Sensitivity and "ON"-"OFF"Knob:

theknobclockwisewillturntheuniton, adturning
theknobbeck
thefullcounterclockwise positionwillturnthe unitoff.Turningthe
knob in a continued clockwise msnnerwill increasethe receiver
sensitivity and weaker echos from deeper water can and will be
observedon thedial.
After mounting thetransducer, turntheunit on byturningthesen-
sitivity knob clockwise.. You willsee theconstant surtace signal at
zero. Before long you will see snother signal — atten feAt ifthe
water is ten feet deep. The signal indicetes.thebottom. lt too,
should always s.how:
Continueturning
the
sensitivitycontroltowardtherightand yàuwill
see asecond bottom signal at double thedepth ofthefirst,or 20
feet.Thesound wavas have hitbottom, bouncedback, hitthesur-
face ofthewater, then bounced,
down and up again. Over a firm
bottom youcan incieasethesensitivityuntilthedialshowsthree
or
fourbottomsignals at multiples ofthe true depth.
Thesensitivity isadjustableand youshould always
setittoreturna
steady
bottom
signal—nearly
asbright
asthezero
signal—regsid-
less ofdepth. Turnthekrob counterclockwisewhen you bginto
getthedouble signal;cjockcwisewhenthebottom signal be:ins to
fade.
