Insert the (U)SIM card and battery
The USIM card is an enhanced version of the SIM card and is supported by UMTS mobile phones.
Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children.
For availability and information on using SIM card services, contact your SIM card vendor. This
may be the service provider or other vendor.
Always switch the device off, and disconnect the charger before removing the battery.
1With the back of the device facing you, press the release button
(1), slide the cover (2), and lift it up (3).
2Pull the SIM card holder out of the SIM card holder slot (4).
3Insert the (U)SIM card into the card holder (5). Make sure that the
bevelled corner on the card is facing the bevelled corner on the
holder, and that the contact area on the card is facing down. Slide
the holder back to the slot (6).
4Insert the battery (7), and replace the back cover.

Switch the device on
1Press and hold the power key ( ).
2If the device asks for a (U)PIN code or lock code, enter it, and press
. The factory setting for the lock code is 12345.
Your device has internal antennas.
Note: As with any radio transmitting device, avoid touching an antenna
unnecessarily when the antenna is in use. For example, avoid
touching the cellular antenna during a phone call. Contact with a
transmitting or receiving antenna affects the quality of the radio
communication, may cause the device to operate at a higher power
level than otherwise needed, and may reduce the battery life.

3Bluetooth technology
• When you switch on the device for the first time, it may prompt you to
set the following information: Select current city:, Time:, and Date:.
Use the scroll key and the number keys. To find the city, enter the first letters of the city
name. The city you select also defines the time zone for the clock in your device.
• Press to open the main menu.
Your service provider may have requested that certain features be disabled or not activated in
your device. If so, these features will not appear on your device menu. Your device may also have
a special configuration such as changes in menu names, menu order, and icons. Contact your
service provider for more information.

Charge the battery
1Connect a compatible charger to a wall outlet.
2Connect the power cord to the device. If the battery is completely discharged, it may take a
while before the charging indicator starts scrolling.
3When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger from the device, then from the wall
outlet.
Keypad lock (keyguard)
Use the keypad lock to prevent the keys from being accidentally pressed.
To lock, in the standby mode, press , then . When the keys are locked, is shown
on the display.
To unlock, press , then .
When the keypad lock is on, calls may be possible to the official emergency number programmed
into your device.
To turn on the display light when the keypad lock is on, press .
Settings
Your device normally has MMS, GPRS, streaming, and mobile internet settings automatically
configured in the device, based upon your service provider or network operator information.

Insert a memory card
You can use a compatible microSD card as extra storage space to save the
memory on your device. You can also back up information from your device
to the memory card.
Use only compatible microSD cards approved by Nokia for use with this
device. Nokia uses approved industry standards for memory cards, but
some brands may not be fully compatible with this device. Incompatible
cards may damage the card and the device and corrupt data stored on the
card.
Keep all memory cards out of the reach of small children.
1To insert the memory card (1), place your nail in the recess below
the door of the memory card slot, and swing the door open. Do not
pull the door outwards.
2Insert the memory card in the slot (2). Make sure that the
contact area on the card is facing down and towards the slot.
3Push the card in. You can hear a click when the card locks into
place.
4Close the door. You cannot use the memory card if the door is
open.

Eject the memory card
1Before you eject the card, press , and select Remove mem. card. All applications are
closed.
2When Remove memory card and press 'OK' is displayed, swing the door of the memory card
slot open.
3Press the memory card to release it from the slot.
4Remove the memory card. If the device is switched on, select OK.
Important: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card
is being accessed. Removing the card in the middle of an operation may damage the memory
card as well as the device, and data stored on the card may be corrupted.
Transfer content from another device
To use the transfer application, see the user guide.
Use Nokia Content Copier in Nokia Nseries PC Suite to copy content from a compatible Nokia
phone. See the CD-ROM supplied with your device. Nokia Content Copier supports several Nokia
phone models. For more information on the devices supported by Nokia Nseries PC Suite, refer
to the www.nokia.com/pcsuite pages.
Display
Remove any protective plastic film covering the display and the camera lens.
A small number of missing, discolored, or bright dots may appear on the screen. This is a
characteristic of this type of display. Some displays may contain pixels or dots that remain on
or off. This is normal, not a fault.

Headset
You can connect a compatible headset to the Pop-PortTM
connector of your device. You can use a compatible remote
controller unit, such as the Audio Controller AD-41 to connect
a compatible headset or compatible headphones with a 3.5
mm connector. First connect the unit to the connector in the
device, then connect the headset or headphones to the unit.
Warning: When you use the headset, your ability to
hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use the headset
where it can endanger your safety.
When using a compatible remote controller unit, such as the
Audio Controller AD-41, to adjust the volume during a call,
use the volume key in the device. The Audio Controller AD-41
has multimedia volume controls that are used to adjust the
volume only for TV sound, music or video playback.

Mobile TV
Your device has an integrated Digital
Video Broadcast - Handheld (DVB-H)
receiver, which enables it to receive live
digital TV broadcasts. With Mobile TV ,
you can watch, and listen to digital TV
programs and access interactive mobile
television and radio services (network
service).
Check the Mobile TV network coverage and the availability of and instructions on accessing
Mobile TV services and pricing with your service provider.
In some countries, owners of a television receiver are required to pay a television licence fee.
Contact you local authorities for more information.
Start TV
• Press and hold to open Mobile TV.
• At initial start-up, the program guides available in your location are displayed. This may take
a while. To select a program guide, scroll to it, and press . The system arranges the
available channels according to the program guide. The next time you access Mobile TV,
your last watched TV channel will be shown.
• Press to toggle between full screen and normal view.
• Adjust volume using the volume key.

•SelectOptions > Programme guide.
• To change the channel, scroll left or right.
• To check earlier or later programs, scroll up or down.

Options

Change channel
• Scroll left or right to change the channel. You can also use the Audio Controller AD-41 to
change the channel.
• Scroll up or down to view a list of available channels. To select a channel, press .
• For specific channels, press the number keys. To enter two-digit channel numbers, press
first.
Set a reminder alarm for an upcoming program
•select Options > Programme guide.
• Select the desired program and Options > Remind. The remider will sound even if the
Mobile TV application is closed, but not if the device is turned off.
• To define how early you want to be reminded, in the main view, select Options > Settings >
Reminder alarm.
Some TV channels and programs may require a subscription.
To subscribe, do the following:
1Select Options >Subscriptions > New subscription.
2Select the channel, program, or channel package to subscribe.
3Select Options > Subscribe.
4Select the length of the subscription.
5To accept the subscription, select Verify.
To end a subscription, do the following:
1Select Options >Subscriptions > My subscriptions.
2Select the channel, program, or channel package to unsubscribe.
3Select Options >Unsubscribe.

Shortcuts
Standby mode
• To switch between open applications, press and hold .
Leaving applications running in the background increases the demand on
battery power and reduces the battery life.
• To open the Mobile TV application, press and hold .
• To activate camera, press and hold .
• To open multimedia applications, press .
• To open the music player, press and hold .
• To call your voice mailbox (network service), press and hold .
• To change the profile, press , and select a profile.
•ToswitchbetweenGeneral and Silent profiles, press and hold . If you have two phone
lines (network service), this action switches between the two lines.
• To open the last dialed numbers list, press .
• To use voice commands, press and hold .
• To start a connection to Services (network service), press and hold .
Edit text and lists
• To mark an item in a list, scroll to it, and press and at the same time.
• To mark multiple items in a list, press and hold while you press or . To end the
selection, release , and release .
• To copy and paste text, press and hold to select letters and words. Press or to
highlight text. To copy the text to clipboard, while still holding , select Copy. To insert the
text into a document, press and hold , and select Paste.
