INTRODUCTION
User’s Manual (3D)
1 INTRODUCTION
This manual describes how to take 3D exposures. Make
sure that you are fully acquainted with the appropriate
radiation protection measures and these instructions
before you use the X-ray unit.
The X-ray unit uses Cone Beam Computed Tomography
(CBCT) to produce three-dimensional (3D) X-ray images.
Panoramic, cephalometric and projection radiography
techniques can be used for two-dimensional (2D) X-rays.
If the X-ray unit has a ProFace sensor, you can take a 3D
photo of the patient’s face.
The X-ray images can be used for examination of
dentomaxillofacial anatomy. The 3D face photo can be
used for patient education or in order to follow the results
of medical treatments.
You need a PC with the Planmeca Romexis program in
order to save, view and modify the images.
NOTE The X-ray unit may be used by health care
professionals only.
NOTE The software version is shown briefly on the control
panel when the X-ray unit is switched on. This manual
is valid for software version 2.7.6.0.r or later. This
software version is compatible with Romexis software
version 3.7.0.r or later.
The X-ray unit features preset exposure values. However,
the exposure values required to produce good X-ray
images will vary considerably according to the build and
age of the patient. The preset exposure values are
average values and they are only meant to guide the user.
Users are encouraged to develop their own radiographic
techniques based on these values. The kV value can be
reduced from the suggested value to improve image
contrast. The radiation dose can be reduced by
decreasing the suggested mA value.
The display values shown in this manual are only
examples and should not be interpreted as recommended
values unless otherwise stated.
