9) You will need to drive your vehicle to a place where you can safely make two counter-
clockwise circles.
10) When ready put the mirror in the automatic compass calibration mode (follow steps 1-8).
11) The timer will start counting up from 00. Do not move the vehicle until the timer
reaches 20. Once the timer reaches 20 start to drive and make two counter-clockwise
circles but do not go over 5 MPH, this is important.
12) Once you have completed the two counter-clockwise circles push the Power button to
store the calibration and exit the Settings and Calibration mode.
At this point all changes have been saved.
VIII. Troubleshooting
Q: The Green light never comes on or the compass/temperature doesn’t show
A: Check your power and ground connections. Check for a blown fuse. Check to see if the
harness came unplugged from the mirror.
Q: The Green light is on so I know I have power but I do not see any video from my backup
camera
A: Check the power connection to the camera. Make sure when the vehicle is in Reverse there
is power to the backup camera. Also check the video connection at the camera and the
mirror.
Q: Are there other mirror mounts available for different vehicles?
A: Yes there are. Please contact your place of purchase for more details.
The TE-RVMTC is a replacement rear view mirror that has a 4.3” TFT screen built in for viewing
backup camera video or any other video sources with a composite video output. The mirror
comes with the most widely used mirror mount to fit many vehicles, or it can use the optional
mirror brackets which are sold separately (Check with your place of purchase for these
optional brackets). Two temperature sensors, one for the exterior and one for interior of the
vehicle, are included with each mirror. There is a led on the bottom of the mirror with an on/off
switch on the back of the mirror to provide added light.
II. Specifications
Rearview Monitor Sensor Screen Size: 4.3”
Display Screen: TFT-LCD Display Resolution: 480(H)XRGBX272(V)
Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Power Consumption: ≤2W
Power Supply: DC12V Signal System: PAL/AUTO/NTSC
Video Input: AV1 to VCD/DVD (defaulted) Brightness: 250cd/m²
AV2 to backup camera Contrast Ratio: 300:1
III. Installation
Rearview Mirror
1) Remove the existing mirror from the vehicle.
2a) If the OEM mirror has the D style mounting tab on the windshield (most common
mounting tab) then mount the mirror and continue to step 3.
2b) If the OEM mirror has any other style mount than the D style mounting tab, please contact
your place of purchase about optional mounts.
3) After mirror has been mounted, route wire harness down to connect power, ground and the
backup camera/video source. Be careful when routing the harness so it does not interfere
with any side curtain airbags or gets pinched when reinstalling any interior parts needed to
take off when routing harness. Neatly route it from the mirror to the headliner.
IV. Connection
1) Connect the RED wire to the +12 volt reverse wire of the vehicle.
2) Connect the BLACK wire to ground (a metal, non-painted surface).
3) Connect the GREEN wire to the reverse trigger wire (RED wire coming from YELLOW video
rca) on camera. (The rearview mirror uses this to sense reverse and transmits a video signal
to the mirror).
4) Temp 1: For the interior temperature sensor. The interior temperature sensor is 8 feet long
and should be installed somewhere in the interior of the vehicle away from the a/c vents.
Please be sure to avoid any moving parts of the interior like the steering column or power
seats.
5) Temp 2: For the exterior temperature sensor. The exterior temperature sensor is 14 feet long
and should be installed somewhere by the front grille away from the heat of the engine.
Please be sure to secure the temperature sensor wiring so it does not get caught in any
moving parts of the engine.
6) Camera input (Black rca plug): Connect the video output of the backup camera to this
input. The backup camera input takes priority so when a video signal is sensed it will be
displayed automatically.
7) Video input (Yellow rca plug): Connect the video output of a game system, DVD player, or
any other video source to this input. This video input is secondary to the Camera input; if
there is a video signal on the Camera input, the Camera input will be displayed then when
the signal is gone the Video input will come back on.
V. Setup
1) Turn the ignition on.
2) The TE-RVMTC will have the temperature/compass come on after pushing the Power
button on (the green light will come on signifying the mirror is turned on).
3) If a video source (DVD player, gaming system, etc…) is connected to the Video input, turn
that source on and verify there is video in the mirror.
4) For backup camera testing purposes, set the emergency brake then put the vehicle in
Reverse. The backup camera video should now be seen on the mirror.
5) Put the vehicle back in Park and the backup camera video should be gone and the video
from the Video input should be seen (if connected), otherwise the screen will be off.
VI. Using the Power button
1) The Power button turns the temperature/compass feature on and off.
2) There are 4 display options for the temperature/compass display in the mirror. To change
between the 4 display options, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds until the
display blinks once then release. The display options are:
-1) Displays temperature of Temp 1 sensor (interior temperature)
-2) Displays temperature of Temp 2 sensor (exterior sensor; display flashes)
-3) Displays Compass
-4) Alternates automatically between Temp1, Temp 2, and Compass displays
VII. Settings and Calibration
Below are the steps to change temperature settings and calibrate the compass. You will
need to go through all three of the steps for the settings to be saved even if you only want to
change one:
Temperature settings
The temperature can be changed from Celsius to Fahrenheit through the following steps:
1) Press and hold the Power button for more then 8 seconds to enter the Settings and
Calibration menu, and then release it.
2) There will be two dashes (--) then CF will be displayed with either a ºF or a ºC.
3) Push the Power button to select either Celsius to Fahrenheit.
4) Once selected, push and hold the power button for 3 seconds then release to go to
manually calibrate the compass.
Manually calibrating the compass
5) Now a (H-) will be displayed, this is for manually calibrating the compass by entering
the Magnetic Declination of your area. This will be a value between -25º ~ +25º. If you
do not know the value, you can find it at www.magnetic-declination.com and enter your
location.
6) After the (H-) is displayed tap the Power button until the correct Magnetic Declination
value of your area is shown.
7) Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds then release to go to go to automatically
calibrate the compass.
Automatically calibrate the compass
8) An (A-) will be shown then a timer will start counting from 00 going up. This is the
automatic compass calibration mode.
8a) If you entered the Magnetic Declination value in Step 5 all you need to do now is push
the Power button once before the timer reaches 20 and that will exit the Settings and
Calibration mode.
8b) If you did not enter the Magnetic Declination value in Step 5 you will need to use the
automatic compass calibration mode.
