TheconfigurablecontrolsystemPNOZmultiisusedforthesafetyrelatedinterruptionof
safetycircuitsandisdesignedforusein:

4.1 Integratedprotectionmechanisms
Therelayconformstothefollowingsafetycriteria:
}Thecircuitisredundantwithbuiltinselfmonitoring.
}Thesafetyfunctionremainseffectiveinthecaseofacomponentfailure.
4.2 Functions
ThelinkmodulePNOZmEFMultiLinkisusedtosafelytransfertheinputinformationfrom
32virtualinputsand32virtualoutputsbetweentwoPNOZmultisystems.Onelinkmodule
isassignedtoeachbaseunit.Dataisexchangedcyclically.
Thefunctionoftheinputsandoutputsonthecontrolsystemdependsonthesafetycircuit
createdusingthePNOZmultiConfigurator.Achipcardisusedtodownloadthesafetycir
cuittothebaseunit.Thebaseunithas2microcontrollersthatmonitoreachother.They
evaluatetheinputcircuitsonthebaseunitandexpansionmodulesandswitchtheoutputs
onthebaseunitandexpansionmodulesaccordingly.
TheLEDsonthebaseunitandexpansionmodulesindicatethestatusoftheconfigurable
controlsystemPNOZmulti.
TheonlinehelponthePNOZmultiConfiguratorcontainsdescriptionsoftheoperating
modesandallthefunctionsofthecontrolsystem,plusconnectionexamples.
Dataexchange:
}Dataisexchangedcyclically.
}AftertheendofaPNOZmulticycle,eachbaseunitsendsitsoutputdatatoitslinkmod
ule.Thisoutputdataisimmediatelysenttothelinkmoduleontheotherbaseunit.
}Atthesametime,thebaseunitreadstheinputdatafromthelinkmodule.
Connectionofmultiplebaseunits:
Anynumberofbaseunitscanbeconnectedvialinkmodules.Twolinkmodulesarere
quiredforaconnectionbetweentwobaseunits.However,onlyamaximumof4linkmod
ulesmaybeconnectedtoanyonebaseunit.
Virtualinputsandoutputs:
InputsandoutputsforbothPNOZmultisystemsareassignedinthePNOZmultiConfigur
ator.Inputsandoutputswiththesamenumberareassignedtoeachother,e.g.outputo5

}Fitthesafetysystemtoahorizontalmountingrail.Theventingslotsmustfaceupwards
anddownwards.Othermountingpositionscoulddestroythesafetysystem.
}Usethelockingslideontherearoftheunittoattachittoamountingrail.
}Inenvironmentsexposedtoheavyvibration,theunitshouldbesecuredusingafixing
element(e.g.retainingbracketorendangle).
}Openthelockingslidebeforeliftingtheunitfromthemountingrail.
}TocomplywithEMCrequirements,themountingrailmusthavealowimpedancecon
nectiontothecontrolcabinethousing.
}TheambienttemperatureofthePNOZmultiunitsinthecontrolcabinetmustnotexceed
