ET-905WS INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Congratulations on your purchase of the new Williams-Sonoma Wireless BBQ Thermometer. This
unit will allow you to see the temperature of your food cooking in the oven or on the grill from
anywhere in your home. The unit beeps you when your food is ready. The following instructions will
show you how to easily use the thermometer.
Components
1. 1– Receiver unit

3. 1– Detachable stainless steel FOOD probe
4. 1–AAA batteries (4 included)
Receiver Features
● LCD(LiquidCrystalDisplay)–Displaysallicons,temperatureandtime.
● BATTERYCOMPARTMENT–Holds2AAAbatteries.
Buttons
1. ▲/HR–InTHERMOMETERMODE,presstoincreasethesettemperature.Pressoncetoincrease
1degree.InTIMERMODE,whentheTIMERisstopped,presstosetthehour.Pressonceto
increase 1 hour. In both modes press and hold to increase 10 digits per second.
2. ▼/MIN–InTHERMOMETERMODE,presstodecreasethesettemperature.Pressonceto
decrease1degree.InTIMERMODE,whentheTIMERisstopped,presstosettheminute.Press
once to decrease 1 minute. In both modes press and hold to increase 10 digits per second.
3. MEAT/ –Inanymode,pressoncetoturnonthebacklightfor10seconds.Inthethermometer
mode,whentheBacklightison,pressoncetoselectthemeattype:Beef Veal Lamb
Pork Chicken Turkey Hamburg Beef…
4. CLEAR/ºC/ºF–Inthermometermode,pressoncetoselectthetemperatureunitsofmeasure
eitherºForºC.Inthetimermode,pressoncetocleartimesettingwhenthetimerisnot
countingInthethermometermodeorTimermode,pressandholdfor2secondstoenterthe
RFregistermode.Theunitwillash“---“.PressagaintoexitthisRFregistermode.
5. TASTE–Inthethermometermode,pressoncetoselectthetastelevelofthecurrentmeat.
The taste level may vary according to different meat selected. The corresponding default
temperature setting will display.
6. MODE/ –Whentheunitison,pressoncetoselectthethermometermodeorthetimermode.
Pressandholdfor2secondstoturnthereceiverunitONorOFF.
7. START/STOP–Intimermode,whenthetimedisplayis0:00,pressoncethetimerwillstartto
countup,andtheicon“ ”willblink.IftheTimerisn’t0:00,pressoncetoactivatethetimerto
countdown,andtheicon“ ”willblink.Inthetimermode,whenthetimeriscounting,press
oncethetimerwillstopcountingtemporally.Ifpressagain,thetimerwillcontinuetocount.
Transmitter Features
Components:
1. 1–BATTERYCOMPARTMENT–holds2AAAbatteries.
2. 1– Stainless steel FOOD probe.
3. 1–LEDLight.
Buttons
1. Re-sync –Transmitmanually,terminatestheautoregistrationprocess.Pressandholdfor2
secondstoregistertheRegistrationCodewiththereceiverthroughradiofrequency.
2. Power –Pressandholdfor2secondstoturnthetransmitterON/OFF.
3. TheLEDwillickertwicewhentheunitisturnedonorwhentheRe-syncbuttonispressedand
held for 2 seconds.
Installing the batteries:
Openthebatterycompartmentofthereceiverandinserttwo“AAA”batterieswithcorrect
polarity.Andthenopenthebatterycompartmentofthetransmitterandinserttwo“AAA”
batteries with correct polarity.
Registering Receiver & Transmitter:
1. WHENUSEDASATHERMOMETER:Firstyoumustregisterthebaseunitwiththeremoteunit(the
remoteunithasthedisplayshowingthefoodselections).Toregistertheunit,pleasedothe
following:
 ● TurntheunitonbyholdingtheMODEbuttonfor2secondsonthereceiverunituntilyou
heartheBEEPsound.
 ● Pluginthestainlesssteelprobeintothetransmitterunitandturnonthetransmitterunitby
pressing and holding the buttonfor2secondsastheLEDwillickertwice.Thismustbe
done within 120 seconds of turning the unit on.
 ● Whenthetransmitterturnedon,theprobetemperaturewilldisplayonreceiverafter
pluggingintheprobe.WhilethetemperatureappearsontheLCDtheunitwillbeeponce.
 ● Ifthisdoesnothappenrepeattheaboveprocedures.
NOTE: THE PROBE MUST BE PLUGGED INTO THE TRANSMITTER FOR THE UNIT TO WORK.
2. ONCETHEUNITISON:PresstheMODEbuttonagaintochangetheunitfromthethermometer
functiontothetimerfunction.Thisbuttonwillchangethefeatureoftimer/thermometerback
and forth.
Loss link alert:
HOWTOKNOWIFTHESIGNALISLOST:Thereceiverunitwillnormallyworkwithin150feetofthe
transmitter.Ifthereceiveristakenoutofrangeorthereisabnormalexternalinterferencethe
receiver may not be able to receive the transmission from the transmitter. Four minutes after this
happenstheunitwillalertyoubybeepingonceforevery4seconds,meanwhile,the“---“willash
on the display to tell you to re-sync the signal. If this happens you need to move the unit close to
the transmitter and follow the following instructions.
Toregaintransmissionsignal,thefollowingmeasurescanbetaken.
1. Movethereceiverclosetothetransmittertoseeifthereceivercanregainsignal.Ifthis
doesn’twork,thefollowingtwoprocedurescanbefollowed.

 ● HoldtheCLEARbuttonfor2secondsuntiltheprobetemperaturedashedlinesstarttoblink
---.
 ● PressandholdtheRESYNCbutton ofthetransmitterandtheLEDwillickerforafew
seconds. This has to be done within 120 seconds of turning the unit on.
 ● Ifthereceiverisregisteredsuccessfully;thereceiverwillbeeponceandshowtheprobe
temperature.Ifregistrationisnotsucceeded,after12seconds,repeattheaboveprocess
again.
3. TurnOFFtheReceiverandthenturnbackONwiththe---showingontheLCD.Pressandhold
theRESYNCbutton of the transmitter 2 seconds within 120 seconds and the temperatures
should appear on the receiver display.
SETTING THE SELECTED FOOD TEMPERATURE:
The unit is programmed with pre-set temperatures for 7 types of meats. These temperatures are
recommendedbybothmajorcookbooksandtheUSDAforfoodsafety.
Thechartoftheselectedtemperaturesisasfollows:
TOSELECTASPECIFICTYPEOFMEAT:Pressthebuttonmarked“MEAT”andscrollthroughthe
selectionuntilthetypeofmeat(BEEF,VEAL,CHICKEN,ETC)showsontheLCD(display).
TOSELECTYOUROWNPREFERREDTEMPERATURE:Onceyouhaveselectedatemperatureand
foodselection–forinstanceBEEF–RARE–youcancustomizethetemperaturesettingbyusing
theHR/▲signtoincreasethetemperaturesettingortheMIN/▼toreducethetemperature
setting.
Temperature Alerts formats
IntheTHERMOMETERMODE,whenthesettemperatureisreached,thereceiverwillalertyouby
beeping 3 times a second. The probe temperature will blink along with the alert sound. At the
sametimethealerticonwillash.Tocancelthealertpressanybuttonontheunit.
SeebelowexamplesofwhattheLCDwilllooklike:
TIMER MODE
Count down
1. PressandholdtheMODE/ buttontoswitchtheunitfromTHERMOMETERMODEtoTIMER
MODE.0:00,withasmallCLOCKiconwillbedisplayed.
2. Pressthe▲/HRbuttontosetthehourandMIN/▼buttontosettheminute.
3. PressSTART/STOPbuttontostartcountdowntimer.Theicon“ ” will blink.
4. PresstheSTART/STOPbuttontostopthecountdown.The“ ” will be solid.
5. PresstheCLEAR,ºC/ºFbuttontoclearthesettingbackto0:00.
Note: The minimum setting for the timer is 1 minute and the maximum setting is 23 hours and 59
minutes. When the countdown reaches “0:00” the timer starts counting up and it will beep for 30
seconds. The “0:00” and “ ” will blink. Meanwhile, it will beep twice per second. Press the any
button to stop the beep.
Count up
1. PressandholdtheMODE/ buttontoswitchtheunitfromTHERMOMETERMODEtoTIMER
MODE.0:00,withasmallCLOCKiconwillbedisplayed.
2. PresstheSTART/STOPbuttontostartcountup.Theicon“ ” will blink.
3. PressSTART/STOPbuttontostopthecountup.The“ ” will be solid.
4. PresstheCLEAR,ºC/ºFbuttontoclearthesettingbackto0:00.
Note: When the count up timer reaches 24, it will keep displaying as 24, meanwhile, the unit
beeps with the “ ” icon blinking for 30 seconds. Meanwhile, it will beep twice per second.

THETIMERCANBEUSEDWHILETHETHERMOMETERISALSOINUSE.ITWILLRUNINTHEBACKGROUND
ANDCANBEVIEWEDBYPRESSINGTHEMODETOSWITCHBACKFROMTIMERTOTHERMOMETER.
Helpful Hints
Ifthereceiverand/orthetransmitterdisplayLLLorHHHinsteadoftheprobetemperature,wait
forprobetoreachroomtemperature.IfLLLorHHHisstilldisplayed,itislikelytheinternalprobe
wire has shorted out either through moisture or heat damage.
Do not immerse the probe in water while cleaning.
Donotallowtheprobeorprobewiretocomeintocontactwithames.
If the temperature displayed seems to read too high or the temperature seems to increase too
quickly,checktomakesuretheprobetipisnotpokingthroughthefoodtooutside.Reposition
the probe tip in the center of the thickest part of food. Avoid touching bone or heavy fat areas.
Cautions:
1. Always wear a heat resistant glove to touch the stainless steel probe sensors or wires during or
just after cooking. Do not touch with bare hands.
2. Keepthestainlesssteelprobesensorsandwiresawayfromchildren.
3. Clean the stainless steel probes and dry thoroughly after each and every use.
4. Donotusethereceiverintherain.ItisNOTrainproof.Thetransmitterisrainproofbutnot
water tight. Do not immerse in water.
5. Donotexposetheplugsofthestainlesssteelprobesorthepluginholesofthetransmitterto
wateroranyliquid.Thiswillresultinabadconnectingandfaultyreadings.
6. Donotexposethereceiverortransmittertodirectheatorsurface.
7. Do not use stainless steel probes in microwave oven.
8. The Food Thermometer registers temperatures as low as 32 ºF (0 ºC) and as high as 572 ºF (300
ºC).LLLwillbedisplayedbelow32ºFandHHHwillbedisplayedabove572ºF.Donotusethe
stainless probe sensor above 572 ºF. Doing so will deteriorate the wire.
9. NotIntendedforUsebyPersonsages12andUnder.
Cleaning
1. Always wear a heat resistant glove to touch the stainless steel probe sensors or wires during or
just after cooking. Do not touch with bare hands.
2. Keepthestainlesssteelprobesensorsandwiresawayfromchildren.
3. Wash the metal probe tips with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the
probe in water while cleaning.
4. Wipe the transmitter and receiver with damp cloth. Do not immerse either in water.
