for those times when you are not in the same room as
your baby provided you always stay within hearing range

cablesarekeptoutofreachofyourbabyandotheryoung
children at all times, at least one metre away.
• Neverplacethebabyunitorparentunitinsideyourbaby’s
cot, bed or playpen.
• Nevercovertheparentorbabyunitswithclothes,towels
orblanketsoranyotheritem.Neveruseorplaceyour
parent or baby unit in or near moisture or water (e.g. near
bath or pool). Immersing in water could cause electric
shockandevendeath.
• Theinstallationlocationplaysanimportantroleinensuring
proper operation. Therefore, maintain a distance of at
least one metre from other electronic equipment, such as
microwaveovensorhi−devices,otherwisetheycould
cause interference. During continual use the baby unit
power adaptors may become warm to the touch. This is
normal and should not be a concern.

Setting up
Parent unit
1.Plugoneofthepoweradaptorcablesintothe
socketmarked onthebackoftheParentunit
charger and plug the other end into the mains
powerwallsocketandswitchthepoweron.
2.Activatethebatteriesbypullingtheplastictab
awayfromthebackoftheunit.
Remove this tab and
charge batteries for
24hoursbeforeuse.

Removing the batteries
If you ever need to remove the batteries,
simply slide open the battery compartment
coverandusetheribbontoejectthebatteries.
WARNING!
Only use the power adaptors
supplied. Using incorrect
power adaptors may
permanently damage your
product.
Battery performance
Rechargeable batteries
in the Parent unit will last
upto16hoursinnormal
use. Please note that new
batteries do not reach full
capacity until they have
been in normal use for
several days.
The charge capacity of
rechargeable batteries will
reduce with time as they
wear out, so reducing the
performance time of the
Parent unit. Eventually they
will need to be replaced.
New batteries can be
purchased from
www.oricom.com.au.

The Parent unit rechargeable
batteries will lose charge
over a period of time, even if
switched off.
Battery low warning –
Parent unit
When the batteries are low –
within1hourofrunningout
– the Parent unit will emit
a low battery alert, the low
battery indicator will turn red,
the display will show Low
Battery and the icon
ontopoftheunitwillash.
PlacetheParentunitback
on the charger to charge the
batteries.
To speed up the charging
process turn the Parent unit
offwhenchargingifit’snot
being used.
WARNING!
Always use rechargeable
batteries in the Parent unit.
Only use the recommended
type–2xAANiMH1300mAh
batteries. Using other types
could permanently damage
the unit. Charge the batteries
as instructed in this user
guide. The Parent unit can
still be used when it is in the
charger.
3.PlacetheParentunitintothecharger.Thered
charging light will illuminate on the charger, the
battery icon will start scrolling on the Parent
unit display and the battery LED will be solid
red to indicate that the batteries are being
charged.

Switch on and link the Parent and
Baby units
1.Pressandholdthe button on the Baby unit
untilthenightlightbrieyilluminatesandthe
greenLinkindicatorashes.
2.Pressandholdthe button on the Parent
unituntilalltheLEDsontheunitbriey
illuminate.
ThegreenLinkindicatorwillashandthe
display will show I’m Linking.
Positioning your units
The Baby unit should ideally
bewithin1m-2mofyour
baby for best performance.
MakesureboththeBaby
unit and mains power cable
are connected securely and
positionedoutofbaby’s
reach.
If you place the Parent
and Baby units too close
together you will hear a high
pitched noise, this is normal.
The units are designed to be
located at a distance from
one another, e.g. in separate
rooms.

OncetheunitsarelinkedthegreenLink
indicator on the Parent unit and the Baby unit
willstopashingandremainasteadygreen.
The units are now ready to use.
Important:
Thelinkconrmationbetweenthetwounitsis
vital for use so they can communicate. If the
linkbetweentheunitsisbrokenatanytime,
theLinkindicatorsonbothunitswillash
green as they try to search for each other. The
Parent unit displays I’m Linking...
After30seconds,ifthelinkisstillbroken,the
BabyandParentunitsLinkindicatorswillash
red. The Parent unit display will show Not
Linkedandyouwillhearanalertsignal.
Ifthelinkisbroken:
• checkthatthemainspowerispluggedinand
switched on at the Baby unit
• checkthatbothunitsareswitchedon
• checkthatthebatteriesarechargedinthe
Parent unit
• checkthattheParentandBabyunitsare
within range of each other (in ideal conditions
therangeisupto300metresoutdoorsand
50mindoors)

Switch the Baby unit on
1.Pressandholdthe button until the nightlight
brieyilluminatesandthegreenLinkindicator
ashes.OncelinkedthegreenLinkindicator
will remain on.
Switch the Parent unit on
1.Pressandholdthe button on the Parent
unituntilalltheLEDsbrieyilluminate.The
greenLinkindicatorwillashandthedisplay
will show I’m Linking.
OncetheunitsarelinkedthegreenLink
indicators on the Parent and Baby units will
stopashingandremainasteadygreen.The
units are now ready to use.
Switch the Baby unit off
1.Pressandholdthe button on the Baby unit.
ThegreenLinkindicatorwillswitchoff.
Switch the Parent unit off
1.Pressandholdthe button on the Parent
unit until an audible alert sounds. The green
Linkindicatorwillswitchoffandthedisplaywill
goblank.

The seven LEDs across the top of the Parent
unit light up to indicate the level of sound being
received from the Baby unit. The LEDs light up
progressively as the sound increases.

If you try and set the volume

At the Parent unit:

Therstpresswillshowthecurrentsetting.
Thereare5volumelevelsandoff(Mute).The
volume level will be shown on the display at
eachpress,e.g.Level3isshownasVolume
.
Ifyouwishtoswitchthevolumeoff,keep
pressing until the display shows Volume
Off.
TheMuteLEDwillilluminateandyouwillhear
aconrmationtone.
At the Baby unit:
Thereare5volumesettings.
1.WhenMusicisbeingplayedorTalkbackisin
progress from the Parent unit, press the or
buttontoadjustthevolume.
2.IfnomusicorTalkbackisinuse,pressingthe
or buttonswilladjustthevolume.Youwill
hear a beep at each press.

Lightshow
The Baby unit has a lightshow feature that
projectsastarryimageontotheceilingofyour
baby’sroom.
A tilt cup is supplied and can be placed
underneath the Baby unit to enable you to
directthelightshowprojection.Youcanseta
period of time for the lightshow to illuminate
using the Parent unit menu.

Place the Baby unit in the tilt cup and switch
thelightshowon(seepage21).Adjustthe
position of the Baby unit until the lightshow is
projectedatthebestangle.
