Theunitdisplays32charactersfromthePLCmemory. Thesecharacters
aretakenfromthePLCdataregisters.
TheunittracksregisterDM0020(theOffsetregister)inthePLC. Thenumber
inDM0020givesthestartaddressofthedataregisterblock whichcontainsthe
characterstobedisplayed. Forexample,ifDM0020hasnumber124init,the
unitwillread16registersfromDM0124,i.e.fromDM0124toDM0139anddisplay
thecorrespondingcharacters.
Eachregistercontainstwobytes. EachASCIIcharactertobedisplayedis
onebyte. So,eachwordcontainstwocharactersthatcanbedisplayed. Allthe
PLCladderlogichastodoistoputthecorrectwordsintheregistersbeingread
bytheunitsothataproperscreencanbedisplayed.
As mentioned above, the starting address of the screen data block is
controlledbytheOffsetregister,i.eDM0020. Hence,therecanbetwomethods
ofchangingthescreentobedisplayed. OneistokeepthevalueinDM0020
constantandchangethedatainthescreenregistersbytheladderlogic. Second
istokeepthescreentextinthedatamemory(byeditingDMregisters)andchange
thevalueinDM0020soastopointtothecorrectmemoryaddresstodisplaythe
desiredscreen.
Itispossibletoembedregistersinthescreens. Theunitreads16registers
fromDM0000toDM0015(inwhichDM0012toDM0015areusedforBarGraph)
ineveryscan. Thedataintheseregisterscanbeembeddedinthescreens. To
doso,usehexbytes0toB(CtoFusedforBarGraph)correspondingtoregister
DM0000toDM0011respectivelyinthescreen. Refertotheexamplegivenwhich
explainstheembeddingofregisters. Itispossibletoembedonedataentryfield
inscreens. Itissimilartoembeddingregister,onlyinsteadof0toFuse10to1F
hexbytestoaddressDM0000toDM0015. TheregistersDM0000toDM0015can
beeditedwiththisfeatureoneatatimeinascreen.
