Safety instructions
Keep the radio away from heat sources.

1. Turn to adjust volume by default.
Push to access and exit textSCAN.
Turn/push to adjust/select values after pressing other buttons – see below.
2. Press to access and exit the volume control.
Hold down for around three seconds to mute the volume. Turn dial to un-mute.
3. Press to access and exit Kitchen and Sleep timers for setting a countdown timer to sound an
alarm or switch the radio off.
4. Press to access and exit the presets list for storing and selecting presets.
5. Press to access and exit the Info display menu to change the text shown on the bottom line
of the screen.
6. Press to switch between DAB and FM modes.
7. Press to access Intellitext and setup options.
8. Press to access and exit the DAB station list for changing DAB stations or FM tuning for
changing FM stations.

Getting started
Thank you for buying the PURE ONE portable DAB/FM radio.
Please take a few moments to read through this manual to help you make the most of your radio,
read the safety instructions, and register your product on our website at www.pure.com/register.
1. Fully extend the telescopic aerial, connect the mains adapter and plug in to your power
supply or fit six size ‘C’ batteries or a ChargePAK.
2. Press the Standby button, if necessary, to switch the radio on. An autotune finds the
DAB stations available in your area and selects one.
3. Turn the dial to adjust the volume if required.
4. Press the Stations button and turn the dial to see all the DAB stations available and
push to change to another station.
5. Push the DAB/FM button to listen to FM stations.

To adjust the volume at most times while listening to radio turn the dial. At all other times
such as if you have a menu on screen you can adjust the volume by pressing the Volume
button first then turning the dial.

Changing the information shown on screen
Only the first two options are also available in FM. You can also access these choices by
pressing the Menu button and selecting the Info display option.
Scrolling text Broadcast by most DAB stations and FM stations with RDS data.
Time and date Updated regularly from the current/most recent DAB multiplex.
Programme type Type of DAB content being broadcast e.g. Sport, Pop music.
Sig. strength
DAB signal strength; maximum 16 bars.
Sig. quality DAB signal quality; 85 to 100 Good, 70 to 84 OK, 0 to 69 poor.
Bit rate DAB signal data rate and a stereo or mono indicator.
Multiplex name DAB multiplex the current station belongs to.
Multiplex info DAB multiplex channel and frequency.

Intellitext™ - news, sports and more
Intellitext* provides on-demand text information such as sports headlines and news. The text is
stored in your radio while you listen to stations and is updated by the broadcasters. Intellitext is
listed by station and split into categories. For example, the broadcaster may send information on
Football, Cricket, Headlines etc.
When your radio is on, Intellitext will only appear for stations that you have been tuned to for a
while. While your radio is in standby it will collect updates (from the last station from which you
viewed Intellitext) ready for when you next switch on.
To access Intellitext
Note
You can use textSCAN to pause and control the text, see page 6.
Intellitext options
Set timeout Delete Intellitext after 1 week (default) or 1 day.
Clear all Deletes Intellitext immediately.
Setting a sleep timer
You can set a sleep timer after which your radio will switch itself into standby mode.
1. Press the Timer button and turn and push the dial to choose the Sleep timer option.
2. Turn the dial and push to select 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes or Sleep off to set no
sleep time. You will see the Timer icon displayed on screen.
Return to the Sleep timer menu to view the time remaining until your radio will switch off, to
change the sleep time or cancel the sleep timer. Press and hold the Timer button to reset all
kitchen and sleep timers.

Setting a kitchen timer
You can set a countdown timer which will sound an alarm after a period.
1. Press the Timer button and push the dial to choose the Kitchen timer option.
2. Turn the dial to change the hours , push and turn again to change the minutes and push
again to confirm.
The timer is now set, you see the Timer icon on screen and the alarm will sound after the
period you have set. To view the time remaining select the Kitchen timer option again. To
cancel the timer before it goes off, set the time back to zero or press and hold the Timer
button to reset all kitchen and sleep timers. When the timer alarm goes off you can cancel the
alarm by pressing any button.
Using a ChargePAK
TM
/batteries
As an alternative to mains power you can use six size ‘C’ alkaline or rechargeable batteries or
use the PURE ChargePAK™ C6x rechargeable battery pack. When charge is low the battery icon
flashes.
Note
Always disconnect the radio from mains power supply before fitting or removing a
ChargePAK or batteries, your settings will be retained.
Using a ChargePAK
ChargePAK is a rechargeable battery pack which plugs into the socket in your radio’s battery
compartment. Whenever your radio is connected to a mains supply the ChargePAK will be
charging. When charging a ChargePAK the battery icon will be animated and when fully
charged the icon disappears. A complete charge should take around 10 hours in standby.

- Do not mix battery types or sizes
- Do not mix old and new batteries
- Remove used batteries as soon as possible to prevent leakage
- Dispose of old batteries carefully
- Orientate batteries as shown in the battery compartment

Changing your radio setup
The following options are available in DAB, FM or both.
Backlight
Choose whether the screen backlight is on, off, or turns on when a button is pressed, both
when the unit is on (Active) and in Standby.
DRC value
DRC (Dynamic Range Control) value makes the quieter sounds in a DAB broadcast easier to
hear at low volume or in a noisy environment. Check with the broadcasters to find out if they
use DRC.
DRC full Applies the DRC level as sent with the broadcast.
DRC half DRC level is set to half that sent with the broadcast.
DRC off Any DRC level broadcast will be ignored.
Station Order
Alphanumeric Lists all stations in alphanumeric order.
Active station Lists active stations first on the station list.
Multiplex Lists stations in groups according to their multiplex.
Trim stn. list Removes inactive stations from the station list.
Autotune
Scans all DAB Band III frequencies for stations and adds any new ones to the station list. To
stop an Autotune press the dial.
FM tuning mode
Changes how you tune from one station to another.
Seek Tune
Automatically searches for the next FM station with a strong signal.
Manual Tune Lets you manually step through the frequency range in steps of 0.05 MHz.
FM stereo mode
Changes between stereo and mono reception - mono may be clearer for stations with weak
signals.
Upgrade
Upgrade your radio using a PC connected to the USB socket. Upgrades may be issued to
provide enhanced functions or improve performance. The version number of your radio is
displayed on the top line.
Register your product and include an e-mail address to receive notification of product
upgrades or visit our website at www.pure.com/support.
To upgrade, select the Upgrade option and follow the instructions provided with the upgrade.
To exit the upgrade menu press the Menu button.

Hints and Tips
I don’t see any Intellitext
This could be because you haven’t tuned to a participating station or the station hasn’t
broadcast any Intellitext since you tuned in. Try tuning to a participating station (e.g. in the UK try
talkSPORT), wait and then check again.
(<<) Secondary DAB services
Secondary services accompany some stations, providing extra information or alternative content
and may only be broadcast at certain times. A secondary service has a ‘<<’ before its name in the
station list.
(?) Inactive or unavailable DAB stations
Inactive or unavailable stations are those which appear on the station list but are not currently
available. Inactive stations have a ‘?’ before their name on the station list. If you select a station
which has this symbol, your radio tries to tune in or returns to the previous station.
Display says ‘
No stations available’
Check that your aerial is fully extended. Use Autotune to search for stations. Try adjusting your
aerial or radio position.
Resetting your radio
Resetting your radio removes all presets, stored stations and favourite station settings and resets
all options to defaults. To reset:
1. Press and hold the Menu button for three seconds.
2. Push the dial to confirm the reset or press no buttons to cancel the reset.

Inbetriebnahme
Danke, dass Sie sich für das DAB/UKW-Radio PURE ONE entschieden haben. Bitte nehmen
Sie sich die Zeit, die Gebrauchsanweisung zu studieren. Registrieren Sie das Produkt auf
unserer Website www.pure.com/register.
1. Ziehen Sie die Teleskopantenne vollständig aus. Schliessen Sie das Gerät mit dem
mitgelieferten Netzadapter an die Steckdose, oder legen Sie sechs Alkaline-Batterien
des Typs C/LR14/Baby oder den Akku PURE ChargePAK ins Batteriefach ein.
2. Schalten Sie das Gerät mit der Standby-Taste ein. Die Balkenanzeige zeigt den Verlauf
des Autotune-Vorganges zum Auffinden von DAB-Sendern Ihrer Umgebung.
3. Stellen Sie die Lautstärke auf das gewünschte Niveau ein.

Intellitext™ – Nachrichten, Sport u.a.
Intellitext bietet auf Abfrage Textinformationen (Sport, Nachrichten etc.). Der Text wird auf Ihrem
Radio gespeichert, während Sie einen Sender hören, und wird vom Anbieter aktualisiert. Intellitext
ist nach Sendern geordnet und in Kategorien unterteilt, die vom Anbieter definiert werden (z.B.
Fussball, Cricket, Rugby, Wetter etc.)
Bei eingeschaltetem Radio erscheint Intellitext nur bei Sendern, auf denen diese Informationen übertragen
werden und die bereits seit einiger Zeit eingestellt sind. Wenn sich das Radio in Standby-Bereitschaft
befindet, werden ebenfalls aktualisierte Informationen empfangen (vom zuletzt eingestellten Sender, auf
dem Intellitext angezeigt wurde), die beim erneuten Einschalten des Geräts angezeigt werden können.

Einstellung des Sleep-Timers
Mit dieser Funktion können Sie eine Zeitspanne einstellen, nach der das Gerät automatisch
in den Standby-Modus zurückschaltet.
1. Drücken Sie die Timer-Taste und wählen Sie durch Drehen und Drücken des Reglers die
Option „Sleep Timer“.
2. Drehen Sie den Regler und drücken Sie ihn nach innen, um die gewünschte Betriebszeit zu
wählen: 15, 30, 45, 60 oder 90 Minuten. Wenn Sie keine Zeitspanne einstellen möchten, wählen
Sie die Option „Sleep Off“. Das Timer-Symbol zeigt an, dass der Sleep-Timer eingestellt wurde.
Gehen Sie zurück zum Sleep-Timer-Menü um zu sehen, wie viel von der eingestellten Zeitspanne
noch übrig ist, oder wenn Sie die Zeitspanne ändern oder den Sleep-Timer löschen möchten.
Halten Sie die Timer-Taste gedrückt, um den Countdown- und Sleep-Timer auf Null zurückzusetzen.

Einstellung des Countdown-Timers (Kitchen Timer)
Mit dieser Funktion können Sie eine Zeitspanne einstellen, nach deren Ablauf vom Gerät ein
Signalton ausgelöst wird.
1. Drücken Sie die Timer-Taste und drücken Sie den Regler (1) nach innen, um die Funktion
des Countdown-Timers zu wählen.
2. Stellen Sie durch Drehen des Reglers die Stundenzahl ein. Drücken Sie den Regler nach
innen und drehen Sie ihn wieder zur Einstellung der Minuten. Drücken Sie den Regler ein
letztes Mal, um die Einstellung zu bestätigen.
Nach beendeter Einstellung erscheint das Timer-Symbol im Display, und nach Ablauf der
eingestellten Zeitspanne wird ein Signalton ausgelöst. Gehen Sie zurück zur Option „Kitchen-
Timer“, um die Restzeit anzuzeigen. Wenn Sie den Timer vorzeitig ausschalten möchten, setzen
Sie die Laufzeit auf Null zurück oder halten Sie die Timer-Taste gedrückt (Countdown- und
Sleep-Timer werden dadurch auf Null zurückgesetzt). Der Signalton kann durch Drücken einer
beliebigen Taste ausgeschaltet werden.
Batteriebetrieb
Als Alternative zum Netzgerät können auch sechs Alkaline-Batterien des Typs C/LR14/Baby oder
der aufladbare Akku PURE ChargePAK™ C6x (Akku und Batterien nicht mitgeliefert) verwendet
werden. Das Symbol blinkt bei nachlassender Batterieleistung. Ziehen Sie den DC-Stecker aus der
Anschlussbuchse des Geräts, um vom Netzbetrieb auf den Batteriebetrieb umzuschalten.
Betrieb mit ChargePAK
ChargePAK ist ein aufladbarer Akku, der an die Buchse im Innern des Batteriefachs
geschlossen wird. Der Akku wird geladen, wenn das Radio mit dem Netzgerät an die
Steckdose geschlossen wurde. Die vollständige Ladung des Akkus dauert im Standby-Modus
ungefähr 10 Stunden. Der Akku kann anschliessend problemlos im Gerät gelassen werden.

- Alte und neue Batterien nicht zusammen verwenden
- Verbrauchte Batterien so früh wie möglich entfernen, um ein Auslaufen zu verhindern
- Alte Batterien mit Vorsicht und umweltgerecht entsorgen
