Foreword
Congratulations, you’re the proud owner of
a Kumpan 54i! We hope you have loads of
fun with your new two-wheel companion.
This manual primarily serves to provide you
with instructions and references to allow
you to handle your Kumpan in a safe and
careful way. It contains information on the
various models and equipment versions of
the Kumpan 54i Family.
Please read through the manual before
your first trip so you can learn how to
properly handle your Kumpan.

Driver’s Licence Categories
The vehicle can be approved for use on public roads and may be operated with
the following licence permit categories:
Kumpan 54 iconic restricted at 25 km/h
- From 15 years with a moped certificate
Kumpan 54 iconic 45 km/h
- Driver’s licence categories AM, A1
- Driver’s licence categories A, B
- Former categories 1, 1b, 1a, 3, 4
Kumpan 54 impulse 70 km/h
Kumpan 54 ignite 100 km/h
- Driver’s licence categories A1, A2, A
- Driver’s licence category B with key number 196
- Former categories 1b, 1a, 1
- Former category 3 obtained before 01/04/1980
Important information
The scooter is designed for operation on public roads with a driver and a
passenger.
Any improper use of the vehicle will void both the manufacturer’s warranty
and statutory warranty.
All interventions to improve the performance, speed, and other interventions
that fundamentally alter the scooter’s properties are punishable and legal
steps will be taken. Such interventions will void the manufacturer’s warranty,
any other warranties, and the operating permit. Changes to the chassis
number are punishable under criminal and administrative law. The owner will
be held liable.
The scooter identification numbers are:
- The chassis number (“VIN”) (see P. 19/47)

Check & Start
Before every trip, inspect the scooter
to make sure it is safe for use on the
road.
This inspection comprises:
- Proper functioning of the brake system
- Proper tyre pressure
- Check all signalisation and lighting
systems for proper functioning
- Proper general condition
Transporting people or animals on
the luggage rack is prohibited.

Wet & Slippy Conditions
Exercise particular caution when
driving in poor weather conditions
(wet, snow, black ice). Always make
sure to adapt your driving behaviour
to the weather and road conditions.
After longer drives through the rain
and after cleaning the scooter, the
humidity might cause a delay before
the brake system applies. Therefore,
make sure to frequently brake
carefully when driving in the rain.

Loading & Unloading
Always load the Kumpan carefully and
beware of overloading. Securely fix
luggage. High luggage weights and
volumes might impair the stability of
and control over the Kumpan.
Never attach bulky, heavy, and/or
dangerous objects to the handlebar,
mudguard, and/or the front wheel
fork.

The taking of certain medicines,
alcohol, non-prescription drugs or
narcotics will significantly increase
the risk of having an accident. Do not
get on the vehicle if your physical or
mental state is impaired.
Spirit & Knowledge
Never stand up while driving. Always
drive with focus and care.
Do not get distracted by persons,
objects or the actions of others while
driving.
Always make sure to keep both
hands on the handlebar and both feet
on the footplate or feet rests.

Most accidents are caused by
inexperience, which is why you
should never let a novice driver use
your vehicle. Always make sure that
the driver has the knowledge and
skills required to drive on public
roads.

Always observe the road signs as
well as national and/or local traffic
regulations. Avoid doing anything
that might put your own safety or
the safety of other road users at risk.
Always take the road conditions,
visibility conditions, etc. into
consideration.
Defects & Accidents
Try to never drive over or hit objects
that might damage the vehicle or
impair its stability.
After an accident/fall or collision,
always check important components
of your scooter for damage. If you are
unsure or if your scooter is damaged,
let it be serviced by your Kumpan
electric contract partner. They will
check your Kumpan and all safety-
relevant components and devices. To
make it easier to carry out necessary
works, inform the personnel of your
workshop about any faults. Never
keep driving if the damage might
threaten your health!

Clothing – Head & Body
Always wear a protective helmet.
Make sure that the helmet meets the
test standard required under law, is
free of damage, and that the visor is
neither dirty nor scratched.
For your protection, always wear
appropriate and tight-fitting clothes
suitable for the weather conditions.

neckties, laces and similar) must

responsible for choosing and
installing the accessories. When
installing accessories, make sure that
they don’t impair the functioning,
control over or operation of your
Kumpan.
Ensure that the accessory is properly
attached to the vehicle to avoid risky
situations during your trip.

capacity of the system must never be
installed. This poses the risk of the
vehicle suddenly failing altogether.

Switching the Kumpan
On and Off
You can only switch on the scooter if:
• The key is activated by wearing
it on your body and is located within
a radius of 2 m around your scooter.
• The connection with the scooter is
not impaired because the key is
covered (e.g. with thick clothes or
metal covers).
• It might take up to 6 seconds before
the key is recognised.
Switching on/switching off
• Press the Start-Stop button
of your Kumpan or
• Press Button 1 on the Bluetooth
key.
A start message now appears
on the touch display. It must be
confirmed with “OK”.
Afterwards, pull both brakes or
acknowledge the display message
with“OK”.
Cruise control only works after both
brakes were applied at least once.
Your scooter is now ready to go!
Switching off:
Press the Start-Stop button of your
Kumpan.
or
Press Button 2 on the Bluetooth key.
• With our “Kumpan Key” app,
you can also teach your smartphone
to function as the key.
• Download it by scanning the QR
code or from your App Store, by
searching for “Kumpan Key” and
simply follow the instructions on
the app.

Installation: Place the correct
rearview mirror on both sides of
the scooter, into the thread on the
handlebar.
Rearview Mirror
Adjust the mirror before every trip
and check the setting while sitting in
the correct position on your Kumpan.
The mirror head has a ball joint for
flexible adjustments.
Turn the mirror clockwise into
the thread and adjust it. When
looking from the top, the arm of
the rearview mirror should run
parallel to the handlebar grip. Then,
tighten the locknut by turning it
counterclockwise.
