TheoryofOperation
TheMV600isaroddisplacementstyle,positivedisplacementmeteringheadwithtwo
integralcheckvalvestocontroltheflowofmaterialintoandoutofthevalve.Aspring
loadedcheckvalvemountedtothemeteringcylinderact’sastheinletcheckvalveand
theSB300seriesrearclosingdispensevalveactsastheoutletcheckvalve.
Themeteringchamberhousesarodandcylindercombinationtometeraspecific
amountofmaterialtobedispensed.Amicrometerintheupperairsectionisadjustedto
setthetraveldistanceoftherodthussettingthechambervolumethatwilldisplacea
specificfluidvolumeduringeachcycle.Duringfill,theSB300dispensevalvewillstay
closedasfluidpressureisusedtopushthepistonupwarduntilitreachesthe
micrometer“hardstop”.Anairportonthemeteringchamberisavailableforrefillassist
topullfluidintothemeteringsectionfaster.Oncefilled,airpressureissimultaneously
appliedtotheSB300tocycleitopenandtheairsectionofthemeteringchamberto
drivetheroddownandforcefluidoutofthevalve.Asecondairportislocatedonthe
meteringchambertodoublethepressureusedtodrivetheroddowntodispense.
AstrokeadjustmentintheairsectionoftheSB300canbeusedtocontroltheamountof
suckbacktopreventdrippingandstringingwiththickerfluids.
Setup
TheMV600requiresa2‐position,4‐wayairsolenoidvalvetoactuatetheairsection.
Thevalveshouldbeoperatedwithclean,dryairbetween50‐100psi.Two#10‐32
threadedairportsarelocatedontheairsectionoftheSB300valveandthree#10‐32
portsarelocatedonairsectionofthemeteringchamber.Theportlocatedontheside
oftheSB300isairtoclosethevalve.Theportlocatedonthetopofthestroke
adjustmentisairtoopenthevalve.Theairsupplyconnectedtothestrokeadjustment
oftheSB300shouldbetiedtothehighestandlowestportontheairsectionofthe
meteringchamber.Themiddleportofthemeteringchambercanbetiedtotheporton
thesideoftheSB300toproviderefillassist.Quickconnectairfittingsaretypically
suppliedwiththeMV600tofit5/32”tubing.Notethatthevalveshouldbenormallyin
theclosedposition.Flowcontrolairfittingscanbeusedtocontrolthespeedofrefill
anddispenseoffluid.
FluidissuppliedtotheMV600throughthe1/4”mnptinletcheckvalvelocatedonthe
inletofthemeteringcylinder.

TherearethreedifferentoptionswhenconnectingpneumatictotheMV600series
valve.TheSB300seriesoutletvalvemustalwaysbeconnectedtothesolenoidbutthe
meteringcylindercontainstoportswhichcanbeusedtodrivefluidtodispenseandone
portwhichcanbeusedtoassistrefillingfluidinthemeteringcylinder.
Option1:Usedforhighestviscosityfluids.Bothdispenseportsareconnectedproviding
a40:1ratiomechanicaladvantagefordispensepressure.Refillassistportisconnected
topullfluidintothemeteringchamberfaster.

NOTE: Use only compatible solvents and materials or the seals and O-rings will
be damaged.
ConnectPneumatics
1. ConnectairlinesfromsolenoidtovalveasshowninTable2,3,or4depending
onthetypeofconfigurationthatfitstheapplication.
2. Supplyairpressuretosolenoidvalveandregulatebetween50‐100psi.
(Note:80psi.optimalairpressuresetting)
3. Turnthemicrometerofthemeteringpistoncounter‐clockwiseuntilthe#3can
beseenontheinsidedial
4. Cyclevalveseveraltimes.Makesurethepistoncanbeheardhittingthe
micrometerandtherodoftheSB300canbeseengoingupanddown.
BleedValve
1. Connectfluiddeliverysystemtovalve.
2. Pressurizefluidandadjustaboveminimumoperatingrange.
3. Cyclevalveseveraltimesusinga1‐2seconddelayinbetweenfillingand
dispensinguntilfluidcanbeseenatluerlockoutlet.
4. Continuecyclingvalveuntilallairisremovedfromthesystemandasteadyflow
offluidcanbeseencomingfromthevalveoutlet.

ValveSettings
1. Fluidpressuretovalveinletwilldeterminepistonrefilltime.Increasingfluid
pressurewillallowthemeteringchambertofillatafasterrate.
2. Connectingthesolenoidtotherefillassistportasshownintable2or3topull
fluidinfasteranddecreasefilltime.
3. Connectthesolenoidtobothairdispenseportsasshownintable2inorderto
buildthemaximumamountofpressuretodispensefluidanddecreasedispense
time.
4.Turningthemicrometercounter‐clockwisewillincreasethevolumeandturning
itcounter‐clockwisewilldecreasethefluidvolume.
Note: After each adjustment, cycle the valve one to dispense and check new
volume.
Note: Valve should be cycled to the open position when adjusting the
micrometer so the piston is not being forced against the micrometer.
5.Oncethedesiredvolumeisachieved,turnthecolorofthemicrometertolockit
inplace.
6.UsethestrokeadjustmentoftheSB300regulatetheamountoftraveloftherod
andsettheamountofsuckbackattheendofeachcycle.Turningthestroke
adjustmentcounter‐clockwisewillincreasetheamountofsuckbackandturning
itclockwisewilldecreasetheamountofsuckback.
Note: If the stroke adjustment is turned down too low then the SB300 will
not close and fluid will continue to leak from valve.
7.Oncethedesiredrateandvolumeisachieved,attachaluerlockdispensenozzle
totheoutletofthevalveandrechecksettings.
Shutdown
Attheendofthedayit’srecommendedtoremovetheluerlockdispensetipand
replaceitwithaluerlockplug,thenremoveinletfluidpressuretovalve.
