Controller for constant supply air control
or room temperature control,
one three-position output
and active frost protection
AQUA24TF is intended for constant supply air temperature control
or room temperature control in water heated air handling units.
Settable for use with internal or external sensor. It has one three-
position output, active frost protection and shut-down control.
Installation
Remove the front. The cover retaining screw is behind the setpoint
knob.
Mount the unit vertically with the setpoint knob at the lower right
hand corner.
Use screws with a maximum head diameter of 5.5 mm.
The mounting holes have a c:c distance of 60 mm to fit onto a
standard size wallbox.
If the AQUA24TF is to be used with the built-in sensor, mount it
approximately 5 ft above floor level in a location with a
representative temperature and good air circulation.
Protection class IP20
Function switches
AQUA24TF can be configured either for single sensor control
(supply air control or room temperature control using room sensor
only) or for cascade control. Use the three function switches to set
the desired control function. See figure 1.
Sensors
Main sensor
For supply air control the main sensor is placed in the supply air
duct after the heater. Wire, and set the sensor switches according to
figure 2 if the built in setpoint is used, otherwise according to figure
3 or 4 depending on which setpoint device is chosen.
For room temperature control the main sensor, or theAQUA24TF if
the built-in sensor is to be used, is placed in the room at a suitable
location. Wire, and set the sensor switches according to figure 2 if
the built in setpoint is used, otherwise according to figure 6.
If the built-in sensor is used, set the switches as in figure 5.
Limiting sensor, cascade control
For room temperature control the AQUA24TF can be configured
as a cascade controller with the main sensor in the room and a
limiting sensor in the supply air duct. A room temperature
deviation results in a shift of the duct temperature controller’s
setpoint. The size of the shift is determined by the cascade
factor CF.
When using cascade control, the supply air temperature can be
minimum limited.
Wire the limiting sensor according to figure 7
Frost protection sensor
The frost protection sensor is placed, either as a strap-on
sensor (TG-A130), on the heater return water pipe or, as an
immersion sensor (TG-D130), in the heater or the return water
pipe.
Should the temperature at the frost protection sensor fall below
10°C the frost protection controller will force the valve to open.
Should the temperature fall below 5°C the alarm relays will trip.
The frost protection alarm is reset by pushing the button RESET
on the left hand side of the unit.
Relay 1: 2 A, 240 V AC is for stopping the fan.
Relay 2: 2 A, 24 V is for alarm indication.
Wire the frost protection sensor according to fig.8
Other wiring
Supply voltage and outputs
Supply voltage: 24V AC +/-15% 50-60Hz.
Power consumption 5VA maximum
Terminal 13 = Phase.
Terminal 14 = System neutral.
Output: 24V AC, 7VA maximum
Terminal 17 =Common pole
Terminal 18 = Increase heat
Terminal 19 = Reduce heat
Proportional band = 20K
Pulse period = 4 seconds
(A small temperature offset will generate a short pulse every 4
seconds on the output that will counteract the offset. If the offset
increases the pulse will grow longer. A 20K offset will generate a
continuous output signal).
N.B. Always connect the actuator to these three terminals
only. Terminal 17 is NOT neutral.
