I. Summary
1.1 Product Check
After receiving the AC servo drive, please check for the following:

Accessories completeness
Ensure that the model and quantity of accessories are enough.

motor shaft rotates freely.
Rotate the motor shaft by hand; a smooth rotation will indicate a good motor.
(However, a servo motor with an electromagnetic brake can not be rotated manually.)

1.6 Appearance
IM20 series servo drive adopts metal hanging housing. Its
appearance and structure are shown as in figure in the right,
with detachable one-side door hinge structure adopted for front
cover, convenient for wiring and maintenance.
1.7 Precautions
1.7.1 Installation instructions
● Do not drop anything into servo drive.
● Do not hold the product by the cables, D connector or
motor shaft while transporting it.
● Never install or use the products in an environment
subject to water, corrosive gases, inflammable gases, or
combustibles.
● Be sure to install the product vertically in the correct direction.
● Provide the specified clearances between the top and bottom of servo drive (longer than 200mm).
● Do not strike the motor shaft ends.
1.7.2 Wiring instructions
● Please cut off all power supply while installing and wiring.
●Please match the cables and current capacity. Be sure to wire correctly and securely.
● Securely connect the motor terminals and servo drive output terminals.
● Please connect servo drive to motor directly, without any chokes, filters, etc.
● Securely connect grounding terminal of servo drive and external shell of motor.
● Do not bundle or run power and signal lines together in the same duct.
● Use twisted-pair shielded wires or multi-core twisted pair shielded wires for signal and feedback lines.
1.7.3 Operation instructions
● Please check the wiring before power on servo drive.
● Please check injection molding machine safe valve and output signal.
1.7.4 Maintenance
● Installation, disassembly, or repair must be performed only by authorized personnel.
● Never touch the internal elements within 15 minutes after power off. Wait till it is completely
discharged.
● If servo drive is stored for long time, please charge the servo drive within half a year to prevent the
electrolytic capacitors damaged.
1.7.5 Disposal
●When disposing of the products, treat them as ordinary industrial waste.

Note:
Built-in braking unit is standard configuration for IM20 series, braking resistor is connected externally.
Resolver cable 8A/8C is optional for user who purchases both servo drive and servo motor, 8B is for who
only purchase servo motor. * represents cable length (unit is m), 3m, 4m, 6m length is optional. Resolver
cable must be made from shielded twisted pair to ensure electromagnetic compatibility and reliability. Please
select Resolver cable as short as possible. Parker standard length is 3m. Resolver cable is not standard
configuration.
Please connect signal cable of given pressure, given flow, pressure sensor and resolver to ferrite core
separately. At least 2 ferrite core is required for one servo drive, user can install ferrite core based on actual
condition. Optional Parker ferrite core is UF-90B.

2.3 Recommended configuration
Parker pump is highly recommended for stable and reliable, high efficiency, energy saving, and low noise.
User can refer to pump manual for instruction.
Please pay attention to max rotating speed of oil pump to avoid damage.
2.3.1 Servo drive, motor and oil pump selection
1. Oil pump
Pump Max pressure should be higher than or equal to hydraulic system pressure P (kgf/cm2).
Pump Flow I (cc/rev)= moulding machine flow (L/m) × 1000/motor max speed (r/m)
2. Servo motor
Pump Max torque for pressure-holding: T=System pressure (kgf/cm2)×Pump Flow (cc/rev)/62.8
Pump Max power: P(Kw)=T×pump speed /9550
Considering transmission loss among oil pump, motor and coupling, servo motor rated power Ps≈P/1.6
(or1.5), servo motor rated torque≈T/1.6 (or1.5).
3. Servo drive
Servo drive Max current for pressure-holding: Imax= Motor Rated current×T/(Motor rated torque×0.93 )
Imax must be less than 150% of drive rated current.
User can calculate servodrive rated current and select servo drive.
If user wants larger overload capacity, please make sure Imax is less than 140%,130%...... of rated current.

4. Braking resistor
Please select braking resistor referring to motor interia, system inertia, deceleration time, etc. For
multi-pump confluent system with high performance, please select resistor of high rated power for master
drive.
Note: if motor band is different, cooling mode is different, denominator coefficients of rated torque and
power is different.
2.3.2 Combined-configuration
1. Please select speed range according to system max speed.
2. Please select oil pump according to system flow and pressure.
3. Please select motor according to oil pump torque.
4. Please select servo drive according to motor current.
5. Following table is recommended combined-configuration. Recommended standard is holding Max
pressure for 60s. If servo motor is out of stock, user can select a same rated speed motor with a higher
rating.

3.1.2 Servo drive installation
Servo drive must be installed vertically, as shown in Fig 3-2. Sufficient ventilation space should be
ensured in its surrounding.

3.2 Servo motor installation
Please do not strike motor shaft ends, to avoid ruining bearing or speed sensor.
Note: please install motor in a ventilated place, to avoid motor demagnetization because motor
temperature is too high.

3.3 Braking unit and braking resistor
Optional braking unit: HFBU-DR series.
Braking resistor must be non-inductive resistor. Same power resistors have same
dimension.
Braking voltage of braking unit can be adjusted by switching code SW1.

Installation: the distance between braking unit and servo drive should be lower than 1m. Braking unit has
four terminals DC(+)/P, DC(-)/-, BR1/P and BR2/B. The two ends of braking resistor are connected to
terminals of BR1/P and BR2/B. Terminal DC(+)/P is connected to the positive terminal of servo DC bus line,
and terminal DC(-)/- is connected to the negative terminal of servo DC bus line.
