3.Safety
3.1Authorizeduse
Thisunitconvertsaportablerouterintoabenchtopshaper,itis
designedforshapingwoodandwoodderivedmaterials.
Machiningofothermaterialsisnotpermittedandmaybe
carriedoutinspecificcasesonlyafterconsultingwiththe
manufacturer.
Nometalworkpiecesmaybemachined.
Theworkpiecemustallowtosafelybeloaded,supportedand
guided.
Theproperusealsoincludescompliancewiththeoperatingand
maintenanceinstructionsgiveninthismanual.
Themachinemustbeoperatedonlybypersonsfamiliarwithits
operationandmaintenanceandwhoarefamiliarwithits
hazards.
Therequiredminimumagemustbeobserved
Themachinemustonlybeusedinatechnicallyperfect
condition
Whenworkingonthemachine,allsafetymechanismsand
coversmustbemounted.
Inadditiontothesafetyrequirementscontainedinthese
operatinginstructionsandyourcountry’sapplicable
regulations,youshouldobservethegenerallyrecognized
technicalrulesconcerningtheoperationofwoodworking

3.2Generalsafetynotes
Woodworkingmachinescanbedangerousifnotusedproperly.
Thereforetheappropriategeneraltechnicalrulesaswellasthe
followingnotesmustbeobserved.
Readandunderstandtheentireinstructionmanualbefore
attemptingassemblyoroperation.

Keepthisoperatinginstructionclosebythemachine,protected
fromdirtandhumidity,andpassitovertothenewownerifyou
partwiththetool.
Nochangestothemachinemaybemade.
Dailyinspectthefunctionandexistenceofthesafetyappliances
beforeyoustartthemachine.
Donotattemptoperationinthiscase,protectthemachineby
unpluggingthemainscord.
Removealllooseclothingandconfinelonghair.
Beforeoperatingthemachine,removetie,rings,watches,other
jewellery,androllupsleevesabovetheelbows.
Wearsafetyshoes;neverwearleisureshoesorsandals.
Alwaysweartheapprovedworkingoutfit

Installthemachinesothatthereissufficientspaceforsafe
operationandworkpiecehandling.

Dependingonthejobusesuitablesafetydevices,which
preventaccidentalcontactwiththerotatingcutter.Adaptthese
safetydevicesexactlytotherespectiveapplicationandthe
workpiecedimensions.
Adaptthespindlespeedtothecutterdiameter.
Alwayskeepyourhandswellclearofthecuttingtool.

Neverreachwithyourhandsundertheshaperguardwhen
guidingtheworkpiece!
Machineonlystockwhichrestssecurelyonthetable.
Alwaysfeedstockagainstcutterrotation.

Feedingtheworkpieceinthewrongdirectionwillcausethe
workpieceto“climb”uponthebitpullingtheworkpieceand
possiblyyourhandsintotherotatingbit.
Useapushblockwhenworkingtheendsofnarrowstock.
Workpiecesshorterthan200mmrequirespecialfeedingaids
(e.g.feedingtemplate).
Nevermachineaworkpieceifitcannotbeguidedwitha
sufficientdistancetothecuttingtool.
Guidetheworkpiecebythefencetomaintaincontrol.
Donotfeedtheworkpiecefreehand,theworkpiecemaybe
caughtbytherotatingtool.
Donotplacetheworkpiecebetweentherouterbitandfence.
Thiswillcausetheworkpiecetobecomewedged,making
kickbackpossible.

Tenoningandslottingworkisnotallowed–seriousriskof
injury!
Specificationsregardingthemaximumorminimumsizeofthe
workpiecemustbeobserved.
Specificationsregardingthemaximumsizeoftherouterbit
diametermustbeobserved.
Donotremovechipsandworkpiecepartsuntilthemachineis
atacompletestandstill.
Alwaysusesharpcuttingtools.
Keepthetablesurfaceclean,inparticularremoveresinresidue.
Donotstandonthemachine.
Makeallmachineadjustmentsormaintenancewiththe
machineunpluggedfromthepowersource.
Theroutercouldstartaccidentally.
Donotuseorpluginyourroutertableuntilitiscompletely
assembledandinstalledaccordingtotheinstructions.
Makesuretherouterisfullyandsecurelyattachedtothe
routertable.
Periodicallycheck,theroutercouldvibratelooseandfallfrom
table.
Makesuretheroutertableissecuredtoasolid,flatandlevel
surface,andwillnottipduringuse.
Alwaysmachinetheworkpieceoveritsentirelength.
Recessmachiningmayonlybecarriedoutwiththeaidof
suitablelongitudinalworkpiecestops.

Whenworkingcomplexshapes,makejigsandguidestoguide
theworkpieceproperlyandsafely.
Maketrialcutsonapieceofscrapbeforeworkingtheactual
workpiece.
Alwaysworkoneworkpieceatatime.
Whenmachiningnarrowworkpieces(widthlessthan150mm)
thelateralworkpieceguidemustbeused.
Usethesmallesttableinsertpossible.
Replaceaworntableinsertimmediately.
Installtherouterbitaccordingtotheinstructionsintherouter
manual.Makesurethebitissecurelyseatedinthecolletchuck
beforemakinganycuts.
Theroutermustfirstreachthemaximumrpmbeforecutting
maybegin.
Supportlongworkpieceswithhelpingrollerstandsortable
extensions.
Connectionandrepairworkontheelectricalinstallationmaybe
carriedoutbyaqualifiedelectricianonly.

Makeallmachineadjustmentsormaintenancewiththe
machineunpluggedfromthepowersource.
Haveadamagedorworncordreplacedimmediately.

3.3Remaininghazards
Whenusingthemachineaccordingtoregulationssome
remaininghazardsmaystillexist
Touchingthecuttingtoolinthemachiningareacancause
injury.Foreffectiveprotection,therouterbit,thefence,the
workpiecehold‐downandthelateralworkpieceguidemust
alwaysbeadaptedtotheworkpieceandtothemachining
operation.
Riskofkickback.Theworkpieceiscaughtbytherotatingcutter
andthrownbacktotheoperator.
Thrownworkpiecepartscanleadtoinjury.
Sawdustandnoisecanbehealthhazards.
Besuretowearpersonalprotectiongearsuchassafetygoggles
andearprotection.Useasuitabledustexhaustsystem.
Woodchipsandsawdustcanbehealthhazards.Besureto
wearpersonalprotectiongearsuchassafetygogglesear‐and
dustprotection.
Useasuitabledustexhaustsystem.
Theuseofincorrectmainssupplyoradamagedpowercordcan

5.5Startingoperation
TurntherouterswitchtotheON‐position.
YoucannowstartthemachinewiththegreenOn‐buttonon
themagneticswitch(J,Fig13).
TheredOff‐buttononthemagneticswitchstopsthemachine.
Bothsocketsareoperatedbytheswitch.
Ashop‐vacconnectedtothesecondsocketwillstartandstop
togetherwiththerouter.



6.Machineoperation
Workpiecehandling:
Feedtheworkpiecestraightacrossthemachinetable,holding
yourfingersclosetogether,guidingtheworkpiecewiththe
palmofyourhands.
Neverputyourhandsunderorbehindtheshaperguard.
Alwayskeepyourhandswellclearoftherotatingcutter.
Alwaysfeedtheworkpieceagainstthecutterrotation(Fig14).
Adjusttheworkpieceholddown(D),toguidetheworkpiece
andtoavoidworkpiecelifting.
Adjustthelateralworkpieceguide(C),toguidetheworkpiece
andtopresstheworkpieceagainstthefence.


outafterthemachineisprotectedagainstaccidentalstarting
bypullingthemainsplug.
Repairandmaintenanceworkontheelectricalsystemmayonly
becarriedoutbyaqualifiedelectrician.


9.Troubleshooting
