (Event Detected) Flicker OFF
Test Mode (Alarm) Flash once per second ON 5 seconds
Low Battery (Refer to the Glassbreak Detector
Battery Replacement page) Flash once per second Flash once per second
Detector Powering Up Red and green LED will blink together four times,
once every 10 seconds.
Testing the Detector
The detector should be tested at least once per year. Test the detector with a glassbreak simulator. A
glassbreak simulator is an electronic device that replicates the sound of breaking glass.
To enter the test mode with glassbreak simulator:
1. Stand within 15 feet of the detector.
2. Turn on the glassbreak simulator.
3. Point the front speaker of the glassbreak simulator towards the detector and press the red START
button.
When the detector enters Test Mode, the green LED on the detector flashes about once per second. If
the green LED does not flash, move closer to the detector and repeat the procedure.
