CAUTION
• Ifyou usethe airconditionerat a relative humidityabove 80%, it maycause a formation of

• The rated heating capacityis based on an outdoortemperature of 7°C. If the outdoortemperature
goes down below 0°C, heating efficiencies may decrease depending on the temperature
conditions.
• If the indoorunit is out of the operatingtemperature and humidityrange, the saferydevice may
operate and the airconditionermaystop.
Pairinganindoorunitwith a remotecontrol
When using multiple indoorunit,you can control individuallypairing remote control and indoorunit.
Set byremote control whenthe indoorunit is off.

Before cleaning the indoorunit, be sureto turn offthe auxiliary powerswitch.

Wipe the surface of the unitwith a slightlywet
ordryclothwhen needed.Wipe off dirt of odd-
shaped areas by using a soft brush.
CAUTION
• Do not use alkaline detergent, sulphuric
acid, hydrochloric acid, ororganic solvents
(such as thinner, kerosene, and acetone) to
clean the surfaces.
• Do not attach anystickers on the surfaces
because this may cause damage.
• Whenyou clean the heat exchangeron the
indoorunit,you need to disassemblethe
indoorunit. Therefore,you must contact the
local service centerforhelp.
Cleaningthe outdoorunit heat exchanger
Spraywatertocleanthedust.
CAUTION
• The heat exchangerof the outdoorunit has
sharp edges. Take care when cleaning its
surface.
NOTE
• If it is difficult to clean the heat exchanger
of the outdoorunit, contactthe local service

Cleaningthe airfilter
CAUTION
• Be sureto holdthe grillewith a hand to prevent dropping from the opening of the front grille.
1 Detaching the airfilter
Push down the hooks at each side ofthe front
grille to open the grille.
NOTE
• The hooks are located on both sides of the
front grillwith the Samsung logo.
Pull out the airfilterfrom the indoorunit.
2 Cleaning the airfilter
Clean the airfilterwith avacuum cleanerorsoft
brush. If dust is too heavy, then rinse itwith
runningwaterand dryit in a ventilated area.
CAUTION
Do not scrub the airfilterwith a brush orother
cleaning device. This maydamage the filter.
NOTE
• If the airfilterdries in a humid area, it may
produce offensive odours. Clean it again and
dryit in awell-ventilated area.
• The cleaning period maydifferdepending on
the usage and environmental conditions, so
clean the airfiltereveryweek if the indoor
unit is in the dustyarea.

3 Reassembling the airfilter
CAUTION
• If the indoorunit is usedwithout the airfilter,
the indoorunit maybe damaged due to dust.
4 Resetting the airfilter
Aftercleaning and reassembling the airfilter,
be sureto reset the filter-cleaning reminderas
follows:
• Indoorunitwith thewired remote control:
Press the FilterReset button.
• Indoorunitwith thewireless remote control:
Press the OptionsɵЇϩϩͱͱθ࣍Filter

NOTE
• The filterreset indicatorblinkswhen the air
filtershould be cleaned.
• Although the filtercleaning indicator( )
does not light, be sure to press the "Filter
Reset" button aftercleaningthe dust filter.
• If the angle ofthe airflowblade is changed
byopening the front grille forinstallation
ormaintenance of the indoorunit, be sure
to turn off andthen on the auxiliaryswitch
before operating the indoorunit again. If
not, the angle ofthe airflowblade maybe
changed and the blades maynot be closed
afterturning off the indoorunit.

Troubleshooting
Referto the following chart if the airconditioneroperates abnormally. This maysavetime and
unnecessaryexpense.

• Because of the protective mechanism, the appliance does not start
operating immediatelyto keepthe unit from overloading. The air
conditionerwill start in 3 minutes.
The airconditioner
does not operate
at all.
• Checkwhetherthe poweris turned on, andthen operate the air
conditioneragain.
• Checkwhetherthe auxiliarypowerswitch (MCCB, ELB) is turned on.
• If the auxiliary powerswitch (MCCB, ELB) is turned off, the air
conditionerdoes notwork althoughyou pressthe (Power) button.
• Whenyou clean the airconditionerordo not use it foran extended
period of time,turn off the auxiliarypowerswitch (MCCB, ELB).
• Afterthe airconditioneris not used foran extended period of time, be
sureto turn onthe auxiliary powerswitch (MCCB, ELB) 6 hours before
starting operation.
NOTE
• The auxiliary powerswitch (MCCB, ELB) is sold separately.
• Make sure that auxiliarypowerswitch (MCCB, ELB) is installed in
the distribution box insidethe building.
• If the airconditioneris turned off bythe Timed off function, turn onthe
airconditioneragain by pressing the (Power) button.
Thetemperature
does not change.
• Checkwhetherthe Fan mode is running. In the Fan mode,the air
conditionercontrols the set temperature automatically, and you cannot
change the set temperature.
Warm airdoes not
come out of the air
conditioner.
• Checkwhetherthe outdoorunit is designed forcooling only. In this case,
warm airdoes not come out althoughyou select the Heat mode.
• Checkwhetherthe remote control is designed only forcooling only. Use
a remote control that supports both cooling and heating.
The fan speed does
not change.
• CheckwhethertheAuto orDrymode is running. In these modes, the
airconditionercontrolsthe fan speed automatically, andyou cannot
change the fan speed.
Thewireless
remote control
does not operate.
• Checkwhetherthe batteries are discharged. Replacethe batterieswith
newones.
• Make sure that nothing is blocking the remote control sensor.
• Checkwhetheranystrong lighting sources are nearthe airconditioner.
Strong lightwhich comesfromfluorescent bulbs orneon signs may
interfere with the remote control.

• Checkwhetherthe indicatoris displayed at the bottom right of the
remote control display. In this case, turn off both the airconditionerand
the auxiliary powerswitch, andthen contact a service centre.

• Checkwhetherthewired remote control is set forgroup control. In this
case,the airconditioners connectedtothewired remote control are
turned on oroff sequentially. This operation takes up to 32 seconds.
The Timed on/off
function does not
operate. • Check whetheryou pressed the (SET) button on the remote control
aftersetting the on/off time. Set the on/off time.
The indoorunit
displayblinks
continuously.
• Turn on the airconditioneragain bypressing the (Power) button.
• Turn off and then turn on the auxiliarypowerswitch, and thenturn on
the conditioner.
• If the indoorunit displayis still blinking, contact a service centre.
I want to get cooler
air. • Operatethe airconditionerwith a electric fanto save energyand enhance the cooling efficiency.
The airis not cool or
warm enough.
• In the Cool mode, cool airdoes not come out if the set temperature is
higherthan the current temperature.
– Remote control: Press the Temperature button repeatedly untilthe
set temperature (minimum:18°C) is setto lowerthan the current
temperature.
• In the Heat mode,warm airdoes not come out if the set temperature is
lowerthan the current temperature.
– Remote control: Press the Temperature button repeatedlyuntil the
set temperature (maximum: 30°C) is setto higherthan the current
temperature.
• Both cooling and heating do not operate in the Fan mode. Select the
Cool, Heat, Auto, orDry mode.
• Check whetherthe airfilteris blockedwith dirt. Adusty filtermay
decreasethe cooling and heating efficiencies. Clean the airfilter
frequently.
• If a coveris on the outdoorunit oranyobstacle is present nearthe
outdoorunit, remove them.
• Install the outdoorunit in awell-ventilated place. Avoiding places
exposed to direct sunlight orcloseto a heating appliance.
• Place a sunscreen overthe outdoorunit to protect it from direct sunlight.
• If the indoorunit is installed in a place exposedto direct sunlight, pull
the curtains on thewindows.

• Close thewindows and doors to maximize the cooling and heating
efficiencies.
• If the Cool mode is stopped and then started immediately, cool aircomes
out afterabout 3 minutes to protect the compressorof the outdoorunit.
• When the Heat mode is started,warm airdoes not come out
immediately to prevent cool airfrom coming out at the beginning.
• If the refrigerant pipe is too long, the cooling and heating efficiencies

entering from outside,ventilatethe room properly.
• If both indoortemperature and indoorhumidityare high, operatethe air
conditionerin the Clean orFan mode for1 to 2 hours.

time, cleanthe indoorunit and then operate the airconditionerin the
Fan modefor3 to 4 hours to drythe inside of the indoorunit forremoval
of unpleasant odours.

• Inwinter, if the indoorhumidity is high, steam may be produced around
the airoutletwhilethe defrostfunction is running. This is a normal

Step1 Installingtheindoorunit
When deciding on the location of the airconditionerthe
following restrictions must be taken into account.
1 Place the pattern sheet onthe ceiling at the spot
whereyouwant to install the indoorunit.
NOTE
• Since the diagram is made of paper, it mayshrink
orstretch slightly due to temperature orhumidity.
Forthis reason, before drilling the holes, be sure
to maintain the correct dimensions between the
markings.
2 Insert bolt anchors, use existing ceiling supports or
construct a suitable support as shown in figure.

3 Install the suspension bolts, depending on the ceiling
type.
Ceiling support
CAUTION
• Make sure that the ceiling is strong enough to support
theweight of the indoorunit. Before hangingthe unit,
test the strength of each attached suspension bolt.
• If the length ofthe suspension bolt is more than1.5 m,
you are required to prevent vibration.
4 Screweight pairs of nuts andwashers to the
suspension bolts, making space forhanging the indoor
unit.
CAUTION
• You must install all of the suspension rods.
• It is important to leave sufficient space in thefalse
ceiling to allow access formaintenance orrepairs to
the drainage pipe connection,the refrigerant pipe
connection, orto remove the unit if necessary.
5 Hang the indoorunit to the suspension bolts between
two nuts. Cut a pad stopperand place it on the
suspension bolts to hold thewasher. Remove the
stopperand screwthe nuts to fix the unit.
6 Check the level of the indoorunit by using a leveler.
• Atilt of the indoorunit may cause malfunction of a
built-in float switch andwaterleaks.
