DURATION OF HARDWARE WARRANTY
HARDWARE: In accordance with the provisions described nder, R byTech Corporation (hereinafter called “R byTech”) warrants its hardware prod cts
(hereinafter referred to as "Prod ct") specified herein to be for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of shipment.
Sho ld a Prod ct fail to perform d ring the effective warranty period as described above, R byTech shall replace the defective Prod ct or part, or delivering
a f nctionally eq ivalent Prod ct or part in receipt of c stomer’s req est, provided that the c stomer complies with the ret rn material a thorization (RMA)
proced res and ret rns all defective Prod ct prior to installation of the replacements to R byTech.
All defective Prod cts m st be ret rned to R byTech with iss ance of a Ret rn Material A thorization n mber (RMA n mber) assigned to the reseller from
whom the end c stomer originally p rchased the Prod ct. The reseller is responsible for ens ring the shipments are ins red, with the transportation
charges prepaid and the RMA n mber clearly marked on the o tside of the package. R byTech will not accept collect shipments or those ret rned witho t
an RMA n mber.
R byTech shall not be responsible for any software, firmware, information or memory data contained in, stored on or integrated with any Prod ct ret rned to
R byTech p rs ant to any warranty.
EXCLUSIONS. The warranty as mentioned above does not apply to the following conditions, in R byTech’s j dgment, it contains (1) c stomer does not
comply with the man al instr ctions offered by R byTech in installation, operation, repair or maintenance, (2) Prod ct fails d e to damage from n s al
external or electrical stress, shipment, storage, accident, ab se or mis se, (3) Prod ct is sed in an extra hazardo s environment or activities, (4) any serial
n mber on the Prod ct has been removed or defaced, (5) this warranty will be of no effect if the repair is via anyone other than R byTech or the approved
agents, or (6) In the event of any fail res or delays by either party hereto in the performance of all or any part of this agreement d e to acts of God, war, riot,
ins rrection, national emergency, strike, embargo, storm, earthq ake, or other nat ral forces, or by the acts of anyone not a party to this agreement, or by
the inability to sec re materials or transportation, then the party so affected shall be exec ted from any f rther performance for a period of time after the
occ rrence as may reasonably be necessary to remedy the effects of that occ rrence, b t in no event more than sixty (60) days. If any of the stated events
sho ld occ r, Party A shall promptly notify Party B in writing as soon as commercially practicable, b t in no event more than twenty (20) b siness days and
provide doc mentation evidencing s ch occ rrence. In no event shall the maxim m liability of R byTech nder this warranty exceed the p rchase price of
the Prod ct covered by this warranty.

RUBYTECH SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
NOTICE: Please caref lly read this Software License Agreement (hereinafter referred to as this “Agreement”) before copying or sing the accompanying
software or installing the hardware nit with pre-enabled software or firmware (each of which is referred to as “Software” in this Agreement). BY COPYING
OR USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU ACCEPT ALL OF THE PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. THE PROVISIONS EXPRESSED IN
THIS AGREEMENT ARE THE ONLY PROVISION UNDER WHICH RUBYTECH WILL PERMIT YOU TO USE THE SOFTWARE. If yo do not accept these
provisions and conditions, please immediately ret rn the n sed software, man al and the related prod ct. Written approval is NOT a prereq isite to the
validity or enforceability of this Agreement and no solicitation of any s ch written approval by or on behalf of R byTech shall be deemed as an inference to
the contrary.
LICENSE GRANT. The end ser (hereinafter referred to as “Licensee”) of the Software is granted a personal, non-s blicensable, nonexcl sive,
nontransferable license by R byTech Corporation (“R byTech”): (1) To se the R byTech’s software (“Software”) in object code form solely on a single
central processing nit owned or leased by Licensee or otherwise embedded in the eq ipment offered by R byTech. (2) To copy the Software only for
back p p rposes in s pport of a thorized se of the Software. (3) To se and copy the doc mentation related to the Software solely in s pport of a thorized
se of the Software by Licensee. The License applies to the Software only except other R byTech’s software or hardware prod cts. Witho t the prior written
consent of R byTech, Licensee has no right to receive any so rce code or design doc mentation with respect to the Software.
RESTRICTIONS ON USE; RESERVATION OF RIGHTS. The Software and related doc mentation are protected nder copyright laws. R byTech and/or its
licensors retain all title and ownership in both the Software and its related doc mentation, incl ding any revisions made by R byTech. The copyright notice
m st be reprod ced and incl ded with any copy of any portion of the Software or related doc mentation. Except as expressly a thorized above, Licensee
shall not copy or transfer the Software or related doc mentation, in whole or in part. Licensee also shall not modify, translate, decompile, disassemble, se
for any competitive analysis, reverse compile or reverse assemble all or any portion of the Software, related doc mentation or any copy. The Software and
related doc mentation embody R byTech’s confidential and proprietary intellect al property. Licensee is not allowed to disclose the Software, or any
information abo t the operation, design, performance or implementation of the Software and related doc mentation that is confidential to R byTech to any
third party. Software and related doc mentation may be delivered to yo s bject to export a thorization req ired by governments of Taiwan and other
co ntries. Yo agree that yo will not export or re-export any Software or related doc mentation witho t the proper export licenses req ired by the
governments of affected co ntries.
LIMITED SOFTWARE WARRANTY. R byTech warrants that any media on which the Software is recorded will be free from defects in materials nder
normal se for a period of twelve (12) months from date of shipment. If a defect in any s ch media sho ld occ r d ring the effective warranty period, the
media may be ret rned to R byTech, then R byTech will replace the media. R byTech shall not be responsible for the replacement of media if the fail re of
the media res lts from accident, ab se or misapplication of the media.
EXCLUSIONS. The warranty as mentioned above does not apply to the Software, which (1) c stomer does not comply with the man al instr ctions offered
by R byTech in installation, operation, or maintenance, (2) Prod ct fails d e to damage from n s al external or electrical stress, shipment, storage,
accident, ab se or mis se, (3) Prod ct is sed in an extra hazardo s environment or activities, (4) any serial n mber on the Prod ct has been removed or

TERM AND TERMINATION. The License is effective ntil terminated; however, all of the restrictions in regard to R byTech’s copyright in the Software and
related doc mentation will cease being effective at the date of expiration; Notwithstanding the termination or expiration of the term of this agreement, it is
acknowledged and agreed that those obligations relating to se and disclos re of R byTech’s confidential information shall s rvive. Licensee may terminate
this License at any time by destroying the software together with all copies thereof. This License will be immediately terminated if Licensee fails to comply
with any term and condition of the Agreement. Upon any termination of this License for any reason, Licensee shall discontin e to se the Software and shall
destroy or ret rn all copies of the Software and the related doc mentation.
GENERAL. This License shall be governed by and constr ed p rs ant to the laws of Taiwan. If any portion hereof is held to be invalid or nenforceable,
the remaining provisions of this License shall remain in f ll force and effect. Neither the License nor this Agreement is assignable or transferable by
Licensee witho t R byTech’s prior written consent; any attempt to do so shall be void. This License constit tes the entire License between the parties with
respect to the se of the Software.
LICENSEE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT LICENSEE HAS READ THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTANDS IT, AND AGREES TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS AND
CONDITIONS. LICENSEE FURTHER AGREES THAT THIS AGREEMENT IS THE ENTIRE AND EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN RUBYTECH AND
LICENSEE.

1. I troductio
1-1. Overview of FGS-2824 L2 Ma aged Switch
FGS-2824, a 24-port Gigabit L2 Managed Switch, is a standard switch that
meets all IEEE 802.3/ /x/z Gigabit, Fast Ethernet specifications. The switch
incl ded 8-Port 10/100/1000Mbps TP and 16-Port Gigabit SFP Fiber management
Ethernet switch. The switch can be managed thro gh RS-232 serial port via directly
connection, or thro gh Ethernet port sing CLI or Web-based management nit,
associated with SNMP agent. With the SNMP agent, the network administrator can
logon the switch to monitor, config re and control each port’s activity in a friendly
way. The overall network management is enhanced and the network efficiency is
also improved to accommodate high bandwidth applications. In addition, the switch
feat res comprehensive and sef l f nction s ch as QoS (Q ality of Service),
Spanning Tree, VLAN, Port Tr nking, Bandwidth Control, Port Sec rity,
SNMP/RMON, IGMP Snooping capability via the intelligent software. It is s itable
for both metro-LAN and office application.
In this switch,1000Mbps SFP Fiber transceiver is sed for high-speed
connection expansion.

10/100/1000Mbps TP is a standard Ethernet port that meets all IEEE
802.3/ /x/z Gigabit, Fast Ethernet specifications. 1000Mbps SFP Fiber transceiver
is a Gigabit Ethernet port that f lly complies with all IEEE 802.3z and 1000Base-
SX/LX standards.
1000Mbps Single Fiber WDM (BiDi) transceiver is designed with an optic
Wavelength Division M ltiplexing (WDM) technology that transports bi-directional
f ll d plex signal over a single fiber sim ltaneo sly.
For pgrading firmware, please refer to the Section 3-21 or Section 4-2-2 for
more details. The switch will not stop operating while pgrading firmware and after
that, the config ration keeps nchanged.

• Key Features i the Device
QoS:
S pport Q ality of Service by the IEEE 802.1P standard. There are two
priority q e e and packet transmission sched le sing Weighted Ro nd
Robin (WRR). User-defined weight classification of packet priority can be
based on either a VLAN tag on packet or a ser-defined port priority.
Spanning Tree:
S pport IEEE 802.1D, IEEE 802.1w (RSTP: Rapid Spanning Tree
Protocol) and IEEE 802.1s (MSTP: M ltiple Spanning Tree Protocol)
standards.
VLAN:
S pport Port-based VLAN and IEEE802.1Q Tag VLAN. S pport 256 active
VLANs and VLAN ID 1~4094.
Port Tr nking:
S pport static port tr nking and port tr nking with IEEE 802.3ad LACP.
Bandwidth Control:
S pport ingress and egress per port bandwidth control.
Port Sec rity:
S pport allowed, denied forwarding and port sec rity with MAC address.
SNMP/RMON:
SNMP agent and RMON MIB. In the device, SNMP agent is a client
software which is operating over SNMP protocol sed to receive the
command from SNMP manager (server site) and echo the corresponded
data, i.e. MIB object. Besides, SNMP agent will actively iss e TRAP
information when happened.
RMON is the abbreviation of Remote Network Monitoring and is a branch of
the SNMP MIB.
The device s pports MIB-2 (RFC 1213), Bridge MIB (RFC 1493), RMON
MIB (RFC 1757)-statistics Gro p 1,2,3,9, VLAN MIB (802.1Q, RFC2674),
Ethernet MIB (RFC 1643) and so on.
IGMP Snooping:
S pport IGMP version 2 (RFC 2236): The f nction IGMP snooping is sed
to establish the m lticast gro ps to forward the m lticast packet to the
member ports, and, in nat re, avoid wasting the bandwidth while IP
m lticast packets are r nning over the network.

• Co ecti g the SFP Module to the Chassis:
The optional SFP mod les are hot swappable, so yo can pl g or npl g it
before or after powering on.
1. Verify that the SFP mod le is the right model and conforms to the chassis
2. Slide the mod le along the slot. Also be s re that the mod le is properly
seated against the slot socket/connector
3. Install the media cable for network connection
4. Repeat the above steps, as needed, for each mod le to be installed into
slot(s)
5. Have the power ON after the above proced res are done

• TP Port a d Cable I stallatio
⇒ In the switch, TP port s pports MDI/MDI-X a to-crossover, so both types of
cable, straight-thro gh (Cable pin-o ts for RJ-45 jack 1, 2, 3, 6 to 1, 2, 3, 6 in
10/100M TP; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 in Gigabit TP) and
crossed-over (Cable pin-o ts for RJ-45 jack 1, 2, 3, 6 to 3, 6, 1, 2) can be sed.
It means yo do not have to tell from them, j st pl g it.
⇒ Use Cat. 5 grade RJ-45 TP cable to connect to a TP port of the switch and the
other end is connected to a network-aware device s ch as a workstation or a
server.
⇒ Repeat the above steps, as needed, for each RJ-45 port to be connected to a
Gigabit 10/100/1000 TP device.
Now, yo can start having the switch in operation.

• Power O
The switch s pports 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power s pply. The power
s pply will a tomatically convert the local AC power so rce to DC power. It does not
matter whether any connection pl gged into the switch or not when power on, even
mod les as well. After the power is on, all LED indicators will light p immediately
and then all off except the power LED still keeps on. This represents a reset of the
system.

• Firmware Loadi g
After resetting, the bootloader will load the firmware into the memory. It will
take abo t 30 seconds, after that, the switch will flash all the LED once and
a tomatically performs self-test and is in ready state.
