DISASSEMBLY
Removetheendcoverscrews,lock
washersand
endcover.
RemovetheendcoverO-ring
lrom
the
O-ring
groove.
Withalarge
pair
ofwater
pump
pliers,grasp
thehuboftheimpellerandusinga
rotarymotion
pull
itfromiheimpellerbore.Remove
thecamscrew,camscrewO-ringand
cam. Re-
movethe
wearplatefrom
thebottom
oitheimpeller
bore.Withapair
of
retainingring
pliers
reach
throughtheimpellerbo'eand.emove
theseal
positioning
retainingring
from
theshaft.
Slidethe
sealspacerofftheshaft.
Withahooked,stitt
probe,
reachintothesealboreand
pull
the
rubber/
carbon
portion
ofthesealofftheshaft.
Thenwith
the
same
Drobe
itshouldbe
oossible
toreach
betweenthe
wetendofthe
pump
andthebearing
housing
and
push
theceramic
portion
oftheseal
forwardintotheimpellerboreso
it
canbe
pulled
off
oftheshaft.Ensurelherubbersealseat
for
lhe
ceramicisalsoremovedfromthebottom
oftheseal
bore.
The
seal
may
alternativelybe
removedby
first
pressing
theshaftassembly
fromthe
pump
bodyandthen
pushing
ihesealoutolthesealbore
fromthebearingendofthe
pump.
Toremovetheshafvbearingsubassembly
lromthe
pul']p
body,
first
ensurethe
sealretaining
ringis
removedfromtheshaft.Removethebearingto
bodyretainingringlromthedriveendofthe
pump.
From
the
impeller
endof
the
pump,press
iheshalv
bearingsubassembly
from
the
pump
body.TheO-
ringlocatednext
tothe
bearingnearesttheimpeller
endoftheshattservesasawaterslingerandmay
beremovedifdesired.
Cleanall
parts
and
inspectlorwear. lfthecamhas
wear
grooves
onit
which
canbeeasily
feltwith
your
fingernail,itshould
probably
be
replaced.lfthe
wearplatehaswear
grooves
itshouldbereversed
wheninstalledorreplaced.lfthe
pump
endcover
has
significant
wear
grooves
itshouldbe
replaced.
Wear
toanyoftheaforementioned
parts
willreduce
the
pump'sprimeability.
Rotatethebearings'outer
races
toensurethey
rotatesmoothly.lfthey
grind,
wobbleorhang-up,theshaft/cearingsubassembly
shouldbe
replaced.
ASSEMBLY
Positiontheslinger
O ringabout
1/4"away
from
lhe
bearingnearestthe
impellerendofthe
shaft.Press
the
shafvbearingsubassembly
intothe
pump
body.
Installthebearing
retainingring
in
the
retaining
ring
groove
ensuringit
is
properly
seatedallaround.
Slidetheceramic
portion
ofthe
sealwith
rubber
sealseatattached
ontotheshaft
and
press
intothe
sealboresothe
whiteceramic
facestheimpeller
bore.Slidethe
carbon
portion
ofthe
sealontothe
shaft
untililcontactstheceramic.
Positionthe
seal
spacerontheshattagainst
thesealand
push
it
downtoexposethe
retainingring
groove.
Install
thesealretaining
ringensuring
itisfullyseated
in
the
retainingring
groove.
Dropthe
wearplateinto
lheimpellerboreensuring
thenotch
in
the
wear-
plate
aligns
with
the
locator
pinposition(centered
incamarea)inthebody.
Position
thecam
intheimpellerbore
andsecureit
in
place
with
the
camscrew
fittedwiththeO-ring
seal.
With
arotarymotion
(in
the
normalinstalled
directionotrotation)
push
theimpeller
into
the
impellerbore.Alignthe
flatsoftheimpeller
insert
withtheflatsonthe
shaftthen
push
the
impeller
with
a
rolarymotiondownuntil
itbottomsinthe
impeller
bore.Positiontheend
coverO-ringinthe
O-ring
groove
andinstallthe
endcoverwithend
coverscrewsand
lock
washers.
Recommendedtorqueforthecamscrew
is45-50
in/lbsandtheend
coverscrews65-70
in/lbs.
