AND SOFTWARE CONSTITUTES
ACCEPTANCE OF THISAGREEMENT.
LAUNCH IS WILLINGTOLICENSE THE
PRODUCTS, INFORMATION, SOFTWAREAND
DOCUMENTS (COLLECTIVELY, “MATERIALS”)
TOYOU ONLYUPON THE CONDITION THAT
YOU ACCEPTALLOF THE TERMS
CONTAINED IN THIS LICENSEAGREEMENT.
BYUSING THE MATERIALS, YOU ARE
BINDING YOURSELF ANDTHE BUSINESS
ENTITYTHATYOU REPRESENT
(COLLECTIVELY, “CUSTOMER”)TOTHIS
AGREEMENT.IF YOU DO NOTAGREE TOALL
OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT,THEN
LAUNCH ISUNWILLING TOLICENSE THE
MATERIALS TOYOU AND DO NOTUSE THE
PRODUCTS AND DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL
THE SOFTWARE.
The following terms of this End User License
Agreement (“Agreement”)governCustomer’s
access and use of the product, except tothe
extent there is aseparate signed agreement
between Customer and LAUNCH governing
Customer’s use.
License. Conditioneduponcompliancewith the
terms and conditions of thisAgreement, LAUNCH
TECH. CO,LTC. orits subsidiary licensing the
Materials instead of LAUNCH, grants to
Customer anonexclusive and nontransferable
license to use forCustomer’sinternalbusiness
purposes the Materials andthe Document for
which Customer has paid the required license
fees. “Document”means written information
(whether containedin useror technical manuals,
training materials, specifications or otherwise)
specifically pertaining to theequipment and
made available by LAUNCHwith the equipment
in any manner (including on CD-Rom, or on-line).
Unless otherwiseexpresslyprovidedin the
Document, Customer shall use the Software
solely as embedded in, for execution on or
(where the applicable document permits
installation on non-LAUNCH equipment) for
communication withLAUNCHequipment owned
or leased byCustomerand usedfor Customer’s
internal business purposes.
Note
For evaluation or beta copies forwhich LAUNCH
does not charge alicense fee, the above
requirement to pay license fees does not apply.
General Limitations. This is alicense, not a
transfer of title, to the materials, and LAUNCH
retains ownership of all copiesof the Materials.
Customer acknowledges that the Materials
contain trade secrets ofLAUNCH, itssuppliers or
licensors, including but not limited to the specific
internal designed structure of individual programs
and associated interface information. Accordingly,
except as otherwise expressly provided under
this Agreement, Customer shall have no right and
Customer specifically agrees not to:
(i) transfer,assign or sublicense its license rights
to any other person or entity,or use the Materials
on unauthorized or secondhand LAUNCH
equipment, and Customer acknowledges that
any attempted transfer,assignment, sublicense

or use shall be void;
(ii) make error corrections toor otherwise modify
or adapt the Materials or create derivative works
based upon theMaterials, orpermitthird parties
to do the same;
(iii) reverseengineer ordecompile, decrypt,
disassemble or otherwise reduce the Materials to
human-readable form, except to the extent
otherwise expressly permitted under applicable
law notwithstanding this restriction;
(iv) use orpermitthe Materials tobeused to
perform servicesfor third parties,whetheron a
service bureau or timesharing basisor otherwise,
without the express written authorization of
LAUNCH;
(v) disclose, provide, orotherwise make available
trade secrets contained withinthe Materials in
any form to any third party without the prior
written consent of LAUNCH. Customer shall
implement reasonable security measures to
protect such trade secrets.
Tothe extent required by law,and atCustomer’s
written request,LAUNCHshall provideCustomer
with the interface information needed to achieve
interoperability between theMaterials and
another independently created program, on
payment of LAUNCH’sapplicable fee, ifany.
Customer shall observe strictobligations of
confidentiality with respect to such information
and shall use such information in compliance
with any applicable terms and conditions upon
which LAUNCH makes such information
available.
Software, Upgradesand Additional Copies. For
purposes of this Agreement, “Software”shall
include (and the terms and conditions of this
Agreement shall apply to) computer programs,
including firmware,as provided to Customer by
LAUNCH or an authorized LAUNCH reseller,and
any upgrades, updates, bug fixes or modified
versions thereto(collectively, “Upgrades”)or
backup copiesof theSoftware licensed or
provided to Customer byLAUNCHor an
authorized LAUNCH reseller.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANYOTHER PROVISION
OF THIS AGREEMENT:(1) CUSTOMER HAS
NO LICENSEOR RIGHTTOUSE ANY
ADDITIONALCOPIESOR UPGRADES
UNLESS CUSTOMER, ATTHE TIME OF
ACQUIRING SUCH COPYOR
UPGRADE,ALREADYHOLDS AVALID
LICENSE TOTHE ORIGINALSOFTWARE AND
HAS PAID THE APPLICABLE FEEFOR THE
UPGRADE OR ADDITIONALCOPIES; (2) USE
OF UPGRADES IS LIMITED TOLAUNCH
EQUIPMENTFORWHICHCUSTOMERIS THE
ORIGINALENDUSER PURCHASER OR
LESSEE OR WHO OTHERWISE HOLDS A
VALID LICENSE TOUSE THE SOFTWARE
WHICH IS BEING UPGRADED; AND (3) THE
MAKING ANDUSE OFADDITIONALCOPIES IS
LIMITED TONECESSARY BACKUP
PURPOSES ONLY.
Proprietary Notices. Customer agrees to maintain
and reproduce all copyright andother proprietary
notices on all copies, in any form, of the Materials
in the same form and mannerthat such copyright
and other proprietary notices are included on the
Materials. Except as expressly
authorized in this Agreement, Customer shall not
make any copies or duplicatesof any Materials
without the prior written permission of LAUNCH.
Term and Termination. This Agreementand the
license granted herein shall remain effective until

terminated. Customer mayterminate this
Agreement and the license at any time by
destroying all copies ofMaterialsand any
Document. Customer’srights under this
Agreement will terminate immediately without
notice from LAUNCH if Customer fails to comply
with any provision ofthis Agreement. Upon
termination, Customer shall destroy all copies of
Software in itspossessionor control. All
confidentiality obligations ofCustomerand all
limitations of liability and disclaimers and
restrictions of warranty shall survive termination
of thisAgreement.
Customer Records. Customer grants to LAUNCH
and its independent accountants the right to
examine Customer’sbooks, records and
accounts during Customer'snormal business
hours to verify compliance with this Agreement.
In the event such audit discloses non-compliance
with this Agreement, Customer shall promptly pay
to LAUNCHthe appropriate licensefees,plus the
reasonable cost of conducting theaudit.
Export. Software, including technical data, may
be subject toPRC.export control laws, including
the PRC. Export Administration Act and its
associated regulations, and may be subject to
export or import.

PrecautionsonOperation
lPlease read the construction before operation.
lDo not collide when operation.
lAfter flickering, unplug themain socketwhen norun orchaos screen. Reinsert the plug then
operate.
lBe careful when connect the main cable and the diagnosis socket. Tighten the screw fastener and
avoid disconnecting or destroying the interface.
lHandle with care.Avoid collision. Unplug the power after operation.
lHold the connector when plug or unplug it. Do not pull the cablefor unplugging.
SafetyPrecautions
lAutomotive batteries contain sulfuric acid that is harmful to skin. When operation, direct contactwith
the automotive batteries should be avoided. Pay attention not to splash the sulfuric acid into eyes.
Keep ignition sources away from the battery at all times.
lEngines produce variouspoisonous compounds (hydrocarbon,carbon monoxide, azote oxid, etc,)
which should be avoided.
lAvoid contacting high temperature assembly such as watertankand vent-pipe as the temperature
of the running engine is very high.
lBefore starting engine, put the speed lever in the neutral position or in the Pposition to avoid injury.
lWear an ANSI-approved eye shield when testing orrepairing vehicles.
lIf you are using the battery as a power source, connect the RED(+) battery clip to the positive of the
vehicle battery and the BLACK (-) battery clip to thenegative.
PrecautionsonOperatingVehicleECU
lDo not disconnect the vehicle inner battery when connect the ignition switch. When disconnection,
transient voltage is very high, which may damage thesensor and ECU.
lDo not put the wireless reproducer near to the computer.
lDo cut off the power supply of the ECUsystem before jointing on the vehicle.
lPay more attention to the ECU and sensor when operation is next to the ECU and sensor.
lDo not use the pointer ohm meterinstead of digital instrumentfor testing ECU andsensor without
special explanation.
lDo not test electricdevices in relation with theECU by astrobolamp unless otherwiseexpressly
provided.
lPeople who getin andout thevehicle must wearan earthingmetal strip withone endon thewrist
and the other on the vehicle body.
lPay attention to connect the ECU terminal.

Introduction
X-431TOPautomobile work station (short for X-431TOP) is anewly developed automobile diagnostic
computer by LAUNCH. It succeeds to the fruits of many years’hard work and successful experience
achieved by LAUNCH inthe auto aftermarket field, which enhance the function of diagnosis with
available more than 100 series. Besides its functions in readingtrouble code and data stream, actuation
test, read control module, adaptation, resetting maintain/ oil indicator and control unit code ,X-431TOP
also has thefunctions of vehicleoscilloscope,ignition analysis,vehicle sensorand vehicle information
query, and these functions required several instruments once,now only one X-431TOP.
X-431TOPis designed with fission type: the main unit is separate from the terminal.The terminal is
actually a test box, connecting to the correct port or component by cables (diagnostic cable, signal cable,
etc.), which is used to collect signals or cache. The main unit, with large LCD multicolor touch screen,
mainly deals, displays and controls the signals. X-431TOPmainunit connects the terminal by bluetooth,
so users can diagnose and checkthe vehicle by touching screen in anywhere.
Multilanguage display makes operation convenient in different countries and regions.
The function ofsoftware update viaInternet makesit easyfor customer toget thelatest diagnostic
program and keep pace with the development of automotive technology.As new auto series released
continuously in themarket,LAUNCHwill intime developthe corresponding diagnosticsoftwareof new
series, new systems and new functions, and will release the software onwww.X431.com.

X-431TOPOperation
Starting
After the X-431TOPTerminal (power,diagnostic
cable, etc. Formore details,please refer to the
explanation of connection below)is correctly
connected, press the button toPower ON the
X-431TOPTerminal (refer to Not available
X-431TOPTerminal ports and buttons), then
press the power button to power ON the main
unit (For more details about other operation of
X-431TOPmain unit, please referto the manual
supplied with themainunit). Several minutes
later,the X-431TOPmain unit automatically
enters the X-431TOPmenu (fig.2-1).The
X-431TOPmain unit automaticallycommunicates
with the X-431TOPTerminal by bluetooth.

X-431TOPautomobile diagnosticworkstation
provides 5functions:vehicle diagnosis, vehicle
osilloscope, ignitionanalysis,vehicle sensor and
vehicle autobase..With stochastic help,it is easy
to navigate by pressing buttons.
Vehicle diagnosis:The following functions are
applicable for all vehicles: read trouble code ,
clear trouble code, read datastream and
actuation test function.It has other functions for
different vehicle models.For details, please refer
to the newly-developped vehicle diagnosis
programm.
Vehicle oscilloscope:This function is uesd to
test the vehicle circuit output waveform with a
built-in storagecapacity of 100pages of
waveforms.It hasperfectdisplay control and
trigger mode.Itcan alsotest and display
waveforms from 4 chunnels at one time.
Ignition analysis:Provide ignition waveform
analysis including distributor system
anglysis ,independent ignition system analysis
and simultenous ignition system analysis.
Vehicle sensor: For testing theoutput DC,
resistance，frequency signal of the sensor and
simulating the output voltage signal, square wave
signal, standard output wave form signal of
sensor and arbitrary wave form signal drawn by
users.
Vehicle autobase:Provide inquiry function for
circuit diagram and sensor information for curent
normal vehicle model.
ButtonsDescriptions
Parameter setting. Use this button to
alter the current parameter.
Save the current result.
Check the saved test records.
Use this button forhelp whenyou meet
trouble.
Confirm and execute.

Connection Description
Choose the correct port, then connect the vehicle
socket to main cable and connect the main cable
to the X-431TOPTerminal (See fig. below).

Interface Operation
1. The main mask of the vehicle fault diagnosis
is shown as in fig.3-1.Press [vehicle fault
diagnosis] on the X-431TOPmain mask as
shown in fig.2- 1,then enter).
2. After conneting according to the vehicle fault
diagnosis diagram.,choose the tested
vehicle then press [OK]and enter the
corresponding vehicle [GAG]as shown in fig.
3-2
3. Choose the diagnosis version(after the
upgrading of the diagnosis programm,the old
and new version coexist so there are many
versions can be selected),then press
[download].After downloading(start torun it
after loading it into memory),then enter the
system choose mask as shown in fig3- 3
NOTE:
There will be some differences during the
process of entering the system because of
the different sort of the vehicle series,
therefore the main operation is similar.Please
according to the clue when operate.
4. After entering thesystem choosemask, the
screen will display the diagnosis function
choose mask as shown in fig. 3-4

VehicleOscilloscope
Vehicle oscilloscope does not only grasp the
circuit signal, but also can display these
waveforms with slow speed. Vehicle oscilloscope
can record the signal waveform by storage and
can replay the fast signal. In thus, itis very
convenient to analyse thefaults, including the
fast signals (e.g. injector signal and intermittence
fault signal) andslowsignals (e.g. throttle
position variation signal and oxygen sensor
signal).
Connection Description
Connect one end of the batterycable w/two clips
to the battery for electricity, and connect the other
end to the X-431TOPterminal DC port(refer to
the X-431TOPterminal button and port
description). Connect the oscilloscope GND
cable to theX-431TOPterminal GNDchannel.
When the oscilloscope cablecan’tbe connected
to the signal port, the electrical controlcable can
be used to connect the oscilloscope cable with
the signal port.

Attention: Please use the special capacitance
probe when diagnose theignition high
tension line. Do notdirectly connect the
oscilloscope to the ignition secondary circuit.
NOTE:
1. From cigar lighter: insertone endof the
cigar lighter cableinto the lighter socket
in vehicle andconnect the otherend to
the DC power connector of X-431TOP
Terminal.
2. From double-clip power cable: connect
one end ofthe double-clip powercable to
the positive battery and the other end to
the negative.
3. From power patch cord: connect one end
of the powerpatch cord to the 100-240V
AC socket and theother endto the jack
of the on-off power.Andconnect the
power jack to the DC power connector.
OscilloscopeMenu
Fig.7 shows the entering vehicle oscilloscope
menu. (Default “trigger”menu).
Parameter setting is in the left.
Trigger source: the trigger channel of
oscilloscope[channel(CH1),channel(CH2),
channel(CH3), channel(CH4)]. The chosen
channel is light.
Trigger mode: (auto～normal) and (single～
continuum). When in the auto mode, trigger as
receive the signal.When in the normal mode,
trigger as satisfied the trigger requirements
(leading edge or trailing edge, trigger level,
trigger point). When in the single mode, triggering
once can display onewaveform.Whenin the
continuum mode, thevariationof continuous
waveform can be displayed.
Trigger edge:the leadingedgeor trailingedge of
waveform. Clicking [leading] or [trailing] can
switch mutually.
Trigger level: the original voltage value of
waveform with regulation by [up] and [down].
Trigger point:toregulate the horizontal position
of signal trigger with [leftward] and [rightward].
Note: When the numericalvalue and cursor
don’toccur,please choose the relevant
channel display in the display setting”menu.
