Computer-Aided Detection (CADe) Application
Getting to Know ENDO-AID
ENDO-AID CADe is a high-performing computer-aided detection application for colonoscopy that uses artificial
intelligence (AI) to suggest the potential presence of lesions such as colonic polyps, malignant neoplasms and
adenomas.

Activating the CADe Application
Press the CAD button or the Mode 1 button
to turn on the CADe application. To turn it off,
either push the CAD button once or press the
Mode 1 button for few seconds.

How to Enable ENDO-AID CADe to Activate Automatically
To set an automatic activation of the CADe application when
the scope is connected, navigate to the section “Auto ON/OFF”
in the menu setting 1. Select “When scope is connected” 2
and save the changes 3. Do the same for the option “CAD
auto OFF” so that the system turns off when the scope is
disconnected.
The CAD icon is visible when the CADe
application is active.
A CAD icon with a cross indicates that the
application is in standby — for example, when NBI
or RDI is active. As soon as the user goes back
to WLI or TXI, the CADe application will switch on
automatically.

Users Can Select Their Preference
Two Visualization Modes
Advantage:
Less distraction during the procedure — thanks to a clear
endoscopic image.
Normal Mode
Advantage:
Feedback directly on the main image.
Target Mode
Findings are surrounded by a marker
directly on the endoscopic image
Flags announce detection by highlighting

The application is thought to be operated preferentially in Normal Mode. If the users want a better visualization of a certain marker, they will shortly
toggle to Target Mode per default; the system will then return back to Normal Mode a few seconds afterwards.
Users willing to use Target Mode preferentially should select “unlimited” as the “Target Mode duration” option of the “Marker/flag” settings menu.
NOTE: The system will start in Normal Mode every time even if it was switched off in Target Mode.

In the “remote switch” section of your CV-1500 user presets you can set the scope switch of your
preference to control your ENDO-AID CADe. Look for the following options:

Option dev. control 1: Emulates the CAD button, i.e., to turn CADe on and off.
Option dev. control 2: Emulates the MODE 1 button, i.e., to toggle between visualization modes.
It is suggested to use “Option dev. control 2” on switch 2. This way, the user can easily start
ENDO-AID CADe and toggle through the visualization modes.

Using the Target Mode Preferentially
Work-around
When preferentially using the Target Mode (unlimitedly active),
the user might occasionally want to turn off the CADe support
during an operation — for example, to avoid any possible
intrusion during the procedure.
However, when switching it on again, the application will restart
in Normal Mode, so that the user must additionally push the
Mode 1 button in order to activate Target Mode again.
To avoid this additional last step, a work-around would be
to toggle between Normal Mode and Target Mode instead
of switching the application off completely. In this case, it is
recommended to configure the visual settings of Normal Mode
in a way that the subimage is switched off completely and
the indicating flags are short 1and thin 2, thus reducing any
disturbances.

Sensitivity and Specificity Settings
Detection Types A and B
Users can choose between two different detection types,
which differ in their sensitivity and specificity.
Users who wish to see more polyps, even very small ones, use
Type A. Users who want a lower sensitivity, select Type B. The
preferred detection type can be configured in the “Detection
type” section of the “Marker/flag” menu of the settings.
Detection Type Description
Type A Detects more potential colorectal polyps than
Type B.
Type B Tends to suppress more false detection than
Type A.
