This manual provides you, as user of our product, with key information on the operation
and maintenance of the equipment.
It will help you to familiarise yourself with the product and assist you in obtaining
maximum benefit in the applications for which it is designed.
This documentation must always be kept at hand.
Please note that the the specifications given in this documentation regarding the
instrument technology were correct at the time of publishing. Modifications to technical
specifications, illustrations and dimensions are therefore possible.

1 General
If you have any queries regarding technical details or the suitability of the unit for your application,
please contact our Technical Sales Department. The HDA 4700 Bluetooth 4.0 LE pressure
transmitter series are individually tested and calibrated at a computer operated test station. They
are maintenance-free and operate perfectly when used according to the data (see Technical Data).
However, if there is a cause for complaint, please contact HYDAC Service. Interference by anyone
other than HYDAC personnel will invalidate all warranty claims including the ATEX and IECEx
approvals.
2 Exclusion of liability
These operating instructions were made to the best of our knowledge. Nevertheless and despite
the greatest care, it cannot be excluded that mistakes could have crept in. Therefore please
understand that in the absence of any provisions to the contrary hereinafter our warranty and
liability –for any legal reasons whatsoever –are excluded in respect of the information in this
instruction manual.
In particular, we shall not be liable for lost profit or other financial loss. This exclusion of liability
does not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence. Moreover, it does not apply to defects which
have been deceitfully concealed or whose absence has been guaranteed, nor in cases of culpable
harm to life, physical injury and damage to health. If we negligently breach any material contractual
obligation, our liability shall be limited to foreseeable damage. Claims due to the product liability
shall remain unaffected.
In cases where the translation is used, the text of the original German Operating Instructions shall
prevail.
3 Function
The pressure signal measured by the sensor is converted internally into a pressure proportional
signal. This can be either received using the configurable measuring rate via bluetooth or recorded
in the sensor. Once the recording has terminated, it can be transmitted via the bluetooth interface.
The power supply is provided by two AA batteries.
4 Installation and commissioning
The pressure transmitters can be mounted directly on the process side via their threaded
connection. Please ensure that the membrane is protected from mechanical damage during
installation.
In order to prevent mechanical damage when dealing with critical applications involving heavy
vibrations or blows, for example, we recommend securing the unit with an elastomer clamp and
decoupling the hydraulic ports via a Minimess hose.
Tightening torque, see Dimensions.
Pressure transmitters provide for pressure equalisation with the ambient pressure. A small bore
hole for this purpose is located in the centre of the battery cover. The connector is covered by a
special membrane from the inside which prevents moisture from seeping into the unit from the
outside. In order to prevent the bore hole from becoming clogged, mounting should be carried out
in a suitable way to protect the hole from contamination due to humid and dusty environmental
conditions.
Connection must be carried out by a properly qualified specialist in accordance with the regulations
pertaining to potentially explosive atmospheres (e.g. IEC / EN 60079-14).

The pressure transmitters series carry the - mark. The declaration of conformity can be found in
the annex.
The requirements of the standards (see Technical Data) cannot be satisfied unless the pressure
transmitter housing is properly grounded via the mechanical connection. When using hose
mounting the housing has to be grounded separately.
4.1 Batteries
When using the pressure transmitter in potentially explosive atmospheres, no
other batteries than the below listed may be used:

4.2 Battery replacement
Batteries may only be replaced if a potentially explosive atmosphere can be fully
excluded.
Do not dispose of the used batteries with the general garbage, recycle or dispose
of the batteries safely and properly according to locally valid laws and
regulations.
Loosen the four screws of the battery cover (2.5 mm hex socket) and remove the cover.
Used batteries may only be replaced in pairs.

Replace the batteries and close the cover by fastening the fixing screws. Each of the four fixing
screws should be tightened by using a torque of 0.7 Nm.

5 Safety
5.1 General
Before commissioning, check the device and all accessories supplied. Before commissioning,
please read the operating instructions. Ensure that the instrument is suitable for your application.
The pressure transmitter may no longer be used when the label becomes
illegible.
The pressure transmitters may only be operated using the battery type specified in chapter 4.1.
The seals and gaskets need to be checked to see that they function properly prior to mounting and
at regular intervals in keeping with the climatic conditions and the influence of the media, and to be
changed as needed. Replacement seals and gaskets can be obtained from HYDAC
ELECTRONIC GMBH. (Standard seal see Technical Data) This check is to be performed at least
every three years.
Apart from the replaceable seals and gaskets or replaceable batteries, the pressure transmitter
does not have any further components requiring maintenance by the user. Apart from opening the
battery cover, the user may not open the device.
It is imperative to ensure that the measurement fluid is compatible with the materials used with the
pressure transmitter; similarly, the overload pressures and burst pressures must be adhered to
without fail (for these specifications, see the "Technical Data" and "Safety Information" of the EC
type examination certificate).
It is absolutely necessary to protect the internal measurement membrane of the pressure
transmitter against mechanical damage.
The data pertaining for the use in hazardous locations is to be heeded in any event.
Operation is only permitted if operational and process-related intensive electrostatic charges have
been eliminated.
When used in atmospheres containing combustible dusts, the pressure transmitter
has to be installed in such a way that it is protected from damage and knocks.
If the instrument is not handled correctly, or if the operating instructions and specifications are not
adhered to, damage to property and/or personal injury can result.
5.2 Intended use / foreseeable misuse
Claims for defects or liability, regardless of the legal foundation, do not apply with incorrect or
improper installation, commissioning, usage, handling, storage, maintenance, repair, use of
unsuitable components or other circumstances, which the manufacturer is not responsible for.
The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for determining the interfaces for installation in a
system or the installation, use or functionality of the product in this system.
5.3 Responsibility of the operator before start-up
In accordance with the EC Machinery Directive, the measuring system of a component is
considered to be a machine part for the installation into a system/machine. Moreover, the
conformity of the measuring system was investigated in respect of the EMC Directive.
It is therefore only permitted to start up the measuring system if it has been established that the
system/machine into which the measuring system is to be fitted, satisfies the provisions of the EC
Machinery Directive, the EC EMC Directive, the harmonised standards, European standards or the
corresponding national standards.

5.4 Personnel selection and qualification; fundamental responsibilities
•All work on the measuring system must be carried out by qualified personnel only.
•Qualified personnel includes persons, who, through their training, experience and instruction,
as well as their knowledge of the relevant standards, provisions, accident prevention
regulations and operating conditions, were authorized by the persons responsible for the
system to carry out the required work and are able to recognise and prevent from potential
hazards.
•The definition of “Qualified Personnel” also includes an understanding of the standards VDE
0105-100 and IEC 364 (source: e.g. Beuth Verlag GmbH, VDE-Verlag GmbH).
•Clear rules of responsibilities for the assembly, installation, start-up and operation have to be
defined. It is obligatory to provide supervision for trainee personnel!
5.5 Organisational measures
•The user manual must always be kept accessible at the place of use of the measuring system.
•In addition to the user manual, generally applicable legal and other binding accident
prevention and environmental protection regulations must be paid attention to and must be
mediated.
•The respective applicable national, local and system-specific provisions and requirements
must be paid attention to and mediated.
•It is mandatory for the operator to inform personnel on special operating features and
requirements.
•The personnel instructed to work with the measuring system must have read and understood
the user manual, especially the chapter 5 Safety, prior to commencing work.
•The nameplates and any prohibition or instruction symbols applied on the measuring system
must always be maintained in a legible state.
•Repairs may only be undertaken by the manufacturer or a facility or person authorised by the
manufacturer.
6 Transportation, Packaging, Storage
6.1 Transportation
The HDA 4700 Bluetooth 4.0 LE Sensor is supplied in a rugged cardboard box.
When receiving and unpacking, make sure the item has been delivered in full and look out for any
possible transport damage. If present, immediately show it to the shipper.
6.2 Packaging
Do not remove the packing until you are ready to install the unit.
Keep the packing of the device for eventual reuse in case of transport (changing application areas)
or re-storage, it provides the best protection for the device.
6.3 Storage
Information on the permitted environmental conditions at the place of storage can be found in
chapter 8 Technical Data.

7 Disposal
If the measuring system has to be disposed after expiry of its life cycle, the corresponding national
regulations are applicable.

1 Allgemeines
Falls Sie Fragen bezüglich der technischen Daten oder Eignung für Ihre Anwendungen haben,
wenden Sie sich bitte an unseren technischen Vertrieb. Die Druckmessumformer der Serie
HDA 4700 Bluetooth 4.0 LE werden auf rechnergesteuerten Prüfplätzen abgeglichen und einem
Endtest unterzogen. Sie sind wartungsfrei und sollten beim Einsatz innerhalb der Spezifikationen
(siehe Technische Daten) einwandfrei arbeiten. Falls trotzdem Fehler auftreten, wenden Sie sich
bitte an den HYDAC-Service. Fremdeingriffe in das Gerät führen zum Erlöschen jeglicher
Gewährleistungsansprüche sowie der ATEX und IECEx-Zulassung.

3 Funktion
Das vom Sensor gemessene Drucksignal wird intern in ein dem Druck proportionales Signal
umgewandelt. Dieses kann entweder mit einer einstellbaren Messrate via Bluetooth empfangen
oder im Sensor aufgezeichnet werden. Nach dem Ende der Aufzeichnung kann diese dann über
die Bluetooth-Schnittstelle übertragen werden. Die Energieversorgung erfolgt mittels zweier AA-
Batterien.
4 Montage und Inbetriebnahme
Die Druckmessumformer können auf Prozess-Seite direkt über den Gewindeanschluss montiert
werden. Es ist bei der Montage darauf zu achten, dass die Membrane während der Montage nicht
beschädigt wird.
Um in kritischen Anwendungsfällen (z.B. starke Vibrationen oder Schläge) einer mechanischen
Zerstörung vorzubeugen, empfehlen wir das Gerät mittels einer Schelle mit Elastomereinsatz zu
befestigen, sowie den Hydraulikanschluss über eine Minimessleitung zu entkoppeln.
Anzugsdrehmoment siehe Abmessungen.
Die Druckmessumformer besitzen einen Druckausgleich zum Umgebungsdruck. Hierzu befindet
sich in der Mitte des Batteriedeckels eine kleine Bohrung. Diese ist von innen mit einer speziellen
Membrane abgedeckt, die verhindert, dass Feuchtigkeit von außen in das Gerät eindringen kann.
Um eine Verstopfung der Bohrung zu verhindern, sollte diese bei feuchter und staubhaltiger
Umgebung auf geeignete Art und Weise vor Verschmutzungen geschützt werden.
Die Installation muss von einem Fachmann nach den jeweiligen Landesvorschriften zu potentiell
explosionsgefährdeten Umgebungen durchgeführt werden (z.B. IEC / EN 60079-14).

Die Druckmessumformer tragen das - Zeichen. Die Konformitätserklärung befindet sich im
Anhang.
Die Forderungen der Normen (siehe techn. Daten) werden nur bei ordnungsgemäßer und
fachmännischer Erdung des Druckmessumformergehäuses mittels des Prozessanschlusses
erreicht. Bei Schlauchmontage des Druckmessumformers muss das Gehäuse separat geerdet
werden.
4.1 Batterien
Zur Verwendung des Druckmessumformers in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen
ist ausschließlich die Verwendung folgender Batterien erlaubt:

4.2 Batteriewechsel
Batterien dürfen nur ausgetauscht werden wenn keine explosionsgefährdete
Atmosphäre vorhanden ist!
Entsorgen Sie verbrauchte Batterien nicht im normalen Müll, sondern führen Sie
diese dem Recycling zu und beachten Sie die jeweils geltenden
landesspezifischen Vorschriften.
Lösen Sie die vier Befestigungsschrauben des Batteriefach-Deckels (2,5 mm Innensechskant) und
entfernen Sie den Deckel.
Verbrauchte Batterien dürfen ausschließlich paarweise durch neue Zellen ersetzt
werden.

Tauschen Sie die Batterien aus, schließen Sie den Deckel wieder und fixieren Sie den Deckel mit
den Befestigungsschrauben. Für die vier Befestigungsschrauben ist jeweils ein
Anzugsdrehmoment von 0,7 Nm vorgesehen.
