compliance and general purpose product identification labels and tags. Stock rooms

CG4 offers the best price-feature value desktop printing solution in the compact printer
class.
With its 32-bit RISC CPU, 4 ips print speed, and 4MB Flash/8MB SDRAM Memory as well as
optional accessories, the versatile CG4 is equipped to meet the requirements for a wide range
of printing applications.
The new product development process has focused on optimizing product design and
manufacturing to deliver a printer that solves the customers’ printing needs better than any
other and provides rapid and measurable return on investment.

Space-saving Footprint
The printer’s small footprint saves precious counter space and is designed to fit in tight
spaces.
Standalone Printing
No PC required at time of printing
The CG4 with SATO Keypad* can be operated as a standalone printing system without the
need for a PC at the time of printing. Using the keypad label design software provided, label
formats can be created and then downloaded into the keypad internal Flash ROM memory or
on an SD card. At the time of printing, the operator can enter variable data using the
alphanumeric keypad or external PC Keyboard., or capture date through a barcode scanner
The pre-stored label is called on later when required and print data is sent to the CG4 for
printing.

High Quality Printing
The CG4 series is available in 203 dpi or 305 dpi resolution. 305 dpi will be required to print
text and barcodes, including 2D barcodes, on very small labels, such as those commonly
used in the electronics or pharmaceutical industries for component or specimen labelling.
Scanning and reading data is made easier by the sharp, crisp print quality. For applications
requiring a great deal of information in a small space, higher density printing is recommended.
The CG4 is an ideal printing solution to support the latest 2D barcode symbologies, including
GS1 DataBar (formerly Reduced Space Symbology (RSS)).
Flexible Connectivity
CG4 offers 3 combinations of communication interface options as standard: RS232C and
USB; LAN and USB; or USB and IEEE 1284 interface on-board. The CG4 delivers advanced,
secure connectivity making it easy to integrate with existing systems.
User-friendly Operation & Maintenance
Media loading: drop-load-ready
The clam shell design makes it easy to load media by simply “dropping in” the labels. The
simple label mechanism design allows even an inexperienced user to load in labels. Ribbon
loading is just as easy; it takes seconds, with the high-lift printhead giving easy access to load
the ribbon. Colour-coded user instructions make it intuitive to load labels and ribbons.

Printer Maintenance: tool-less, hassle-free
The one-touch, tool-less print head release mechanism enables the print head to be quickly,
easily replaced.
Printer Platen Roller can be replaced without the need for any tools.
Competitive Printer Language Compatibility
Multiple printer language options enables replacement of competitive printer models with
minimal reprogramming of data streams.
Large Printer Memory
The CG4 Printer has a large memory of 4MB Flash ROM and 8 MB SD-RAM that allow the
storage of extra graphics or fonts and firmware upgrades.
Safe for use in clean environments
The CG4 is designed for use in environments where cleanliness and hygiene are important
and a high level of safety vital.
The printer’s anti-microbial casing is manufactured using an inorganic antimicrobial material.
This material has been shown to have an antimicrobial effect against a wide spectrum of
bacteria, fungi and other micro organisms. It has silver and other ions with antimicrobial power
bonded into its mineral structure and stabilized. They are seldom eluted out with water or
solvent, so the antimicrobial effect can last a long time. Its life span and thermal stability
makes it an important composition material in products used in clean environments.
Labelling in sterile environments such as medical labs, food preparation and kitchen areas,
cosmetic and pharmaceutical processing plant can benefit from the protection of the
anti-microbial material.

Press POWER button to power on or off.
FEED/LINE button: press this button to select
printer status (online or offline) or to feed paper.
ON LINE (POWER) LED status light: green LED
light illuminates when the printer is online, i.e.
ready to print. Green light blinks when printer is
offline. Red indicates error.
Operation Panelo
The ERROR LED lights or blinks red when an error
is detected in the printer.
Large, simple-to-operate control buttons for easy printer
configuration and device status indications for easy
monitoring.
Response on ERROR indicator in conjunction with the
ON LINE (POWER) indicator can be used visually to
guide switching to various printer modes.
Clamshell Design
The clamshell design allows the top cover to be
raised open upwards.
The cover stays open resting on the safety latch.
The safety latch locks the printer top cover open
when top cover is raised more than 450 upwards.
The clamshell design offers operator easy access to all
controls, providing faster ribbon replacements and easier
paper loading to the media area inside of the printer.
The safety latch prevents top cover from accidentally
closing and injuring the operator’s hand

Paper or Label Holder Allows loading of paper, including adjusting of
width of paper holder to match paper size.

The ribbon unit serves to load the ribbon and
wind up the used ribbon.
Pull the lever on the middle of the ribbon unit
toward you to pull out the ribbon unit.

Ribbon Unit
The placement of the ribbon under the cover does
not interfere with the printer controls. It gives the
operator wider access to the inside of the printer.
