The Scorpion™ DX makes use of an “ATM-style” interface, where the individual
button functions are determined by the information displayed on the screen. Press-
ing a button that corresponds to a desired game/option icon will activate that game/
option. References, in this manual, to “pressing a button” mean to press the button
corresponding to the icon displayed on the screen.

SITE PREPARATION
In determining the location for your
SCORPION™ DX dart game, consid-
eration must be given to the location
of a suitable, grounded electrical out-
let, as well as an accessible phone
jack. Since the game is a computer-
ized device, it should have a separate
circuit, if at all possible. If a circuit is
not available, care should be taken to
provide a clean and constant voltage.
Asabasicguideline,neverconnectthe
unittoacircuitthatalsosupplies power
to freezers, coolers or other high
power-consuming and electrical
noise-makingequipment.
Thegameshouldbeprominentlylocated
toattractattention,butnotwheregames
will be interrupted by people walking
throughtheplayingarea. The playarea
must extend approximately 8' from the
frontofthemachinetoaccommodatethe
throwline.

SET-UP AND INSTALLATION
Floor Model Installation
1. Locateandremovetheplasticbagstapledto
thetopofthebasesection. Thisbagcontains
thegamekeys.
2. Open the control panel door
andpull upon the targetsec-
tionuntiltheVelcrolatchonthe
targetsectiondoorseparates
from the Velcro hook on the
basesection.Continuepulling
the target section up until it
locksinto itsupright position.
Becarefulnottodamage any
ofthecablesthatrunfromthe
target section into the base
section. Close the control
paneldoor.RefertoFigure1.
3. Usetheprovidedkeytounlock
the target door. In the upper,
rightcorner ofthe target sec-
tionyouwillseeasafetyhook
holdingthe door inits closed
position. Push the hook up-
ward to release the target
door. Inside, stapled to the
floorofthetargetsection,you
willfindaplasticbagwiththree
threaded knobs. Place the
knobs and washers in the
holes provided, as shown in
Figure3.
4. Close the targetsectiondoor.
5. Using the key provided, open the coin box
door.
6. Locate and remove thebag ofhardware in-
side the coin box. This hardware is used to
securethe gameto the wall.Refer tothe in-
structionscontained withinthe bag to prop-
erlyinstallthehook needed foryourapplica-
tion.
7. Move the game into position. Adjust the
levelersuntil thegame doesnot rockand is
stable;usethelevelbuiltintothecontrolpanel
ofthe gameto determinewhen thegame is
level.Attachthe safetychainfrom the game
to the wall hook installed in
Step6.
8. Setthefloormarkforthethrow
line.IntheU.S.A.,thethrowline
shouldbeplaced8feetfromthe
faceofthetarget. InsomeEu-
ropeancountries,thethrowline
distanceisplaced2.44meters
or2.37metersfromthefaceof
the target. Consult your local
rules for throw line distances.
The throw line decal can be
foundinthecoinbox.
9. Remove the line cord from its
slot at the bottom, rear of the
game (see Figure 1 for loca-
tion).Plugthecordintothewall
outletandpowerupthegame.

1. Ifyoudecidetomovethegame
toa differentlocationand you
do not have access to a large
van or vehicle, you may need
todisassemblethetargetfrom
the base. In those circum-
stances,followthestepsbelow.
2. Unplugthepowercordfromthewallandstore
it in the slot at the rear of the base of the
game.
3. With the game in the upright position,open
thecontrolpaneldoor.Disconnectthetarget
lamppowercordfromthepowersupply.Un-
hookthelightpowercordfromtheclipshold-
ingitinplacetothebackofthecabinet. Also
disconnectthe main wiring harness or har-
nessesthatmayconnectbetweenthetarget
andbase sections.Close and lockthe con-

trolpaneldoor.
4. Unlock and open the target section door.
Carefullypullthetargetlamppowercordand
otherwiringharnessesupintothetargetcom-
partment.Next, removethe largeblack as-
semblyknobsandwashers.Storetheknobs
outside of the target section for future use.
Carefully close and lock the target section
door. Remove all keys from the targetdoor
lock.
5. Locate the anti-tipbracketon the rearofthe
cabinet(see Figure1). Pull upwardson the
bracket while folding the top section down.
Makesure thatthe top unitis restingon the
metalsupportbracketandthattheVelcrolatch
onthetargetsectionsecurelyalignswiththe
Velcro hook onthebasesection.
6. Standing at thebackfacingthefolded down
targetsection,place one handonthe target
sectionandapplyasmallamountofforcefor-
wardto holdthe sectionin place.With your
otherhand,takethe hinge pinthatisbent to
formahandleandpulloutward.(SeeFigure
2.) Make sure that the hinge pin is fully re-
moved.Repeat the sameprocedure for the
otherhingepin.
7. Youarenowreadytoremovethetargetsec-
tion.Liftthetargetsectionupwardslightlyand

position it over the safety base hook. Place the
targetsection,HINGEENDONLY,onthefloor.
NOTE: DO NOT RESET THE TARGET SECTION
ON THE HOOD END. REST IT ON THE HINGE
END ONLY. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD DAM-
AGE CABLES OR OVERHEAD DISPLAY.
Reassembly of the Target Section to
the Base Section
1. The reassembly of the target section is
very similar to that of disassembly. Position the
target section so that it is resting on the wood
strip located above the Velcro at the bottom of
the base. Align the hinges of the target section
withthe base sectionhinge pins.Installthe hinge
pins, locking them into position. Refer to
Figure 3.
NOTE: YOU MAY HAVE TO LIFT THE TARGET
SECTION SLIGHTLY TO ALLOW THE HINGE
PINS TO MOVE FREELY INTO THE LOCKED
POSITION.
2. Openthecontrolpaneldoor.
3. Make sure that the hinge pins are in the locked
position.Nextswing thetargetsection up intoits
uprightposition.
4. Very carefully openthe targetsectionfront door.
Placethelargeblackassemblyknobsandwash-
ersintotheholethattheywereremovedfromdur-
ingdisassembly. (Refer to“Floor ModelInstalla-
tion,”Step3.)
5. Locate the overhead light power cableinthecon-
trol panel section. Feed the cable down into the
base and reconnect it to the power supply. Also
reconnectthemainharnessorharnessesthatin-
terconnectbetweenthesections.
6. Closealldoors.Repositionthegameandconnect
thesafety chainto the wall.Plug thepower cord
intoawalloutlet and turnonthepower.
Installing a PCMCIA Modem
1. Turnoffthe game.
2. Open the control panel door and locate the
PCMCIAslotsontheCPUboard.
3. Plug the modem phone line adapter cord
(includedwith the modem)into the modem.See
Figure4.
4. Install the modem into the rear PCMCIA slot (to
allow the front slot to be used for PC-card data
transfer).SeeFigure5.
5. Remove the strainreliefplate andrunthe phone
linethroughtheholeinthecommunicationboard
plate and connect it to the phone jack (you may
needto usean adapter toextend thephone line
that comes with the modem). See Figure 6. Re-
placethestrainreliefovertheholeandtightenthe
thumbnutstosecurethemodemline.

Linking Multiple DX Games
Up to 32 DX games can be networked together
within a location.
To connect your games, follow the instructions
below.
1. Using RS485 cable, connect one endtothecom-
municationsboardofone game andconnectthe
otherendtothecommunicationsboardonanother
DXgame.(RS485CABLEISNOTPHONELINE.
DONOTUSEREGULARPHONELINETOLINK
YOURGAMES. YOU NEEDTOUSE SPECIAL
RS485CABLE.ALSO,IFALONGERCABLEIS
NEEDED,CONTACT MERIT INDUSTRIESOR
YOURDISTRIBUTOR;DONOT EXTEND THE
CABLEUSINGANADAPTERORTHELINKWILL
NOTWORK!YOU MAYUSEAN ADAPTER TO
EXTENDTHEMODEMPHONECORD,IFNEC-
ESSARY. (SEE THE PARTS LIST FOR CABLE
PART NUMBERS).
2. Continue linking games in this manner until all
gamesareconnectedinseries;DONOTconnect
thegamesin aclosedcircuit (i.e.donot connect
thelastgame inthechain tothefirst gameinthe
chain).
NOTE: DO NOT CONNECT A PHONE LINE TO
THE COMMUNICATIONS BOARD JACKS ON
THE DX GAME. THIS WILL BURN OUT THE
BOARD!

The Operator Setup Screen
Accessedbypressingthe<TEST> button locatedinthecontrolpanelsection,
the Operator Setup screen allows the operator to access any of the
operator-adjustablefunctions (setthe coin mechvalues, setindividual game
pricingandroundlimits,reviewbooks information, set thegamelanguage,set
thetime,transferdata,checkgamepopularity,setvariousgameoptions)andto
accessthegame’soperatortestmode(eachofthese functions isexplainedin
moredetail later inthis section).The software revisionblock, atthe bottom of
thescreen, displaysthe buildtime/date, versionand revisionof thecurrently
installedprogram.
The Coin Mech Setup Screen
Fromthisscreentheoperatorcansetthevalues(for“Coins In,”“CreditsGiven”
and“CounterValue”) forupto two (2)mechanicalmechs or four(4)electronic
mechs.To set thevaluesfor agivenmech, use theUPand DOWNarrowbut-
tonstoselectthecoinmechandentertheappropriatevaluesusingthekeypad.
Pressing<EXIT>returnsyoutotheOperatorSetupScreen.
The Game Pricing and Round Limits
Screen
At this screen, the operator can set the standard and Happy Hour pricing
foreach gameand setthe roundlimits. Toset theprices and/orround limits
for a particular game, use the UP and DOWN arrow buttons to highlight the
desiredgame andenter thenew price/roundsusing the keypad. Setting the
round limit to “00” sets the game for unlimited rounds. See the Set Happy
Hours screen for setting Happy Hours.
The ’01 Options Pricing Feature allows the operator to charge an extra
credit for selecting an option for an ’01 game.
The ’01LeagueDiscountFeature allowstheoperatortosetthecostforall301,
401and501gamesto1CR,regardlessofoptionsselectedandnormalcostof
thegameforteam/leagueplay.
The Books Screen
Thisscreen willallow the operator to viewand clearboth currentand lifetime
booksinformation.Clearing lifetimebookswill alsoresetthe Bonus Spin,Idle
Mode,FreePlayCredits,LeagueDuesandtheBuyinCreditscounters. Press-
ing<EXIT>returnsyoutotheOperatorSetupScreen.

The Game Setup Screen
From this screen the operator can set the game volume, set the contrast of
the LCD display, adjust the delay for the automatic player change (APC),
set the delay for the button-press player change, toggle the 3-dart Out Dis-
play on and off and remove any unused credits that are currently on the
machine.Pressing <EXIT> returnsyouto the OperatorSetupScreen.Press-
ing <MORE SETTINGS> will access the Machine Setup Screen.
TheAPC and thebutton pressplayer change delayscan beset to 1through
8 seconds (in 1 second increments).
The Machine Setup Screen allows the operator to toggle on and off the
target alarm, the microphone, the ultrasonics, free play mode, bonus spin
and the idle mode promotional credit. Pressing <RESET TO FACTORY
DEFAULTS> will reset ALL game settings to the factory defaults (not just
the settings displayed at this screen). Pressing <GAME RULES SETUP>
will access the Game Rules Screen.
The Rounds Limit Buy In feature allows the player to continue play, after a
game has reached its round limit (this function only applies to games with
round limits). Setting the Round Limit Buy In to "ON" activates the round
limit buy in feature.
The Bonus Credit Feature provides a random match feature at the end of
each game. A randomly selected number is compared to the 1’s digit of all
players’scores.Credits equalto the cost of thegame areawarded foreach
matching digit.
The Promo Credits Feature automatically provides a free credit after the
machine has been in idle mode for approximately 30 minutes. This credit
can be removed by pressing the Cancel Game button.
The GameRulesScreen allowstheoperatortoconfigurethebullseye’sdefault
settings,settheCricketteamwinrules,setthe freezerulefor‘01games,toggle
thestat displayon andoff, set the missed dart sound on or offandtoggle the
statsmodebetweenSTANDARD and NDA(seepage18forstatsinformation).
Pressing<EXIT>returnsyoutotheOperatorSetupScreen.
The Game Popularity Screen
Thisscreen allows theoperator toseethe popularityof each individualgame
(displayed in number of times played), as well as view the popularity of Solo
Challenger
®
.Pressing<EXIT>returnsyoutotheOperatorSetupScreen.

The Operator Test Mode Screen
Fromthisscreen theoperatorcan testallof thegame’sphysicalfeatures:the
barcodereader,theoverheaddisplay, cricketLEDs,gamebuttons, the target,
themicrophone,thecoinmechsandalllamps,aswellasthegame’sRAMand
RTC(realtimeclock)andinter-gamecommunications.UsetheUPandDOWN
arrowsto highlight thedesired testand press <EXECUTETEST> tostart the
test.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentoperformeachtest.Pressing<EXIT>
ReturnsyoutotheOperatorSetupScreen.
The Set Time/Date Screen
This screen allows the operator to set the system time and date, and to
access the Set Happy Hours Screen. The time and date may be set cor-
rectly at the factory, but this screen allows the operator to adjust them as
necessary for the local time zone. To set the time or date, select <SET
DATE> or <SET TIME> to activate that function and use the keypad to
enter the appropriate date/time. When entering a date, enter two digits for
day and month and the full 4-digit year. If setting the time, remember to set
itusing a 24-hourclock (e.g. 17:00,NOT 5:00(pm)).Pressing<SET HAPPY
HOURS> accesses the Happy Hours Pricing Screen.
The HappyHoursPricingScreen allowstheoperatortoprogramspecial“Happy
Hours”duringwhichthegamecanusespecialgameprices.ThespecialHappy
HourpricesaresetattheGamePricingandRoundLimitsScreen.HappyHours
arealsosetusinga24-hour clock.
The Game Language Screen
This screen allows the operator to set the game to any of the available lan-
guagesor totoggle on and offthe player-selectablelanguage feature(which
allowstheplayertochoosethegamelanguage).Pressing<EXIT> returnsyou
to the Operator Setup Screen.
The Data Transfer Screen
This screen gives the operator access to the game’s data transfer func-
tions:
1. Load League Data on to DX - used toload newleague data(player/team
stats,leagueschedule,matchformat,etc.)andadscreensontoaDXgame.*
2. GetNewMatchesfromDX-usedtoloadnewmatchdatafromtheDXonto
aPC-card.*
3. Get Books Data from DX - used to load books data from the DX onto a
PC-card.

4. Get All Matches fromDX -used toload all match data fromthe DXgame
ontoaPC-card(maximum42matches).

6. Get Machine SettingsfromDX-usedtoload machine settingsdatafroma
DXgameontoaPC-card.
7. Load New SoftwareVer.FromPC-Card - usedtoloadnewgamesoftware

8. Erase All MatchesonDX-usedtoeraseallmatchdatafromtheDXgame.
9. Erase League Data - RemovescurrentleaguedatafromtheDX.

DXaswellascompletedleaguematchinformation.
13.LoadInternetSettingsfromPC-Card-Usedtoloadpre-configuredInternet
configurationinformationprovidedfromLeagueTracker
14. SelectLocationNumber-Usedtoselectthelocationcalltimefortheinternet
communications.
15.SetInternet PhoneNumber- Sets thephone number forthelocal internet
serviceprovider.
16.PerformInternetTestCall- Performs animmediatecalltotheInternetSer-
viceprovidertoconfirmproperconfigurationatthelocation.
17.InternetCallReport-Reports the success/failure ofthelastcall.
18.ClearInternet Settings-Clears the presentInternetSettings and disables
communications.
Pressing <EXIT> returns you to the Operator Setup Screen.
For instructions on how to use the PC-Card, see page 11.
* These functions will upload/download data from all linked games. The
other functions must be performed on each individual machine.
Youmay safelyignore the communications functions ifyour arenot running
automated leagues on your DX's.

In order to make use of the upload and download features provided by the
Scorpion™DX, the operator must have a PC-card (PCMCIA card) or a
PC-card modem. See the parts list in this manual for PCMCIA card reader/
writer, PC-card and PC-card modem kit numbers. Contact your distributor
or Merit Industries to order.
PC-Card/PCMCIA Modem Operation Instructions
Ifyou areusing aPCMCIA modem for transfer of league data,make sureto
insert the modem card into the rear PCMCIA slot on the motherboard, so
that the front slot will be available for uploading and downloading informa-
tion using a PC-card (see Figure 5 for slot locations).
Touse aPC-card toupload ordownload information, follow the instructions
below.
1. Open the controlpanelsectionandinsertyour PC-card intothefront
PCMCIAslot.
2. EntertheDataTransferScreen.
3. Select the appropriate data transferfunction.
If multiple DX games are linked together, the data transfer functions listed
below will work for all of the linked games:
Setup Fax Header and Password
Load League Data on to DX
Get New Matches from DX
Load Machine Settings
Load Ad Screens
Erase Ad Screens
Theinformationwillautomaticallybetransferredto/fromallnetworkedgames;
all of the other data transfer functions require you to load/get the informa-
tion to/from each individual machine.

The Information Screen
TheInformationScreenisdisplayedbypressinganyofthegamebuttonswhile
thegameis intheidle mode.Thisscreen allowstheuser toaccessany ofthe
help/rulesscreens,read“HowtoPlay”instructions,learnaboutcurrenttourna-
mentsandcheckthelocalleagueschedule, withoutdepositinganycoins .
Rules/Help Screens
Rules/helpscreensare availableforall games andoptionson theScorpion
DX;they are accessiblefrom the idlemode, as wellas virtually allof the other
screens,andprovideplayerswithalloftheinformationneededtoplayagame.
Whileinarules/helpscreentheusermaypressoneofthebuttons(correspond-
ingtoanoptiontogetanexplanationofthatoption.Anexampleofan’01rules/
helpscreenisshownhere.
The Game Select Screen
After a coin has been inserted, or any button is pressed, the Game Select
Screen is displayed.
FromtheGame Select Screen,theuser can, bypressingthe appropriate but-
ton,selectany oftheavailable games, ortheuser caninitiateLEAGUE PLAY
(seetheLeaguePlaysectionofthismanualformoreinformation).Onceagame
buttonispressed,theGameSetupScreenisdisplayed.
The Secondary Game Screens
Afterselectingagame,asecondarygamescreenisdisplayed.For321Zapand
’01 games, this screen allows you to select any of the available options; for
CricketandNoveltygamesthisscreenallowsyoutoselectaspecificgame.The
Cricket secondary game screen is shown here. Once a game (or options) is
selected,thePlayerSelectscreen is displayed. (Selectingdifferentoptionsfor
eachplayerinagameisreferredtoas“optionshandicapping”andisdoneatthe
Handicappingscreen(seetheStartGameScreen).
The Player’s Section
This section contains game and game handicap selection information.

The Player Select Screen
Oncea game (andany options) hasbeen entered, thePlayer SelectScreen
is displayed. This screen shows the selected game and its cost and allows
the user to select the number of players or team modes:
Either select from one to four individual players, by pressing the appropri-
ate button on the left side of the display,
orselect fromtwo typesof teamplay, TraditionalandSplit Stats by press-
ing the appropriate button on the right side of the display.
Traditional team play has four players playing as two teams on four scores;
SplitStats team playallows four playersto play astwo teamsontwo scores,
but still maintain individual stats by odd and even rounds.
The Start Game Screen
Afterthenumberofplayershasbeenselected(and/orthetypeofteamplay),the
StartScreen is displayed.Each game type(e.g. Cricket, ’01,321Zap) has its
ownGame Play screen.This screen allowsthe user toaccess the MPR/PPD
andOptionsHandicappingscreens,settheBullseyeModeandaccesstheSolo
Challenger
®
screen.
The Solo Challenger®Mode
Once Solo Challenger®has been selected the Start Screen displays the
fouravailableskilllevels,highlighting"L1-Novice" to begin.Repeatedlypress
the <SKILL LEVEL> button to advance to the desired skill level. Solo is
initially positioned as the last player and Solo’s position is indicated in the
upper left portion of the screen. Use the top, left button to move Solo’s
player position as desired.
<CANCEL SOLO> may be pressed to void the Solo player feature.
<SETH’CAPS>maybepressedtoaccessthe game’shandicappingscreen.
The Handicapping Modes
’01 Handicapping Screens
The ’01 Handicapping Screen gives users two ways to handicap their play:
Points-Per-Dart Handicapping and Options Handicapping.
Points-Per-DartHandicapping
Each player’s points-per-dart average is entered using the keypad. PPD
averagesrange from10 to 40. Any PPDsentered below10 willbe setto 10;
any PPDs entered above 40 will be set to 40. Entered PPDs are shown at

the bottom of each player column. After the PPD has been entered for a
player, press the <OK?> button to advance to the next player.
OptionsHandicapping
When entering the Handicap Mode, all player positions, including Solo, will
startwith the sameoptions andbullseyemode ashad been setat the Game
Setup Screen.
Options Handicapping allows the users to handicap their play by selecting
different options for each player. Options include Double In and/or Double
Out, Masters Out and Split/Solid Bullseye. Options are displayed, as they
are selected, in the column representing the current player.
When the highlighted player position is set for the desired options and PPD
value, press the <OK?> button to lock in the settings and advance to the
next player position. When all positions have been locked in, the Handicap
Screen returns to the Start Screen.
The Cricket Handicapping Screens
(NOTE: on 8-player games, this feature is only available in League Mode.)
The Cricket Handicapping Screens give users two ways to handicap their
game:Spot handicapping,for casual players,and Marks-Per-Roundhandi-
capping for league players.
Marks-Per-RoundHandicapping
Marks-Per-Round (MPR) handicapping allows league players to handicap
their game based on their Marks-Per-Round averages, as well as allowing
the players to set the Bullseye (split or solid) for each player. When first
entering the Cricket Handicapping mode, the MPR handicapping screen is
displayed. Each player’s MPR average is entered using the keypad. MPR
averages can range from 0.5 to 8.0. Any MPRs entered below 0.5 will be
setto 0.5; anyMPRs enteredabove 8.0will be setto 8.0.After the MPRhas
been entered, press the <OK?> button to advance to the next player. To
access the Spot Cricket handicapping screen press the <SPOT LEVEL
H’CAPPING>button. See the chart on page 19 to seehow manymarks are
awarded for a given MPR average.
SpotHandicapping
SpotCricketallowsplayerstohandicaptheirgameusingseven“Spot”levelsof
difficulty, as well as allowing the players to set the Bullseye (split or solid) for
eachplayer.Eachlevel starts aplayerwithapredeterminednumberof marks:
Spot0,thebaselevelhas no “spots”marked;Spot6, the highestlevel,givesa
playertwomarksoneachnumberandtheBullseye.Seethechartonpage19to
see how many marks are given for each Spot level. Pressing the <MPR
H’CAPPING>buttonwillaccesstheMPRHanidcappingScreen.

The 321 Zap Handicapping Screen
The321ZapHandicappingScreenletsusersselectfromseveraloptions:Double
Inand/orDoubleOut, and Split/SolidBullseye.Optionsare displayed,asthey
areselected,inthecolumnrepresentingthecurrentplayer.
The Novelty Games Handicapping Screens
TheNoveltyGames(BurmaRoad,Hi-ScoreandLo-Score)HandicappingScreen
givesuserstheoptionofselectingSplitorSolidBullseye.
The Player Statistics Screen
ThePlayerStatistics Screen allowsplayersto view theirstatsfor the previous
match.This screen alsogives players theability to PLAYAGAIN or exitto the
GAMEMENUtoselectanothergame.Seepage18foracompleteexplanation
oftheStatisticsScreen.
The Cancel Game/Backup Turn Feature
Pressing the button located on the left side of the game gives the user(s)
theability to cancel a gamein progress (losing any creditsfor thatgame) or
back up to one full round in the current game. After pressing the button, the
CANCELGAMEicon will appearinthe upper, right cornerofthe LCD screen
(or the ABORT LEAGUE icon if in League Play) and the BACKUP TURN
icon will appear in the upper, left corner of the LCD screen.
Press the corresponding button to cancel the game or back up one turn.
In League Play, the game will ask if the user is sure they want to cancel the
game,requiring theuser toselect <YES> or <NO> beforethe matchcan be
canceled. In regular play, pressing the <CANCEL GAME> button will im-
mediately cancel the game.*
To back up a turn, press the <BACKUP TURN> button and the game will
back up one turn. If the current player is in the middle of a turn, backing up
willreturn tothe beginningof thatturn; ifthe currentplayer hasnot throwna
dart, backing up will return the game to the previous player’s turn.
The Back Up Turn option allows the user(s) one back up “event”per game.
A back up event is defined as: backing up to the beginning of Round 1,
backing up once for each player in the game, backing up any number of
times and throwing a dart or backing up any number of times and pressing
the Player Change button. Once the back up turn feature has been used,
the feature is deactivated and the button will no longer appear if the Cancel
Game/Back Up Turn button is pressed.
*Aborting a league match will cause the loss of all statistics for that match!

League Play Section
This section contains information related to playing league games on the Scorpion™DX.
The Scorpion™DX League Mode allows for fully-automated league play.
Used in conjunction with League Tracker software, all league information
can be recorded and tracked electronically.
The League Select Screen
The League Select Screen provides a list of all leagues being played at this
location.Playersselecttheirleaguebyenteringtheappropriateleaguenumber
onthe keypad andpressing <ENTER>. Ifmore than one"page" ofleaguesis
available,pressing<MORELEAGUES> will displayanotherscreenof league
names;ifmorethanone"page"isnotavailable,theMORELEAGUESiconwill
notbedisplayed.Ifthereisonlyoneleagueloadedinto thegame,thisscreenis
bypassedandplayersgodirectlytothenextscreen.
Selecting Home and Away Team
Afterselecting <LEAGUEPLAY> from theGame SelectMenu, the playeris
prompted to select <HOME TEAM> or <AWAY TEAM>. Once that selec-
tion is made, the player is presented with the League Team Select Screen.
Forfeiting a League Game
Leagueplayers canforfeit amatch atthe Home/AwayTeam Selectscreen.
To forfeit a match, press the <FORFEIT MATCH> button on the Home/
Away Team Select screen. At the next screen, use the keypad to enter the
forfeiting team’s number, the team number for the team that is present and
the player number of the player entering the forfeit information. NOTE: En-
teringa forfeit match will sendmatch data to League Trackerjust likewith a
normal match.
The League Team Select Screen
At the League Team Select Screen, the player is asked to select a team by
enteringtheappropriateteam number,eitherbyentering theteamnumberon
thekeypad and pressing<ENTER> or byswiping the teamcard through the
cardreader.Thisscreenalsogivesplayers access toPlayerandTeamStand-
ings, as well as the League Schedule. After a team has been selected, the
LeaguePlayerInputScreenisdisplayed.
The League Player Input Screen
Atthis screen,players for thecoming matchare selectedfrom the complete
team roster. Players are entered into the current team roster by entering

the player number on the keypad and pressing (ENTER) or by swiping the
player’s card through the card reader. A player not on the team, but in the
gamedatabase, canbe moved tothe currentshooting orderby entering the
player’s number twice (once to add the player to the team roster and a
second time to add the player to the current shooting order). A new player
(substitute)can beadded tothe shootingorder bypressing the(sub player)
button and entering the player’s name at the displayed screen. The score
sheetforthecoming match canbecheckedatany time bypressing(SCORE
SHEET).After thelast playeris entered for the current team, an(EXIT) icon
appears in the lower right corner of the screen. Pressing (EXIT) will return
the game to the Team Select Screen for the next team to enter its number.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the next team.
The League Start Screen
After both teams have entered their rosters, the League Start Screen is dis-
played.Atthisscreen,theplayerscanviewtheplayerorderandhandicaps,as
wellasaccessthescoresheettoview thethrowingorderbypressing<SCORE
SHEET>.Press<PLAY>tostartthe game.
The Player Statistics Screen
Aftereachgame,thePlayerStatisticsScreenisdisplayed.Playerscanviewthe
individualstatistics bypressing the <NEXTSTAT> buttonto step throughthe
stats(thelistsbelowshowwhichstatsaredisplayed,basedonthetypeofstatis-
ticsmodeselected attheGame Rules Screen).InLeague Mode,playerscan
alsoselect<NEXTGAME>tostartthenextleaguegame.
