1-1About theSwitch
Congratulations on purchasing the ChassisSwitch FGSW-008. The
Switchis acombination of 8slot host cabinetwhichcanoptional a
lot of kinds of media modules to fityour networking needs. A
maximum64X 10/100 Base-TXswitched ports can be achieved
using 8X 8 port 10/100Base-TX switchmodule.
Byproviding 8G-Link bus interfacesinthe base unit, theuser has
the freedomto arrange anymodule in anyslot giving the ultimate in
flexibility.Switchfeatures store-and-forward switching scheme.
Everymodule has itsown12K-entryMAC address to store source
address. The backplane of theSwitch canreach up to 19.2Gbps as to
improving network performance.

Chapter2. Hardware Description
This chapter mainlydescribes the hardware of the Switch:
2-1 PhysicalDescription
The Switch is amodular unit,and its chassiscontains 8expansions.
The LEDs are located on the front panel of the Switchto allowyou
to monitor the operation and performance at a glance.
The Physical Dimensions of the Switch are:
440mmX 266mmX 133mm (3U height)
2-2 Front & RearPanel
The front panel of Switch displayed in Figure 2-1 is shownwith
8-port 10/100Base-TX Modules, 100Base-FX Modules and Fiber
Gigabit Modules.
The 3-pronged power plug and On/off switched are located at the
Rear Panel of the Switchdisplayed in Figure 2-2. The Switch will
work with AC in the range 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz.

2-3 ModuleLED Indicators
AllLED status indicators arelocated on the FRONT panel ofthe
switches. Theyprovide areal-time indication ofsystemand
operational status. The portsfor connections to other devices and
networks are also on the front panels. The following sections provide
descriptions of the LED indicators and ports.
2-4 Dual PowerLEDs
There are four LEDs located on the front panel of the Switch. The
LEDs are to indicate dual power supplystatus (Good or Fail ).
PowerNotice:
1. The device is apower-requireddevice, it means, it will not work
till it is powered. If your networks should active all thetime,
please consider use anUPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)for
your device. It willpreventyoufromnetwork data loss or
network downtime.
2. In some area, installing asurge suppressiondevicemayalso help
to protect your hub frombeing damaged byunregulated surge or
current to the Switch or the power adapter.

Amodule familyconsisting of either 8 x 10/100Base-TX ports;
1x1000Base-SX/LX port, 1x10/100/1000Base-Tport, 2x
100Base-FX ports; 4x100Base-FX ports, 8x100 Base-FX
ports allowsthe user to choose moduleswhichoptimize
network performance while reducing cost and complexity.
Byproviding 8G-Link bus interfaces inthe base unit, the user
has the freedomto arrange anymodule in any slot giving the
ultimate in flexibility.The integration of10/100Mbps and
1000Mbps technology isnowasimple matter of slotting inthe
desired module. Bymixing different modules in the same
cabinet, the user ensures network performance and budget
requirements are easilymet.
