HD-DVR-1004, HD-DVR-1008 &
HD-DVR-1016 Quick Start Guide
HDD Installation
This series DVR has only one SATA HDD. Please use HDD of 7200rpm or higher. You can refer to
the User’s Manual for recommended HDD brand. Please follow the instructions below to install hard
disk.
1. Loosen the screws of the upper cover and
side panel.
2. Fix four screws in the HDD (Turn just
three rounds).
3. Place the HDD in accordance with the four
holes in the bottom.
4. Turn the device upside down and then
turn the screws in firmly.
5. Fix the HDD firmly. 6. Connect the HDD cable and power cable.
7. Put the cover in accordance with the clip
and then place the upper cover back.
8. Secure the screws in the rear panel and
the side panel.
Login
After system booted up, you can login the DVR through the interface below.
Input the following Username and Password:
1. Username: admin. Password: admin. (administrator, local and network)
2. Username: 888888. Password: 888888. (administrator, local only)
About input method: Click to switch between numeral, English character (small/capitalized)
and denotation.
Main Menu
After you logged in, the system main menu is shown as the following figure.
There are total six icons: search, information, setting, backup, advanced and shutdown.
You can move the cursor to highlight the icon, and then double click mouse to enter the sub-menu.
Logout
There are two ways for you to log out. The first one is from menu option. Click Shutdown button, you
can see an interface is shown as the figure. The other way is to press Power button on the front
panel for at least 3 seconds, system will stop all operations and turn off the DVR. Before you replace
the HDD, do remember shutting down the device and unplug the power cable.
Live Viewing
After you logged in, the system is in live viewing mode by default. You can see system date, time and
channel name. If you want to change system date and time, you can refer to general settings (Main
MenuSettingGeneral). If you want to modify the channel name, please refer to the display
settings (Main MenuSettingDisplay)

Manual Record
Right click the mouse or in the main menu, from AdvancedManual Record to go to record
interface.
There are three statuses: Schedule/Manual/Closed. Highlight icon ○to select corresponding
channel.
•Manual: The highest priority. After manual setup, all selected channels will begin ordinary
recording.
•Schedule: After select Schedule mode, you should set schedule (Main
MenuSettingSchedule) to let DVR record during the time you like.
•Closed: All channels stop recording.
Schedule
In the main menu, from Setting to Schedule, you can go to schedule menu. There are total six
periods.
•Channel: Please select the channel number first. You can select all if you want to set for the
whole channels.
•Week day: There are eight options: ranges from Saturday to Sunday and all.
•Pre-record: System can pre-record the video before the event occurs into the file. The value
ranges from 1 to 30 seconds depending on the bit stream.
•Snapshot: You can enable this function to snapshot image when alarm occurs.
•Record types: There are four types: Regular, Motion Detection (MD), Alarm, MD&Alarm.
MD&Alarm means MD and alarm occur at the same time.
Please highlight icon to select the corresponding function. After completing all the setups please
click save button, system goes back to the previous menu.
At the bottom of the menu, there are color bars for your reference. Green color stands for regular
recording, yellow color stands for motion detection and red color stands for alarm recording. The blue
color means the MD and alarm record is valid.

Channel 1: D1/CIF/QCIF(1-25/30fps)
Channel 2-4: CIF/QCIF(1-25/30fps), D1(1-6/7fps)
Extra stream: QCIF(1-25/30fps),CIF(1-6/7fps)
HD-DVR-1008 Main Stream:
Channel 1: D1/CIF/QCIF (1~25/30fps);
Channel 2~8: CIF/QCIF (1~25/30fps), D1 (1~6/7fps)
HD-DVR-1016 Main stream:
Channel 1&9: D1/CIF/QCIF(1-25/30fps)
Other channels: D1(1-6/7fps), CIF/QCIF(1-25/30fps)
Extra stream: QCIF(1-25/30fps), CIF(1-6/7fps)
Search and Playback
Click search button in the main menu, search interface is shown as below. Usually there are three file
types:
•R: Regular recording file.
•A: External alarm recording file.
•M: Motion detection recording file.

Network Setup
•IP address: Here you can input IP address manually.Uncheck DHCP for static IP setting.
Enter the IP information that you get from your network administrator.
•DHCP: It is auto search IP function. When enable DHCP function, so you do not need to
manually input the IP address. Your router will assign the IP address automatically.
•Max connection: system support maximal 20 users.
Please note that 0 means network connection is disabled and you cannot visit this DVR from IE
website.
•Advanced setting: Please refer to the user’s manual included in the resource CD for detailed
information.
After completing all the setups please click save button, system goes back to the previous menu.
Pan/Tilt/Zoom
PTZ Setup
The PAN/TILT/ZOOM setup includes the following items. Please select channel first.
•Protocol: Select corresponding PTZ protocol such as PELCOD.
•Address: Input corresponding PTZ address.
After completing all the setups please click save button, system goes back to the previous menu.
PTZ Operation
In one window display mode, right click mouse (press Fn button in the front panel or press Fn key in
the remote control) and select Pan/Tilt/Zoom you will enter the PTZ menu.
Click Pan/Tilt/Zoom, the interface is shown as below. Here you can set the following items:
Click icon and to adjust Zoom, Focus and Iris. Please click direction arrows to adjust
PTZ position. When are total 8 direction arrows. Please note if you use remote control, you can use
just four directions (Up/down/left/right). The speed value ranges from 1 to 8. Here is a sheet for you
reference.

You can click Set button (or press REC button in the front panel) to set preset, tour, and pattern.
You can click Page Switch button (or press Fn button in the front panel) to call main function.
Web Operation
Login
Open IE and input DVR address in the address column. For example, if your DVR IP is 192.168.1.16,
then please input http://192.168.1.16 in IE address column. Default Username is admin and
Password is admin.
Main Window
After you logged in, you can see the main window.
Click the channel name on the left side; you can view the real-time video.
