1. GENERAL INFORMATION
Thank you for purchasing the High Impact Pulse Oximeter for SpO2% and Pulse
Rate (PR) measurement. Please BE SURE TO comply with the instructions
specified in this manual. Please keep this manual for future reference. Medline
reserves the right to make changes in specifications and features shown herein, or
discontinue the product described at any time without notice or obligation. Also,
the content of the manual is subject to change without prior notice. Medline

NOTE: The illustration used in this manual may differ slightly from the appearance
of the actual product.
PLEASE READ THE MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS DEVICE.
2. MEASUREMENT PRINCIPLE
The oximeter is calibrated to display functional oxygen saturation. The operating
principle of the Oximeter is as follows: A standard baseline is established making
use of the Lambert Beer Law according to Spectrum Absorption Characteristics of
reductive hemoglobin(R Hb) and Oxyhemoglobin (O2 Hb) in red and near-infrared
zones. The operation principle of the instrument is that Photoelectric Oxyhemo-
globin Inspection Technology in accordance with Capacity Pulse Scanning and
Recording Technology. Two beams of light at different wavelengths (660nm glow
and 940nm near infrared light) are focused on the human fingernail through a
clamp-type finger sensor. The measured signal is received by a photosensitive
element, and the information is displayed on the display.
3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
- Make sure the oximeter is in good conditions before taking a measurement.
- Do not use the PULSE OXIMETER in situations where alarms are required. The
device has no alarms.
- Explosion hazard: Do not use the PULSE OXIMETER in an explosive atmosphere.
- The PULSE OXIMETER has no SpO2 alarms, so it is not for continuous
monitoring, as indicated by the symbol .
- DO NOT drop the Pulse Oximeter, dropping may cause damage to it.
- DO NOT crush the Pulse Oximeter or place heavy objects on it, as this may cause
damage to it.
- DO NOT open or disassemble the device, opening and disassembly may cause
damage to the oximeter.
- Avoid spilling liquids on to the pulse oximeter, and keep the display panel
upward and horizontal.
- Keep away from sources of fire and/or heat.
- DO NOT strike or needle the battery or pulse oximeter.
- Follow local ordinances and recycling instructions regarding disposal or recycling
of the device and components, including batteries.
4. INACCURATE MEASUREMENTS MAY BE CAUSED BY:
- Sterilizing the device using autoclaving, ethylene oxide sterilizing, or immerse
the sensors in liquid which may cause inaccurate readings. The device is not
intended for sterilization.
- IF UNIT DOES NOT DISPLAY READING:move pulse oximeter to a smaller
finger;reposition finger inside of unit;if finger is cold, warm hands then re-try.
- Significant levels of dysfunctional hemoglobins (such as carboxyhemoglobin or
methemoglobin).
- Intravascular dyes such as indocyanine green or methylene blue.
- SpO2 measurements may be adversely affected in the presence of high ambient
light. Shield the sensor area from direct sunlight, for example) if necessary.
- Excessive movement, Hypotension, severe vasoconstriction, severe anemia, or
hypothermia
- High-frequency electrosurgical interference and defibrillators.
- Venous pulsations
- Placement of a sensor on an extremity with a blood pressure cuff.
- Fingernail polish or false fingernails may cause inaccurate SpO2 readings.
