CAUTIONS FOR SAFETY
PS-800SB-2850 Series

For the sewing machine, automatic machine and ancillary devices (hereinafter collectively referred to as
"machine"), it is inevitable to conduct sewing work near moving parts of the machine. This means that there
is always a possibility of unintentionally coming in contact with the moving parts. Operators who actually
operate the machine and maintenance personnel who are involved in maintenance and repair of the machine
are strongly recommended to carefully read to fully understand the following SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
before using/maintaining the machine. The content of the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS includes items which
are not contained in the specications of your product.
The risk indications are classied into the following three different categories to help understand the meaning
of the labels. Be sure to fully understand the following description and strictly observe the instructions.

v
Precautions to be taken so as to use the PS-800SB-2850 Series
more safely
1. To prevent possible accidents due to electric shocks, neither open the cover of motor electri-
cal box nor touch the component(s) inside the electrical box.
2. Make sure of the needle entry after changing the pattern. Should the pattern protrude from
the work clamp check, needle interferes with the work clamp check resulting in the danger
of occurrence of needle breakage or the like. In addition, check that the work clamp check
which has been set corresponds to that which has been installed on the sewing machine.
1. In case nothing is displayed in the operation panel even when the power switch is turned ON,
turn OFF the power switch and check the power voltage and phase.
2.
In order to protect against personal injury, never place your ngers inside the thread take-up
lever, work clamp, work clamp mechanical section and thread take-up lever cover and near the
underside of the thread trimmer and needle when turning ON the power switch and while the
sewing machine is in operation.
3. To prevent possible accidents caused by abrupt start of the sewing machine, turn OFF the
power when removing the cover, and ascertain that the sewing machine and the motor have
totally stopped.
4. When the cassette clamp switch is tuned ON, the cassette clamp cylinder comes down. Nev-
er place your hands and/or ngers under the cassette clamp in order to prevent accidents
caused by an unexpected startup.
5. When the threading button or pattern edit button on the operation panel is pressed, the inter-
mediate presser and disc presser automatically come down. Never place your hands and/or
ngers under the intermediate presser and disc presser in order to prevent accidents caused
by an unexpected startup.
6. To avoid fatal accidents by being caught in the machine, never bring your ngers, hair or
clothing close to the moving sections such as handwheel, hand pulley, motor, etc., and never
place anything on any of these parts during operation of the machine.
7. To avoid personal injury, never operate the machine with the motor cover, eye protection cov-
er, or any other safety devices removed.
8. To prevent possible accidents due to electric shocks or damaged electrical component(s),
always turn OFF the power switch before connecting or disconnecting the power plug.
9. In order to prevent possible accidents due to a ground fault or a dielectric voltage, an appro-
priate power plug should be installed by a person who has expertise in electricity. In addition,
the power plug should be connected to the receptacle which is properly grounded without
exceptions.
10. During thunder and lightning storms, stop your work and disconnect the power from the out-
let to ensure safety and prevent possible accidents due to damaged electrical component(s).
11. If the machine is suddenly moved from a cold place to a warm place, dew condensation may
result. If this occurs, be sure to conrm that there are no potentially dangerous water drops
in the machine before turning it on in order to prevent possible accidents due to damaged
electrical component(s).
12. In the event of a power failure, be sure to turn OFF the power to the machine to protect
against damaged electrical components.
13. When the sewing machine is used without a break for many hours, the temperature of a part
of the machine body or the rear side of operation panel rises higher by 15˚C than the environ-
mental temperature, and you may feel the heat from the part. However, this phenomenon is
not abnormal, and does not aect the components or the like.
14. Be careful of handling this product so as not to pour water or oil, shock by dropping, and the
like since this product is a precision instrument.
15. To avoid fatal accidents, use the forklift when lifting and transporting the machine.

vi
16. To avoid any accident causing injury or death, never place feet on or get on top of the sewing
machine table or table stand components.
17. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio interference, in which case the user
may be required to make corrective actions.
18. When the machine runs, the cable chain projects backward. It is therefore necessary, when
installing the machine, to secure a space behind the machine so as to provide one meter or
more distance from the rear of sewing machine where nobody is allowed to enter.
19. Both ends of the X-feed mechanism have been designed to project outside the table of main
body of sewing machine. Coming in contact with these ends, while the machine is running, is
dangerous since doing so can cause an injury. Be sure to use the sub table, without excep-
tions, so as to keep people away from the X-feed mechanism.
