The scannin system
The Laserworld Scannerset is a fast scanning system, working on the moving magnet
galvanometer rinci le. The system includes two closed loo drivers, running at +/-
24V. It’s maximum s eed is ca. 80,000 oints er second with the ILDA test attern,
at a scanning angle of ca. 4°.
The system is shi ed with an x/y mount, scanners, drivers, a +/-24 V ower su ly,
and the necessary cables. The drivers are reset for standard show laser use, at
circa 20° scan angle at 35,000 oints er second scanning s eed.
Cables
The cables from driver to scanner have se arately shielded lines for the lines driving
the galvo coils and for the osition detector signals.
Power supply
The drivers need +/-24V at 1.2 A (each side). We recommend using the Laserworld
ower su ly

Speed
The scanning s eeds were measured with Showeditor software, and a laboratory
ower su ly at +/24V. Galvos were fixed in the standard mount on a metal base
late, without forced cooling. Mirrors were 6x11x0.7mm

Installation
The driver/scanner airs are adjusted at the factory and marked X and Y
res ectively, do not exchange.

Connecting to ILDA out ut: connect the signals marked (ILDA) to the following ins
of a 25 in male Sub D connector:
Signal+ of X driver to in 1, Y driver to in 2
Signal- of X driver to in 14, Y driver to in 15
Signal gnd (both drivers) to in 25
Power supply:
Connect the out uts to the corres onding signals on both driver boards.
Connect L, N and rotective ground to mains.
Mountin the alvos
the icture to the right shows how the galvos
are mounted into the galvo mount. (Laserbeam
entering from the right of the icture, X galvo
mounted from the to , Y galvo from left).
Tighten the screws in the galvo mount, so the
galvos can not move.

Adjustments
The driver/scanner airs are adjusted at the factory and marked X and Y
res ectively, do not exchange.
Adjusting using the ILDA test attern:
Dis lay the ILDA test attern at the scans eed and image size for which you want to
adjust your scanning system.
Adjust dam ing: At the corners of the inner square you can have an overshoot (as in
the icture left) or undershoot (as in the icture right) of the laserbeam. Adjust LFD
and HFD to minimize this effect.
Adjust servo gain: As long as the to and bottom of the circle lie within the square
(regardless of the form, it may be more of an elli se) you can increase gain. The
to /bottom will then move outwards. Increase until the circle/elli se touches the
square.
Re eat these two ste s until you get a good result.
Do the same for X, until the circle touches the square at all 4 sides.
You may have to re eatedly adjust both X and Y until the circle is erfectly round.

Scans eed and image size:
If the circle is bigger than the square you can increase scans eed, or icture size.
Your system is faster than necessary for that size.
If the circle is inside the square you should decrease scans eed or image size. Your
system is not fast enough for that size.
If you have to adjust from scratch (because you re lace a single galvo or driver, but
not a reset air) first turn gain/LFD/HFD to zero (counter clock wise), then start
increasing gain carefully until the galvos start moving, roceed as above.
