II. SAFETY
Weight Limitations
YourGo-Chairisrated fora maximumweightcapacity.Please referto thespecifications tablefor thislimit.
WARNING! Exceeding the weight capacity voids your warranty and may result in personal injury
and/or damage to your Go-Chair. Pride will not be held responsible for injuries and/or property
damage resulting from failure to observe weight limitations.
WARNING! Do not carry passengers on your Go-Chair. Carrying passengers on your Go-Chair may
result in personal injury and/or property damage.
Incline Information
Moreandmorebuildingshaverampswithspecifieddegreesofinclination,designedforeasyandsafe access.Someramps
mayhave turningswitchbacks (180-degreeturns)that requireyouto havegoodcornering skillson yourGo-Chair.
!Proceedwith extreme caution asyouapproach the downgrade ofaramp or other incline.
!Take wideswings withyourtravel chair’sfrontwheelsaroundany tightcorners.Ifyoudo that,thetravel chair’srear
wheelswill followawide arc,notcut the cornershort, and notbump into orgethung uponany railingcorners.
!Whendriving down a ramp, keep thetravelchair’sspeed adjustment set to the slowestspeedsettingto ensure a
safelycontrolled descent.SeeVII. “Operation.”
!Avoid suddenstopsandstarts.
Whenclimbing anincline, trytokeep yourGo-Chairmoving. Ifyou muststop,start upagainslowly andthen accelerate
cautiously.Whendrivingdownanincline,setyourGo-Chairtotheslowestsettingand driveintheforwarddirectiononly.
IfyourGo-Chairstartstomove downtheinclinefasterthan youanticipatedordesired,allow ittocometoa completestop
byreleasingthejoystick, thenpush thejoystick forwardslightly toensureasafelycontrolled descent.
WARNING! When climbing an incline, do not zigzag or drive at an angle up the face of the incline.
Drive your Go-Chair straight up the incline. This greatly reduces the possibility of a tip or a fall.
Always exercise extreme caution when negotiating an incline.
WARNING! You should not travel up or down a potentially hazardous incline (i.e., areas covered
with snow, ice, cut grass, or wet leaves).
WARNING! When on any sort of an incline or decline, never place the Go-Chair in freewheel mode
while seated on it or standing next to it. Doing so may result in personal injury and/or damage to
your Go-Chair.
WARNING! Never travel down an incline backwards. This may result in personal injury.
WARNING! Even though your Go-Chair is capable of climbing slopes greater than those illustrated in figure
1, do not, under any circumstances, exceed the incline guidelines or any other specifications presented in
thismanual.Doingso could causeinstability inyourGo-Chair,resulting in personal injuryand/ordamageto
yourGo-Chair.
Incompliance withtheAmericanswith DisabilitiesAct of1990, all handicappublicaccess rampsarerequired to havea
maximumslope of5°(8.7%). Therefore, Priderecommendsthat themaximumslope of anincline you attempttosafely
ascend or descend on your Go-Chair does not exceed 5° (8.7%). See figure 1.
WARNING! Any attempt to climb or descend a slope steeper than 5° (8.7%) may put your Go-Chair
in an unstable position and cause it to tip, resulting in personal injury.
