How the SystemWorks
The Collarless Remote Trainer is designed to assist you with obedience
training and the behavior modification of your dog or cat by taking
advantage of the sensitive hearing of your pet in the ultrasonic frequency
range which is inaudible to most humans.The NegativeTone Button
activates the ultrasound, which startles your pet more than yelling or a firm
voice command.The Positive Tone Button activates an audible tone that
will help indicate to your pet that his behavior is acceptable to you.The
Remote Trainer will not disturb your neighbors or other nearby humans.

Key Definitions
Indicator Light: The light that indicates when any button on the Remote
Trainer is pressed.
NegativeTone Button (N): The button that emits an ultrasonic tone
used to correct your pet.
Positive Tone Button (P): The button that emits a positive tone to your
pet.

Prepare the Remote Trainer
To Insert and Remove the Battery
1. Remove the screws on the back of the Remote Trainer.
2. Insert the 9-volt alkaline battery.
3. Reinstall the screws. Do not over-tighten the screws.

To verify the battery has been inserted correctly, activate the Remote
Trainer by pressing the PositiveTone Button (P).The Remote Trainer
should beep and the Indicator Light should glow.
Battery Life
Under typical training conditions, the battery should last up to one year.
It is recommended that the battery be replaced on an annual basis to help
maintain optimal operation.
The Collarless Remote Trainer is powered by one 9-volt alkaline battery.
Do not use a carbon-zinc or rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery because
they will not provide enough current, resulting in a decreased range.

Operating the Remote Trainer
Use the Collarless Remote Trainer for training within a range of 30 feet
(10 meters). Point the device at your pet for optimal results.
• To activate the ultrasonic correction, push and hold the button labeled “N”
• To activate the positive sound, push and hold the button labeled “P”
Cautions
• The Collarless Remote Trainer should be stored in a dry place at room
temperature.
• Never place the Collarless Remote Trainer directly next to the ear of any
human or animal.The high intensity ultrasound could be harmful.
• Do not drop the Collarless Remote Trainer.
• Never push the Negative Tone Button for more than two consecutive
seconds.
• The Collarless Remote Trainer is not intended as a defensive or protective
device against vicious or aggressive animals.

Important Recycling Advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country.This
equipment must be recycled. If you no longer require this equipment, do not place it in the normal
municipal waste system. Please return it to where it was purchased in order that it can be placed in
our recycling system. If this is not possible, please contact the Customer Care Centre for further

Battery Disposal
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in your area
before discarding spent batteries. Please see page 4 for instructions on how to remove the battery from
the product for separate disposal.This device operates on 1 battery of the type alkaline with 9 Volt
capacity, replace only with equivalent battery.

General Tips
• Eliminate one misbehavior or teach one obedience command at a time. If
you move too fast with training, your pet may become confused.
• Be consistent. Correct your pet every time he misbehaves.
• Unless you can supervise him, it is recommended that you restrict your
pet from situations in which he has a history of misbehaving. However,
setting up a situation as a training session can dramatically improve your
chances of success.
• If your pet reacts to the tones by hiding or acting fearful, redirect his
attention to a simple and appropriate behavior, such as the “sit” command.
• When pressing the NegativeTone Button, do not say anything to your
pet. Reserve your verbalization for when he is behaving appropriately.
• Pets should be at least 6 months old before using the Trainer.
• Only let responsible family members use the Trainer. It is not a toy!
• Other pets in hearing range will be affected by the training tones.
Therefore, training sessions should be conducted out of hearing range of
other pets.
• Never use the Collarless Remote Trainer to correct or eliminate any form
of aggressive behavior.We recommend you contact your local veterinarian
or professional trainer to determine if your pet might be aggressive.
Teaching Your Pet the Positive Tone
Before using the Trainer to correct your pet, spend 10 to 15 minutes per
day for 2 or 3 days helping him create the association of the positive tone
with reward and praise.To accomplish this:
1. Push the “P” button for 2 consecutive seconds.
2. Release the button and immediately reward your pet with verbal praise,
petting, or a small food reward. Spend 3 to 5 seconds on your rewarding.
3.Wait a few minutes and repeat holding the “P” button for 2 seconds
following with praise.
Vary the reward to prevent your pet from anticipating a specific type. This
stage of training is complete when your pet obviously anticipates a reward
when he hears the positive tone.

Using the Negative Tone
As soon as your pet begins the earliest sign of misbehavior, press the “N”
button. For example, if you want to teach your dog to stay off the couch,
press the “N” button as soon as he puts one paw on it. Do not wait until
he is completely on the couch.
1. Hold the “N” button for up to 2 seconds at a time, releasing the button
as soon as your pet stops the misbehavior.
2. If your pet has not stopped the misbehavior after two seconds of
correction, release the “N” button, then press it again for up to two
consecutive seconds.
3. Continue this sequence until the misbehavior has stopped.
4. Once the misbehavior has stopped, count out two seconds and then
push the “P” button for two consecutive seconds.
5. Reward your pet following pushing the “P” button approximately once
every 3 to 5 times, to help your pet maintain the association of the
positive tone with reward.

Teaching Basic Obedience
The “Sit” Command
1. Put a 10-foot (3 m) leash on your pet.
2. Hold the leash and the Remote Trainer in one hand. Keep your other
hand free to guide your pet into a “Sit” position.
3. Press and hold the “N” Button.
4. Immediately give the “Sit” command while continuing to hold the “N”
Button.
5. Release the “N” Button as soon as your pet is in position, and press and
hold the “P” Button for 2 seconds.
6. Release your pet from the “Sit” command and play.
7. Repeat Steps 2 through 6.
Note: If your pet breaks the “Sit” command, repeat steps 3 through 6. Keep your
pet close to you while teaching the “Sit” command.

The “Come” Command
1. Put a 10-foot leash (3 m) on your pet.
2. Hold your leash in one hand and
the Remote Trainer in the other.
3.Wait for your pet to walk away
from you. Press and hold the “N”
Button on your Remote Trainer.
4. Immediately give the command
“Come”.
5. Using the leash, gently guide your
pet toward you until he begins to
come in your direction.
6. Immediately release the “N”
Button as soon as your pet steps
towards you, and press and hold
the “P” button for 2 seconds.
7. Quickly move backwards as your
pet begins to come back to you,
praising him the entire time.
8. Praise your pet when he returns to you.
9. Repeat Steps 3 through 8.
10. Once your pet responds readily to the
“Come” command several times, back away
from him without giving a command.When
your pet turns toward you, give the command
“Come” (DO NOT PRESS THE “N”
BUTTON) and praise him while you continue
to back up. Press the “P” button when your pet returns to you.
11. Use your leash to prevent your pet from running past you. If your pet
manages to run past you, repeat Steps 3 through 8.

The “Stay” Command
1. Put a 10-foot (3 m) leash on your pet.
2. Put your pet on his bed. Hold your leash in one hand and the Remote
Trainer in the other.
3. Staying within 3 feet (0.91 m), walk the perimeter of the bed. Do not
say anything to your pet.
4. If your pet tries to leave the bed, press and hold the “N” Button and give
the “Stay” command. Continue to hold the button until your pet is back
on his bed. If necessary, use the leash to guide your pet onto his place.
5.When your pet is back on his bed, press and hold the “P” Button for 2
seconds.
6. Once your pet has settled for a few seconds, release him and play calmly.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 5.
