We-Produkt entschieden haben. Unsere Ophthalmoskope
zeichnen sich durch eine hohe Qualität und Langlebigkeit aus.
Die KaWe-Ophthalmoskope erfüllen die Bestimmungen der
Verordnung (EU) 2017/745 (europäische Medizinprodukte-Ver-
ordnung) und gehören gemäß dieser Verordnung zur Medizin-
produktklasse I.
Lesen und befolgen Sie diese Gebrauchsanweisung
undbewahrenSiesie zum späteren Nachschlagenauf.
Machen Sie sich vor der Benutzung sorgfältig mit der
Bedienung vertraut und beachten Sie die Pflegehinweise.
Bei Unklarheiten zum Anschluss und der Bedienung des Ge-
rätes, wenden Sie sich bitte an den Kundendienst (Herstelle-
radresse siehe Rückseite).
KaWe-Ophtha en in zwei Gruppen eingeteilt:
• EUROLIGHT: Modelle mit Metallgriff und Kunststoffkopf
• PICCOLIGHT: Modelle mit Kunststoffgriff und -kopf
Abbildungen dazu finden Sie auf der Vorderseite der Ge-
brauchsanweisung. Auf die Unterschiede zwischen den Model-
len wird in dieser Gebrauchsanweisung eingegangen. Die wei-
teren Varianten (Batterie-/ Ladebatteriebetrieb, Lichtquelle,
etc.) werden hier nicht näher behandelt, da keine wesentlichen
Unterschiede in der Bedienung bestehen.

Verwendung
KaWeOphthalmoskope sind Diagnostikinstrumenteund dienen
der vorübergehenden optischen Untersuchung des Augenhin-
tergrundes mittels direkter Ophthalmoskopie. Bei dieser Me-
thode können die zentralen Anteile wie Sehnervenkopf, Gefä-
ßursprünge und der gelbe Fleck (Makula lutea) betrachtet
werden. Das Ophthalmoskop ist so konzipiert, dass es auch
ohne pupillenerweiternde Medikamente verwendet werden
kann.Allerdingsist in diesem FalldasGesichtsfeld desPatienten
eingeschränkt.
• Vorgesehene Patientengruppe: Menschen jeden Alters und
jeden Geschlechts, bei denen eine Untersuchung des Augen
hintergrundes notwendig ist.
• Dieses Produkt darf nur durch autorisiertes Fachpersonal
angewendet werden!

Die Beachtung aller Hinweise in dieser Gebrauchsanweisung
sowie der maßgeblichen Vorschriften und Richtlinien gehört
zur bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung. Jede andere Verwen-
dung ist nicht bestimmungsgemäß und für hieraus resultieren-
de Schäden haftet der Hersteller nicht!
3. Sicherheitshinweise/Kontraindikationen
• Überprüfen Sie das Ophthalmoskop vor jedem Gebrauch
hinsichtlich seiner einwandfreien Funktion. Verwenden Sie
das Gerät nicht, wenn Sie Beschädigungen feststellen.
• Das Ophthalmoskop vor Nässe schützen!
• Kein direkter Kontakt des Ophthalmoskops mit dem Auge!
• Eine lange Brenndauer kann die Bereiche um die Lampe stark
erwärmen.
• KaWe Ophthalmoskope sind nicht für operative Eingriffe
bestimmt.
• Beim KaWe EUROLIGHT E25-Kopf darf ausschließlich die
Wandstation KaWe MedCenter 5000 zur Stromversorgung
verwendet werden.
• Das Gerät darf nicht im Bereich starker Magnetfelder (MRT)
angewendet werden.
• Ophthalmoskope unterliegen – wie alle elektrisch
betriebenen Diagnosegeräte – besonderen Vorsichtsmaß-
nahmen hinsichtlich der EMV.
• Die Funktion der Ophthalmoskope kann durch mobile
HF-Kommunikationseinrichtungen beeinflusst werden.
• Verwenden Sie nur original Ersatz- und Zubehörteile von
KaWe.
Im Fehlerfall kann es zu einer starken Hitzeent-
wicklung kommen, was zu einem Verbrennungs-
risiko führen kann. Schalten Sie bei einer starken
Erwärmung unmittelbar den Griff aus.
4. Montage & Bedienung
Bei der Handhabung des Instruments ist zu beachten, dass sich
der Untersuchende möglichst nah mit seinem Auge am Instru-
ment befindet. Durch das seitliche Einleuchten in den Fun-
dus-Bereich am Patienten und näher schreiten bis auf max.
2-3 cm, kannohne medikamentöse Hilfe diagnostiziert werden.
Anwendungsdauer
DieGeräte sind füreinennichtkontinuierlichen Betrieb mit einer
maximalen Betriebszeit von 1 min und einer Pausenzeit zwi-
schen den Anwendungen von 10 min vorgesehen.
KaWe EUROLIGHT E10/ E15/ E16
a) Ophthalmoskop-Kopf auf den Batterie-/ Ladegriff (8)
aufstecken und festschrauben. Bohrung am Kopf für die
Aufnahme der Schraube beachten.
b) Batterien bzw. Ladebatterien in den Griff einsetzen. Dabei
auf die richtige Polarität und Lampe (2,5 V bzw. 3,5 V)
achten! Beachten Sie hierzu Kap.8: Wartung & Service.
c) Einschalten durch drücken des weißen Rastschalters und
Linksbewegung des Lichtreglers (7). Zum Ausschalten den
Lichtregler wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt 0drehen
(Klick Geräusch!). Die Helligkeit lässt sich stufenlos
regulieren.

a) Ophthalmoskop-Kopf auf den Batterie-/ Ladegriff (8)
aufstecken und einrasten. Dabei auf die Einkerbungen
achten!
b) Batterien bzw. Ladebatterien in den Griff einsetzen. Dabei
auf die richtige Polarität und Lampe (2,5 V bzw. 3,5 V)
achten! Beachten Sie hierzu Kap.8: Wartung & Service.
c) Einschalten durch drücken des weißen Rastschalters und
Linksbewegung des Lichtreglers (7). Zum Ausschalten den
Lichtregler wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt 0drehen
(Klick Geräusch!). Die Helligkeit lässt sich stufenlos
regulieren.

Achtung: Wenn das Ophthalmoskop nicht gebraucht wird,
das Sicht-fenster (9) mit der Verschlussblende (1) abdecken
um zu verhindern, dass Staub in den Kopf gelangt!

E25-Kopf: Montage auf KaWe MedCenter 5000
Der Kopf KaWe EUROLIGHT E25 kann ausschließ-
lich in Kombination mit der Wandstation „KaWe
MedCenter 5000“ verwendet werden.
a) Den E25-Kopf in den Griff des KaWe MedCenter 5000
einstecken.
b) Achten Sie darauf, dass die Zentrierbohrung am Stutzen auf
die Fixierschraube fällt.
c) Fixierschraube leicht anziehen.
d) Zum Entfernen des Kopfes, die Fixierschraube lösen und den
Kopf vorsichtig herausziehen.
Beachten Sie hierzu die separate Gebrauchsanweisung des
KaWe MedCenter 5000.

a) Batterien (2x Mignon Typ AA 1,5 V) in den Griff einsetzen.
Dabei auf die richtige Polarität achten! Beachten Sie hierzu
Kap.8: Wartung & Service.
b) Den Kopf auf den Griff schrauben (6).
c) Zum Ein- und Ausschalten der Lampe den Schiebeschalter
betätigen (7).
d) Batterie- oder Lampenwechsel durch Abschrauben des
Kopfes möglich. Beachten Sie hierzu Kap.8: Wartung &
Service.
5. Vorbereitende Maßnahmen zum Gebrauch
• Regelmäßige Sicht- und Funktionsprüfung aller Bauteile
durchführen – defekte Teile austauschen!
• Die beweglichen Teile (z.B. Blenden-/ Korrektionslinsenrad,
Steckverbindung) auf Leichtgängigkeit prüfen.
• Alle elektrischen Kontaktstellen von Verunreinigungen
fernhalten.
• Ladezustand der Batterien prüfen.
Wenn diese Prüfungen erfolgreich durchgeführt wurden, kann
das Ophthalmoskop angewendet werden.
6. Hygienische Aufbereitung
Zum Schutz vor Schmutz und Staub, bewahren Sie das Ophthal-
moskop bitte stets in der Verpackung auf.
Manuelle Reinigung/ Desinfektion
Gerät vor Nässe schützen!
Das Ophthalmoskop niemals in Flüssigkeiten le-
gen und darauf achten, dass keine Flüssigkeit ins
Gehäuse eindringt.
Das Ophthalmoskop außen mit einem feuchten, weichen und
fusselfreien Tuch reinigen. Die Scheibe in der Lichtaustrittsöff-
nung kann bei Bedarf mit einem leicht in Alkohol getränkten
Wattestab gereinigt werden.
• Drücken Sie nicht auf die Scheibe!
• Verwenden Sie keine scheuernden Reinigungsmittel!
Zur Desinfektion kann das Ophthalmoskop mit einem Oberflä-
chen-Desinfektionsmittel auf alkoholischer Basis abgewischt
werden. Verwenden Sie dafür ein angefeuchtetes Tuch.

7. Lagerung & Transport
Die Ophthalmoskope staub-, feuchtigkeits- und kontamina-
tionsgeschützt lagern und transportieren.
Umgebungsparameter
8. Wartung & Service
Das Ende der Produktlebensdauer wird normalerweise von Ver-
schleiß und Beschädigung durch den Gebrauch bestimmt. Be-
schädigte Teile müssen aussortiert und ersetzt werden!
Bei geringer Lichtintensität folgende Ursachen prüfen:
1. Ladezustand der Batterie/Ladebatterie und ggf.
austauschen bzw. voll aufladen.
2. Lampe reinigen oder ersetzen.

Können die obigen Gründe ausgeschlossen werden, kann eine
Reparatur oder ein Austausch notwendig werden. Kontaktieren
Sie dazu bitte Ihren Fachhändler.
Batteriewechsel
Prüfen Sie regelmäßig den Ladezustand der Batterien. Nachlas-
sende Batteriespannung (verbrauchsbedingt) führt zu redu-
zierter Lichtstärke und ggf. zu einem Flackern von LED-Leucht-
mitteln. In beiden Fällen sind die Batterien zu ersetzen. Beim
Wechsel ausschließlich neue, qualitativ hochwertige Alkaline
Batterien (oder vollgeladene Ladebatterien) benutzen.
Beachten Sie zusätzlich die Gebrauchsanweisung
der Ladebatterien und – geräte!
Lampenwechsel
Die ordnungsgemäße Funktion des Ophthalmoskops mit opti-
maler Lichtqualität ist nur bei Verwendung der original KaWe
Ersatzlampen gewährleistet.

1. Klemmschraube am Griff lösen und den Ophthalmoskop-
Kopf vom Griff abziehen.
2. Den Überwurfring (1) abschrauben.
3. Den Lampenhalter (2) am unteren Teil des Kopfes
herausziehen und die Lampe austauschen.
4. Den Glaskolben (3) der neuen Lampe mit Alkohol reinigen.
Der Glaskolben sollte sauber und frei von Fingerabdrücken
(fettfrei) sein.
5. Lampenhalter inkl. Lampe wieder in den Kopf einsetzen.
6. Den Überwurfring aufschrauben
KaWe EUROLIGHT E15/ E16/ E25/ E30/ E35/ E36
1. Den Ophthalmoskop-Kopf vom Griff trennen.
1.1. Bei E15/ E16:
Dazu die Klemmschraube am Griff lösen.
1.2. Bei E25/ E30/ E35/ E36:
Dazu die gerändelte Hülse nach unten drücken.
2. Die Lampe am unteren Teil des Kopfes herausziehen.
3. Den Glaskolben der neuen Lampe mit Alkohol reinigen. Der
Glaskolben sollte sauber und frei von Fingerabdrücken
(fettfrei) sein.
4. Die Lampe bis zum Anschlag zurück in den Kopf schieben.
KaWe PICCOLIGHT E50/ E56
1. Den Ophthalmoskop-Kopf vom Griff abschrauben.
2. Die Lampe am unteren Teil des Kopfes herausziehen.
3. Den Glaskolben der neuen Lampe mit Alkohol reinigen.
Der Glaskolben sollte sauber und frei von Fingerabdrücken
(fettfrei) sein.
4. Die Lampe bis zum Anschlag zurück in den Kopf schieben.

10. Entsorgung
Das Gerät muss gemäß der örtlichen Bestimmungen entsorgt
werden. Die Entsorgungshinweise ergeben sich aus den Pikto-
grammen, die auf dem Gerät bzw. der Verpackung aufgebracht
sind.
Schadhafte und/ oder zu entsorgende elektri-
sche/ elektronische Geräte & Ladebatterien sind
an den dafür vorgesehenen Recycling-Stellen
abzugeben.
Hinweis an Anwender & Patienten
Alle in Zusammenhang mit dem Produkt auftre-
tenden schwerwiegenden Vorfälle sind unver-
züglich dem Hersteller und der zuständigen Be-
hörde des jeweiligen Mitgliedsstaats, in dem der
Anwender und/oder der Patient niedergelassen
ist zu melden.
11. Anhang
Garantie & Gewährleistung
Bei ordnungsgemäßer Handhabung und Berücksichtigung un-
serer Gebrauchsanweisung sowie der Verwendung von Ka-
We-Originalteilen gilt die gesetzliche Gewährleistung von zwei
Jahren beginnend mit dem Verkaufsdatum (ausgenommen
Leuchtmittel, Batterien und Ladebatterien).
Auf LED-Lampen gewähren wir eine Garantie von fünf Jahren
beginnend mit dem Verkaufsdatum.
Bei weiteren Fragen oder eventuellen Reparaturen wenden Sie
sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler.

KaWe ophthalmoscopes are available in two models:
• EUROLIGHT: Models with metal handle and plastic button
• PICCOLIGHT: Models with plastic handle and button
Images are shown on the cover of this application manual. The
difference between the two models are described in this appli-
cation manual. Other options (battery operation, light sources,
etc.) are not discussed in detail, as they do not have significant
differences in service.

Purpose and intended use
KaWe ophthalmoscopes are diagnostic instruments and are
primarily used for optical examination of the fundus by direct
ophthalmoscopy. In this method, the central elements of the
visual organ, such as optic disc, the vascular bundle, macula
(Makula lutea) are examined. The ophthalmoscope allows exa-
minations without the use of mydriatics. However, in this case,
the patient‘s field of vision is limited.
• Target patient groups: Patients of all ages and genders
who require visual examination.
• The product must only be used by authorized specialized
personnel!
Intended use is the compliance with all instructions in this ap-
plication manual as well as basic rules and directives. The ma-
nufacturer does not accept any liability for damage resulting
from any other use.

3. Safety rules / contraindications
• Before each use, please check whether the ophthalmoscope
is operating properly. Do not use the device in case any
damage is detected.
• Ensure the ophthalmoscope is protected from moisture.
• Avoid direct contact of the ophthalmoscope with the visual
organ.
• If the light is on for a long time, the areas around the lamp
may become hot.
• KaWe ophthalmoscopes are not intended for use during
surgery.
• Use only KaWe MedCentether 5000 wall-mounted station for
power supply of KaWe EUROLIGHT E25 head.
• Do not use the device in areas subject to strong magnetic
fields (MRI systems).
• When handling ophthalmoscopes - as with all
energy-consuming diagnostic devices - special
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) precautions must be
observed.
• The performance of ophthalmoscopes can be affected by
mobile high-frequency communication devices.
• Only original spare parts and accessories from KaWe may be
used.
In case of a malfunction, a large amount of heat
can be generated, resulting in an increased risk of
fire. In case of strong heat, turn off the handle.
4. Installation and maintenance
When handling the instrument, it is necessary to take into ac-
count that the examiner must bring his eye as close as possible
to the instrument. Due to the lateral illumination of the patient‘s
fundus area and the approach to a maximum distance of 2-3 cm,
diagnostics can be carried out without drugs.
Duration of operation
The devices are not intended for continuous operation, the ma-
ximum duration of one use is 1 minute with a 10 minutes pause
between uses.
KaWe EUROLIGHT E10/ E15/ E16
a) Place the ophthalmoscope head on the handle with battery
(8) and secure it with the screw. Consider the location of the
holes on head for securing the screw.
b) Insert batteries or accumulator into the handle. Observe the
polarity and the lamp voltage (2.5 or 3.5 V)! For detailed
information see Section 8: Maintenance and Service.
c) Switching on is carried out by pressing the white switch with
fixing the on position and moving the light regulator to the
left (7). To switch off, move the light regulator to the initial
position 0(until it clicks!). Brightness can be adjusted
smoothly.

E25 head: KaWe MedCenter 5000 installation
The KaWe EUROLIGHT E25 head can only be used
with the KaWe MedCenter 5000 wall station.
a) Insert the E25 head into the handle of the KaWe MedCenter
5000 device.
b) Note that the centering hole must be lined up with the
support on the retaining screw.
c) Tighten the retaining screw lightly.
d) To remove the head, unscrew the retaining screw and
carefully pull out the head.

5. Preparing for operation
• Periodically check that all parts are in good condition -
replace defective parts.
• Check the smooth running of moving parts (e.g. correction
lens /blend wheel, plug connector).
• Keep all electrical contacts clean.
• Check the batteries charge.
After a successful inspection, the ophthalmoscope is ready for
use.
6. Hygienic preparation
Keep the ophthalmoscope in its packaging to protect it from dirt
and dust.
Manual cleaning/disinfection
Protect the device from moisture!
Do not place the ophthalmoscope in liquids, make
sure that no liquid gets into the casing.
Clean the outside of the ophthalmoscope with a damp, soft,
lint-free cloth. If necessary, wipe the light outlet glass with a
cotton swab slightly moistened with alcohol.
• Do not press on the glass.
• Verwenden Sie keine scheuernden Reinigungsmittel!
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. For disinfection, the opht-
halmoscope can be wiped with an alcohol-based surface disin-
fectant. Use a slightly damp cloth.

7. Transportation and storage
Ophthalmoscopes are to be stored and transported protected
from dust, moisture and contamination.

The end of the useful life is usually determined by wear and tear.
Damaged parts are to be sorted out and replaced immediately.
If the light intensity decreases, check for the following possible
causes:
1. Battery charge; replace or recharge if necessary.
2. Clean or replace the lamp.
If the above reasons are excluded, repair or replacement may be
required. In this case, please, contact a specialized dealer.

Battery replacement
Check the batteries charge regularly. Low battery voltage (de-
pending on consumption) leads to light intensity decrease and
possible appearance of LED lamps flashing. In both cases, it’s
necessary to replace the batteries. When replacing, use only
new, high quality alkaline batteries (or fully charged batteries).
Besides, observe manuals’ requirements for use of
the batteries.
Lamp replacement
The correct performance of the ophthalmoscope with original
light quality is only ensured when using original KaWe replace-
ment lamps.

1. Unscrew the retaining screw on the handle and remove the
ophthalmoscope head from the handle.
2. Unscrew the cap ring (1).
3. Pull out the lamp holder (2) on the bottom of the head and
replace the lamp.
4. Clean the glass bulb (3) of the new lamp with alcohol. The
glass bulb must be clean and free from fingerprints (grease
free).
5. Install the lamp holder and lamp back into the head.
6. Screw the cap ring.
KaWe EUROLIGHT E15/ E16/ E25/ E30/ E35/ E36
1. Remove the ophthalmoscope head from the handle.
1.1. Models E15/E16:
Unscrew the retaining screw on the handle.

2. Remove the lamp at the bottom of the head.

10. Disposal
The product is to be disposed in accordance with local environ-
mental regulations. Disposal instructions are also shown on the
pictograms on the device or packaging.
Defective and/or recyclable electrical / electronic
devices and rechargeable batteries must be trans-
ferred to a designated waste collection point for
recycling.

In case of problems during the device use, it is
necessary to immediately contact the manu-
facturer and the competent authorities of the re-
levant member state of the Union, in which the
service personnel or the patient are located.
11. Annex
Warranty & Guarantee
In case of proper handling and adherence to the rules laid down
in this application manual, as well as the use of original KaWe
spare parts, the statutory warranty period of two years from the
date of sale is valid (excluding lighting equipment, batteries and
accumulators). LED lamps are warranted for five years from the
date of sale.

Les ophtalmoscopes KaWe sont des instruments de diagnostic
et sont principalement utilisés pour l‘examen optique du fond
d‘œil par ophtalmoscopie directe. Par cette méthode, les élé-
ments centraux de l‘organe de la vision sont examinés, tels que
la papille optique, les vaisseaux et le jaune de la macula (Makula
lutea). L‘ophtalmoscope permet d‘effectuer des examens sans
utiliser de médicaments dilatant la pupille. Cependant, dans ce
cas, le champ de vision du patient est limité.
• Groupes de patients cibles: patients de tous âges et de tous
sexes qui nécessitent un examen de l‘organe de la vision.
• Le produit ne doit être utilisé que par du personnel spécialisé
autorisé!
