Ifaworkpieceorjigcausesanunbalance,reducetherotationalspeedorcorrect
thestatebymountingabalanceweight.TherecommendedbalancequalityisG6.3
orlessinJISB0905:1992.
Anunbalancedworkpiecegeneratescentrifugalforce,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Vibrationgeneratedbytheunbalancemaydamagethechuck,causingtheworkpiecetofly
out.
Confirmthatthechuckorworkpiecedoesnotinterferewiththecutterortheturret
atalowrotationalspeedbeforestartingmachining.
Alargeimpactonthechuckorworkpiecebyinterferencemaydamagethechuck,causingthe
chuckorworkpiecetoflyout.
Ifanimpactisgiventothemachinebyinterferencebetweenthechuck/
workpieceandthecutter/turretduetomalfunctionorprogramerrors,immediately
stoprotation.Thenthoroughlycheckfordamageorcrackonthepartsby
disassemblingandcleaningthemandperformrepairorreplacementifnecessary.
Theimpactmaycausedamageorcrackontheparts.Continuoususeoffaultypartsmay
damagethechuck,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
UsethechuckandcylinderthatarebothmanufacturedbyKitagawa.
Ifyoumustusethechucktogetherwithacylindermanufacturedbyanother
company,confirmKitagawaorsalesagentsthatthecombinationofthechuckand
thecylinderissafe.
Dependingonthecombinationwithaparticularcylinder,thechuckandthecylindermaybe
damaged,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
BesuretotightentheboltswiththespecifiedtorquelistedinTable.
Useapropertoolthatcancontroltorquesuchasatorquewrench.
Useonlytheboltsattachedtothechuck.Donotuseotherbolts.
Rotatingthechuckwiththejawmountingboltsloosenedmaycausethejawsandworkpiece
toflyout.Ifinsufficientboltsaremounted,boltlengthiswrong,ortighteningtorqueisimproper,

Ifanyoftheabnormalitiesshownbelowsuddenlyoccursduringoperation,itmay
beasignofdamageofthechuck.
Theworkpieceslips. Chatteringoccurs.
Machiningaccuracyhasbecomeworse. Machinevibrationhasbeenincreased.
Chuckgrippingforceisreduced.

Ifthestatusisnotimprovedevenaftertakingthemeasuresdescribed,immediately
stopusingthechuck.
Continuoususeoffaultypartsmaydamagethechuck,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Ifthecylindercombinedistobechangedduetosuchasmodelchangeofarotary
hydrauliccylinder,changethehydraulicpressureaccordinglysoastoobtain
propergrippingforce.
Useofthechuckunderlowhydraulicpressureleadstoinsufficientgrippingforce,causingthe
workpiecetoflyout.Useofthechuckunderhighhydraulicpressureleadstodamageofthe
chuck,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Thedrawpipemusthavesufficientstrengthwithrespecttotheoperating
conditions,notcausingrun-outandunbalance.Thethreadaccuracymustbe6H/
6g.Tightenthethreadsecurelywithasufficientpenetrationlength.
Insufficientstrengthofthedrawpipe,vibrationduetounbalance,andloosenessofthe
threadmaydamagethedrawpipe.Ifthedrawpipeisbroken,thegrippingforceislost
instantaneously,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Usealockvalve(checkvalve)built-intypecylinder.Designthehydrauliccircuit
sothatthesolenoidvalveholdsthegrippingportpositionwhenthecurrentisnot
applied.
Suddendroporinterruptionofhydraulicpressureduetopowerfailureorhydraulicpump
failurewilllosethegrippingforceinstantaneously,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Useastrokecontrolsensorbuilt-intypecylinder.
Ifthejawstrokebecomesinsufficientduetochipsaccumulatinginsidethechuckor

Disassembleandcleanthechuckeverysixmonthsor100,000strokes(cast
machining:everytwomonths).
Omittingthedisassemblyandcleaninganduseofthechuckwithchipsandcoolant
remaininginsidethechuckwillleadtoinsufficientstrokeandgrippingforcedrop,causing

Removetheeyeboltsandwrenchfromthechuckafteruse.

hydraulicpressuresoastoobtainthegrippingforcenecessaryformachining,
andconfirmthatthenecessarygrippingforceisobtainedbeforestarting
machining.
Insufficientgrippingforcemaycausetheworkpiecetoflyout.
Ifyouuseatopjawhigherorheavierthanthestandardtopjaw,determinethe
operatingconditionaccordingto"3.2.CalculationofOperatingCondition"on

Usingatopjawunderexcessiveoperatingconditionsmaydamagethechuck,causing
theworkpiecetoflyout.
Forinternalgripping,usethechuckwith1/2orlessofthemax.permissible
inputforceforexternalgripping.
Excessiveinputforcemaydamagethechuck,causingtheworkpiecetoflyout.
Whenusingfixedjawsinsteadofoneortwotopjaws,theinputforcemustbe
2/3orlessor1/3orlessofthemax.permissibleinputforce.
Sincetheinputforcethatisnormallyappliedtothreejawsevenlyisconcentratedintwo
