Setting up the 9860

After about ve seconds, the
screen will switch over to the live mode,
which should show a live reading, such as
"000.00" and the LEDs to the right turn
o󰀨. The decimal point setting may be
dierent on your indicator. We will
be setting this in upcoming steps.
Next, to turn on the 9860, simply plug in the
power cord and it will start immediately.
Before powering up the 9860, be sure to
connect your sensor(s) with the transducer.
The rst thing you will see are all of the
LEDS light up at the front and to the right
with the screen reading its release number.

For our rst step, we will set the
calibration in "CAL" mode.
Using the ▲ and ▼ buttons, enter:
" ▲ + ▼ + ▲"
Immediately after entering the correct
code, you will be brought the
next screen (Step 5).
Using the ▲ or ▼ buttons, set it to "On 1"
Begin by pressing the MODE button to the
far left. Before we can start making our
settings we'll rst be required to enter
a code, as shown below:
Before actually calibrating our sensor, we
will enter a series of settings by going
through the MODE screens.

From here on, press the ▲ and / or ▼
buttons to cycle through your options as
they are presented to you in each mode.

set the decimal point.

Least Signicant Digit in "LSD" mode.

Again, in this demo, we are working
with 100lbf, so we enter "0100.00". The
decimal point may not be showing here but
it will in the end, so remember where you
placed it. In this example, "10000"
is actually "100.00".
Press MODE. Here, we will input the
number for the FS (Full-Scale), which sets
the analog output to 10VDC to match the
weight value entered here.

Mode, this does not apply to this calibration
method. So we will leave this unchanged.

all of our preparatory settings in place.

For demonstration purposes, we will apply
a simulated load of 2mV/V for the 9860 as
though 100 lbf was applied to a load cell
having a max capacity of 100 lbf.
