1.0 Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a Mobile Stairlift Helix! We aim to provide the safest and most
adaptable mobility equipment on the market. Please read this manual in its entirety
before operating or maintaining this product. To ensure safe use, all operators of this
device should be properly trained.
Improper usage of this device can cause injury to the rider or operator. The Helix must
only be operated as described in this manual. Do not modify the Helix or any of its
components unless you are a Certified Mobile Stairlift Technician, as modifications can
result in unpredictable performance and result in injury to the rider or operator.
NOTE: This manual should remain with the Helix at all times.

1.1 Indications for Use
The Mobile Stairlift Helix is a manual transport device that transports the rider in a
seated, upright position on the ground and up or down straight stairs, and certain curved
stairs in a safe and efficient manner. The Helix is capable of moving adult, adolescent,
or child occupants who are able to remain seated while secured by the safety belt. The
Helix is for residential use with proper training. This device can also be used routinely in
a hospital environment or as a tool for all types of medical personnel.
WARNING
DO NOT use this stair chair lift to transport occupants
who may have cervical, spinal, or fracture injuries.

1.2 General Description / Intended Use
The Mobile Stairlift Helix is intended as a transport device for a human occupant in a seated
position to be taken up or down flights of stairs. The occupant should be secured in the chair by
restraints for their safety and the safety of the operator. The operator must read this manual and
be properly trained on this product before use. The operator must practice with the Stairlift alone
before using it to transport a rider.
1.3 Disclaimer
This user manual contains general instructions and guidelines for the use, operation, and care
of this product. These instructions are not all-inclusive. The safe and proper use of this product
is solely at the discretion of the user. Safety information is included as a service to the user. All
other safety measures taken by the user should be within and under consideration of applicable
regulations. It is recommended that complete training on the proper use of this product be
provided before using this product in an actual situation.
1.4 Unpacking the Device
You will receive your device in a Large Box with Foam Protection, as photographed below. Unpack
your brand new Mobile Stairlift Helix, removing all shipping and packing materials, and check
all items for proper operation. If anything is missing or noted to not be correct or any type of
damage is present due to shipping, please contact Mobile Stair Lift.

2.2 Safety Precautions
1. Read this entire user manual before using the Mobile Stairlift Helix, and use the Stairlift only
as described in this manual.
2. Always make sure that the chair is locked in the unfolded position before use. An unlocked
chair may fold during use causing injury.
3. Do not use the chair with suspected cervical, spinal, or fracture injuries.
4. Do not leave an occupant unattended. Hold the product while an occupant is on the product.
5. Always use the restraint straps to secure the occupant in the chair. An unrestrained
occupant may fall from the chair.
6. Do not push the chair with the upper control handle in the fully extended position. Pushing the
chair with the handle extended may cause the chair to tip when you encounter obstacles.
7. Always lock the chair in position before you transport an occupant.
8. Make sure the occupant keeps hands inside the chair when moving up or down a staircase.
9. DO NOT OPEN THE MOTOR. Contact Mobile Stairlift for service.
10. Avoid getting dirt inside the tracks.
11. Do not attach any additional items to this chair.
12. The Stairlift may not work the same on all stair surfaces and in all environments
and conditions.
13. Never lubricate the belts or tracks of this product. Lubricating the track system can result in
injury to the patient and /or operators.
14. Do not attempt to transport occupant loads greater than what you can safely lift.
15. Always lock the lift handlebar in position before you use the extended handlebar to tip the
chair back.
16. To clean the Stairlift, wipe with a towel and clean water. Dry after cleaning. Please note that
cleaning products may cause corrosion and damage to the Stairlift.
17. Use only parts that are specifically made for this Stairlift. If replacement parts are needed,
please contact Mobile Stairlift for assistance.
18. Maintain and operate the Stairlift only as described in this manual. Mobile Stairlift can be
reached for all service, maintenance and questions regarding this chair and its operation.

IMPORTANT
Mobile Stairlift users should practice using the Stairlift without anyone or anything in it, and then
practice using the chair with a load, and then practice with a person. Never operate the chair
without proper training and practice.

transportation.

and easy to clean and sterilize.
• The Helix features safety restraints and a footrest for the safety and comfort of the
rider

• The stairlift has four bottom wheels for use on flat ground and two motorized tracks,
which can operate on straight stairs and certain curved staircases.

ANTI SLIP RUBBER TRACKS
Thick rubber and an inner reinforcing rib
make the treads last longer, and the anti-

6.2 Side View of Stairlift
Foot brakes are located behind the two back
wheels. When at rest, please engage the
brakes to prevent unwanted movement.
TRACK RELEASE LEVER
Press this lever to release the tracks. The
pneumatic pistons will extend the tracks
automatically, but you may need to pull out
gently to get them started.

To use the power indicator located on
the battery, press the button in between
the four round lights. Each green light
represents 25% power, so 4 green lights
denote 100% power.

7.0 Stairlift Battery
The Mobile Stairlift Helix sometimes ships with a partial charge, so check the battery level before
using the unit to transport a passenger up or down stairs. There are two indicators. One on the
battery (Fig. 1) and one on the handlebar control panel (Fig. 2).
This indicator is digital, and displays the
exact battery level. Whenever the stairlift
is powered on, this indicator will be
illuminated.

show the battery level (See Section 7.1).

BATTERY STATSREMOVING THE BATTERY
Although it is not necessary, it may be
more convenient to remove the battery
for charging. Using one of the two keys
which came with the unit, unlock the
battery by inserting the key and turning
it, and then slide the battery towards the
key to remove it from its housing.

Unbuckle the safety belt, which
will be fastened around the
unit from shipping.
Fold the seat down until the
main chair locking bar (See
Section 6.0) locks into place.

you are going to be pushing a

8.1 Folding The Stairlift for Storage or Transport

Lock the wheels, unbuckle the seatbelt, and clear
the seat.
Push the main chair lock bar down

NOTE: The chair, when folded, does
not lock into position like it does
when expanded.

tighten until secure.

8.2 Installing the Seat Cushion
STEP 1 Remove the standard cushion
but pulling on an edge to
dislodge the velcro.
STEP 2 Align the velcro strips on the new
velcro pad with the velcro strips
on the seat, and press until the
velcro is secure.
8.3 Ascending a Staircase With The Stairlift
STEP 1
Move the rider onto the seat,
and secure them with the
safety belt.

Stand behind the stairlift and
back it up until the treads are
approximately 10 inches from
the bottom stair.
STEP 3 Lock the back wheels by
pressing down on each wheel
lock with your foot.
STEP 4 Extend the tracks by pressing
on the track release button,
and pulling the tracks out.

Rotate the knob, and pull the
handlebar up until it locks into
place.
Please note: it is recommended
that you raise the handlebar as
high as comfortably possible for
maximum leverage.
STEP 6 Press the power button on the
handlebar control panel to turn
the unit on.
STEP 7 Check the battery level on the
front of the control panel. If it is
below 50%, charge the battery
for at least 2 hours. If the battery
is sufficiently charged, proceed
to step 8.

STEP 8
Lean the chair back until the
treads are resting on the
bottom stairs.
STEP 9
Press the up button on the
control panel and begin walking
backwards up the stairs with
the chair.
STEP 10
As you move up the curved
staircase, press the handlebars
down towards the stairs for the
duration of your climb. 3 points
of contact between the tracks
and stairs is ideal when going
around a curve. Please note:
the operator should never be
pulling the whole weight of the
rider and the chair, and should
instead rely on the tracks.

STEP 11 When you reach the top of the
stairs, continue to hold the up
button while moving back on
the landing with the stairlift
balanced at an angle on the
bottom of the tracks until the
front wheels have cleared the
edge of the landing.
STEP 12
When the front wheels have
cleared the edge of the
landing, tilt the stairlift forward
until the front wheels are
resting on the ground.
STEP 13
Press the handlebar locking bar
in, and lower the handlebar to
its original position.
Do NOT tip the Stairlift forward until all four
wheels are on level ground.

STEP 14 Unlock the wheels to roll to the
desired location.

Move towards the staircase
and stop when the front wheels
are a few inches from the top
stair, and lock the wheels by
stepping on each wheel lock.
