Whenusingthetelephoneequipment,basicsafetyprecautionsshouldalways

accomplished by means of radio waves which are broadcast over the open
airways. Because of the inherent physical properties of radio waves,
communicationcanbereceivedbyradioreceivingdevicesotherthanyourown
telephone unit, consequently, any communications using the cordless
telephone may not be private.
Radiointerferenceinformation:Radiointerferencemayoccasionallycause
buzzingandhumminginyourcordlesshandset,orclickingnoisesinthebase
unit. This interference is caused by external sources such as TV, fluorescent
lighting, or electrical storm. Your unit is NOT DEFECTIVE. If these noises
continue and are too distracting, check around your office to see what
appliances may be causing the problem. In addition, we recommend that the
basenotbepluggedintoacircuitthatalsopowersamajorappliancebecause
ofthepotentialofinterference.Forbestperformance,ensurethattheantenna
on the base unit is fully extended.
In the unlikely event that you consistently hear other voices or distracting
transmissions on your telephone, you may be receiving radio signals for
another cordless telephone or other source of interference. If you cannot
eliminate this type of interference, you need to change to a different channel.
Finally, it should be noted that some cordless telephones operate at
frequenciesthatmaycauseinterferencetonearbyTVsandVCRs.Tominimize

Description
The Mitel®5610 Cordless Handset and IP DECT Stand provide SIP call
processingfeaturesonacordlesshandset.TheIPDECTstandsupportsupto
eight cordless handsets.
The IP DECT stand connects to the network through the PC port on a Mitel
5312,5320,5324,5330,5340,or5360IPPhone.TheIPDECTstandextends
theSIPphonefunctionalityfromthecommunicationsplatformtothehandsets.
You can purchase additional handsets and chargers from the Mitel Customer
Service order desk.
Thecordlesshandsethasanindoorsignalrangeofupto50meters(150feet)
fromtheIP DECTstand andanoutdoor rangeof upto300 meters(900 feet).
Notethatthisrangecanbelimitedbyconcreteormetalbarriers.Toextendthe
signal range, you can purchase an optional IP DECT Stand Repeater.

iRESET button: Press to activate configuration changes or to enable handset
registration. The first handset automatically registers with the IP DECT Stand
after approximately 30 seconds. To register each additional handset on the
same IP DECT Stand, you must first reboot the stand by pressing the RESET
button on the rear panel of the stand.
You can also reset the stand configuration (including the admin user name and
password) to the default values using the this button. Press and hold the Reset
button for greater than 10 seconds to reset the stand.
Note that you cannot reset the stand while a call is being supported on a hand-
set that is registered to the stand.

Installation
Remove Existing Mounting Base
If the IP phone is installed on a mounting base, remove the base.
• Turn the IP Phone over.
• Disconnect the handset cord.
• Press the two plastic clips on both sides of the mounting base and remove
the base from the IP Phone.
Connect the Cables to the IP Phone
nConnecttheLANcableintotheLANportonthebackofthephone.Connect
the other end of the LAN cable to a LAN jack.See Figure
oConnecttheshortCAT5LANcabletothePCportonthebackofthephone.
AfteryouattachtheIPPhonetothestand,youwillconnecttheotherendof
this cable to the LAN porton the rear panel of the stand.
pConnect the handset to the back of the phone.
qConnect the headset (optional) to the back of the phone.
NOTE:
SomeIP phones requirean ACpower adapter. Other IP Phone models
obtain power from the LAN. If Power Over LAN is available, it shall be
compliant with IEEE 802.3.af.
Attach the IP Phone to the Stand (See Figure )
nTurn the phone so that the front faces away from you.
oHoldthestandsothatthelowerhooksonthefrontofthestandaretowards
the bottom edge of the phone.
pHinge the hooks on the stand into the lower notches on the back of the
phone and snap into place.
Connect Cables to Stand
• Connect the short CAT 5 LAN cable to the LAN port. See cin Figure .
• Connect the power supply adapter cable to the power input jack. See hin Figure
.
• Plug the C7 connector on the power extension cord into the power supply adapter.
Plug the other end of the extension cordinto a wall outlet. Ensure the power LED on
the IP DECT stand turns green.
Install Handset Batteries
• Release the battery cover at the bottom of the back panel and remove.
• Insert the Li Polymer cell battery in the handset as shown below:
• Replace the back panel and slide shut.
Set Up Handset Charger
• Connect the appropriate power adapter to the handset charging cradle.
• Plug C7 cord into power adapter.
• Plug the other end of the C7 cord into a wall outlet.
• Place the handset in the charger. When you place the first handset in the charger, the
handset automatically registers with the IP DECT Stand. After the first handset is
registered, there is a 5 minute period during which you can register addtional
handsets. To register additional handsets after the 5 minute period has expired, you
must press the Reset button on the stand to start a new 5 minute registration period.
• Ensure the power LED turns green.
• Chargethebattery. Werecommendthatyouchargethebatteryfully before first use.It
takes approximately 10 hours to fully charge the battery. Normally, it takes
approximately 6 hours to charge the battery.

Configuration Requirements
You must complete the following configuration before the cordless handset is
fully functional:
1. License, program, and register the Mitel IP Phone with the communica-
tions platform. Refer to your communications platform documentation for
instructions.
2. License and program the 5610 Cordless Handset as a SIP Phone:
• For 3300 ICP systems with MCD Release 4.0 SPx,program it with a
“Generic SIP Phone” device type; for 3300 ICP systems with MCD
Release 4.1 or later, program it with a “5610 SIP” device type. Refer
to the 3300 ICP System Administration Tool online help for
instructions.
• For 5000 CP systems, see the 5000 CP Features and Programming
Guide and/or the Database Programming online help for instructions
on how to program SIP phones.
3. Configurethe handsetsand IPDECT Standtosupport SIPtelephony. Re-
fer to the IP DECT Stand Configuration and Administration Guide for in-
structions.

tion and Administration Guide, phoneuser guides, and phone installa-

Beim Einsatz des Telefonapparats sollten stets grundlegende
