1. OVERVIEW
The Uni-7 may be configured as a self-serve scale which allows customers to
weigh and label their purchases. This reduces the workload of the clerks at check
out to simply scanning a barcode rather than looking up PLUs and weighing
purchases.
When the Uni-7 is configured in self-serve mode the operation is greatly simplified
to a basic operation of selecting the PLU and printing a label. PLUs can be recalled
by number or by category and preset key.
2. CONFIGURATION
2.1 Set the Sales Mode to Self Serve:
Setup menu, Sales Mode = SELF-SERVE
Power the scale off as instructed.

2.2 After the Uni-7 is configured in Self-Serve mode the menus are accessed by:
495344, MODE then 495344, PLU.
2.3 Select either Preset key or Numeric 10-key operation:
Setup menu, Operation Setting, Self tab, Self Type = PRESET or NUMERIC
•NUMERIC [7][8][9] = 7, 8, 9 across the top row of the numeric keypad
•NUMERIC [1][2][3] = 1, 2, 3 across the top row of the numeric keypad
Enable text search as needed: Search Key = USE.
2.4 If enabled, configure Search to check the first two lines of all PLUs:
Call tab, Find PLU = LINE2
3. OPERATION – PLU RECALL
3.1 Numeric 10-Key
3.1.1 Recall a PLU by entering a PLU number and pressing OK.

3.2.1 Select a Category by pressing a button.
3.2.2 Select a PLU by pressing a button.

3.3 PLU Search
3.3.1 Press the green SEARCH button to locate PLUs by name. Type the
description and press the SEARCH button. Based on the configuration
settings in steps 2.3 and 2.4 above, the first two lines of all PLU names
will be searched.
4. OPERATION – LABEL PRINT
4.1 Weighed items: Place weight on the scale and press the LABEL PRINT
button or press the CANCEL to return to the PLU selection screen.
4.2 Fixed Price/Weight items: Press the LABEL PRINT button or press the
CANCEL to return to the PLU selection screen. If more than one piece is
purchased enter the value using the numeric keys and press the PCS field.

5.1 When the Uni-7 is configured in Self-Serve mode menus are accessed by:

5.2 The revision 4 updates in this guide are based on Uni-7 firmware B0674R.
