Warranty Note
Most common problems
Apart from incorrect installation, the most common causes of problems with an incineration toilet
are handling errors. Note the following:
1. Always use a bag
2. Always start a incineration program after each visit. Even if you ”just” peed
3. Never leave the bag with contents for more than 20 min before ushing (the bag starts to leak)
4. Act on service messages immediately:
a) Emty the ashtray
b) Run the cleaning programs
Urine contains large amounts of salt crystals that are harmful to your Separett toilet. Therefore, it is
incredibly important that everyone who uses the toilet follows the user instructions.

This product has a 3 year warranty for manufacturing and/or material defects.
However, this warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear, incorrect use or maintenance,
or if the customer has damaged or altered the product in some way. If you have any questions
regarding spare parts or warranty, please contact your local reseller.
After a period of use, some parts may need to be replaced in your toilet, this is not covered by
the warranty. Therefore, pay particular attention to and follow the user instructions and cleaning

Important safety instructions

Safety
This product can be used by children and people with impaired physical, sensory or
mental capacity, as well as people with a lack of experience and knowledge of the
product, pro-vided that they are monitored or instructed on how to use the product
safely and understand the risks that are associated with improper use.
Toilet packaging and packing materials are not toys. Keep packing material out of
reach for children and dispose of it properly.
WARNING!
Do not use the toilet if it is damaged or not working properly.
Function
The toilets power must be switched on during the entire time that the toilet is connec-
ted to the ventilation pipe. The fan then prevents moisture from entering the toilet, as
well as preventing frostbite. If the power gets turned o, the toilet must be disconnec-
ted from the exhaust pipe. The pipe must then be plugged, to prevent moisture from
entering the space where the toilet is located.
Avoid re risk and burns
The toilet must only be used in accordance with the user manual. Materials not
associated with normal toilet use should not be thrown in the toilet. Ensure that all
new users of the toilet receive required information on how to use the toilet safely.
The toilet is not adapted for standing or climbing on. Young children or children who
cannot safely use the toilet in accordance with this manual should only use the toilet
under adult supervision. Do not allow children to play with this product.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is important to ensure that the toilet functions properly. Always
check the messages from the display and follow the recomendations in the user
manual.
Avoid electric shocks
Remember to always turn o the power switch and pull out the plug before carrying
out any operation in the toilet.
Never use a damaged power cord or plug, and never run the cord over hot surfaces
or hard sharp edges.
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or by a professional to avoid danger.
Other
This product is intended for household use only or for a limited number of people
with good knowledge of its proper use. We advise against placing incinerating toilets
in public restrooms.
Do not make any changes to the product that will change its specications.
Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) contains materials, components and sub-
stances that may be hazardous and present a risk to human health and the environ-
ment. Hence, this EEE-product shall not be discarded together with household waste
but must be collected separately. Please contact your local municipality for informa-
tion on authorized collection points in your area.

Panel Incinerating process
Family is equipped with an easy to use panel. The panel let you navigate the menu in an easy way
and to start either of the incinerating programs. The panel’s buttons and their main purpose are
described below.
NOTE! For each button’s specic function at a given time, read the instruction section for each function.
Choose your language
The user has the opportunity to choose between dierent languages for the display. The rst time
you start up your new toilet you will be asked to choose your language.

To use Family, a bag is placed in the trapdoor under the toilet lid. When the visit is nished, the
toilet is ushed by pressing down on the ush handle. Next, a small incinerating program for urine
or a large program for solid waste (and urine) is selected. Even when the incinerating program
is running, you can use the toilet. For the toilet to function optimally, it is important to use and
always start the correct program after each visit.
A incinerating program consists of three parts:
HEATING UP
The temperature in the chamber goes from room temperature to 550 degrees. During heating, a
large part of the liquid evaporates. The heating up phase takes between about 30 to 60 minutes.
The time depends on the temperature in the room and how much liquid is in the ashtray. Times
listed are valid for one visit. The time can be extended if several visits to the toilet are incinerated
right after each other.
INCINERATION
When the toilet has reached 550 degrees, the incinerating starts and the temperature is then kept
around 550 degrees during the incinerating phase. The time on the programs refers to the time
the toilet must be in the incinerating phase. The default setting for the toilet is set to 15 minutes
for SMALL and 40 minutes for BIG.
COOLING DOWN
When the incineration is complete, the toilet enters the cooling phase. The element turns o and
only the fan is on. The fan cools down the toilet until it is 100 degrees in the incinerating chamber.
After this, the degrees are gradually lowered to room temperature
Incinerating process according to default setting
The fan purpose in the toilet
1. When the toilet is in standby, the fan runs at low power (0.13kWh/24H), which leads to
moisture being vented out of the toilet and preventing cold air from the pipe
2. When a incinerating program is running, the fan draws air through the combustion chamber.
Thanks to this, incinerating is oxygenated and smoke and hot air are taken out of the toilet
through the pipe
NOTE! As long as the toilet is attached to the ventilation pipe the power should be turned on. When the fan spins, it
prevents moist air from getting into the toilet. If the power is turned o the toilet should be pulled out from the pipe and
the pipe plugged to prevent moist air from getting in to the room.

Installation
Family must be installed correctly both to get good incineration and function and for the warranty
to apply. There are rules for installation both indoors and outdoors. Follow the installation instruc-
tions carefully.
Family must be used correctly for it to work without any worries. Only bags of the type you recei-
ved with the toilet should be used and only urine, solid waste and toilet paper may be incinerated.
In order for the toilet to undergo a complete incineration, it is important to start the incinerating
after each visit and check that the bag has fallen down. Remember to use the correct burning
program after each visit. Follow the instructions for visiting the toilet carefully.
Remember to always turn o the power switch and pull out the plug before you perform any
operation in the toilet.

In order for the airow to be optimal, the included 90 degree long bend and ventilation cowl
included must be installed. The cowl is mounted by passing it approx. 4 cm over the ventilation
pipe, until the edge on the inside receives it. The warranty does not apply when using another
long bend or ventilation cowl.
The gaskets are placed on the connection on the back of the toilet. Their purpose is to t tightly
between the toilet and ventilation pipe to prevent air and odors should come out in the space
where the toilet is located.
Installation of ventilation
Keep in mind that no other ventilation systems such as fans or similar may be used in the space
where the toilet is installed. This is to ensure full functionality.
It is advisable to use a spirit-level to ensure that ventilation and the substrate are straight and not
to risk that the toilet is not stable.
Only one 90 degree bend and two 45 degree bends may be used.
Dierent options for installation
Remember to always follow instructions and recommendations for installation.
To prevent the outgoing air from coming back into the space where the toilet is placed, the distan-
ce between the air intake (fresh air valve) and the ventilation outlet (ventilation cowl) should be at
the minimum 3-4 meters. If the distance between intake air and ventilation outlet is less than 3-4
meters, the condensation hose in the 90 degree bend should be tted before use. We recom-
mend one of the following three options for installation.
Option 1
Internal installation through the roof.
A. Use the connecting pipe (100 mm) between the toilet and the 90 degree bend
B. Total lenght from the 90 degree bend - maximum 5 meters
C. Maximum 500 mm above the roof
D. Attach the supplied hose on the drain tap on the 90 degree bend to divert condensation
Fresh air vent is placed on an outer wall, min Ø 125 mm.
NOTE! Only Ø 110 mm ventilation pipe made of plastic, two 45 degree bend and one 90 degree bend
may be used in the installation. When installing a 90 degree bend tube directly behind the toilet, 30 cm
space is required for installation behind the toilet.

Safety
NOTE! Remember to turn o the power switch and unplug the toilet before you perform any operation.
Family is a toilet with several independent safety systems that counteract overheating. If the toilet
becomes too hot the current is automatically turned o. There are two dierent temperature gau-
ges that monitors the power, three fuses that protect against overloading in the electrical circuit
and an overheating protection that responds to the temperature.
When changing the battery fuse
The fuse for the battery is positioned on the back.
1. Turn o the power switch
2. Plug out the power cord
3. Use the screwdriver supplied in order to undo the fuse holder
4. Pull the holder out
5. Change the fuse
Temperature sensors
For safety and function there are several dierent gauges that monitors the temperature.
1. The ventilation temperature is measuring the temperature of the airow generated by the fan
2. A thermo sensor inside the incineration chamber monitors the heat and regulates it like a
thermostat
Overheat protection
Inside the toilet there is a resettable overheating protector. If the overheating protection is trigge-
red, check the following:
1. The bag doesn’t fall down completely and is caught by the incineration chamber lid
2. There is an obstruction in the ventilation pipe
3. The toilet is incorrectly installed
4. The resistance in the ventilation pipe is too high
5. There is a malfunction in the ushing mechanism
Always try to nd the cause of the overheating protection triggered. if none of the above was the
cause of triggering the overheat protection, contact your reseller.
Over-load protection
Protect against changes in power, so-called voltage peaks. Works completely automatically.
Battery operation
The battery is a 12 V battery which is charged continuously. The battery becomes operational
automatically if the power supply no longer works.
Battery operation ensures that cooling, display and fan operate even in the event of a power
failure.
Ashpan
The bags in which the waste is gathered in incinerated in the ashpan. The bag falls down when the
ush handle is pushed down.
Lid to the incineration chamber
When you press down the ush handle, the lid to the incinerating chamber opens so that the bag
can fall down into the ashpan. When the ush handle moves up again the lid is closed and keeps
the heat inside the incinerating chamber.

Using the toilet
As long as the toilet is attached to the ventilation pipe the power should be turned on. When the
fan spins, it prevents moist air from getting into the toilet. If the power is turned o, remember:
1. The toilet should be pulled out from the pipe
2. The pipe should be plugged to prevent cold and moist air from getting in to the room

Emtying the ashpan
The toilet has a default setting that reminds you to empty your ashpan after 50 ushes. When this
is needed, the message ”ashpan emptied?” is shown on the display, press YES or NO. If you have
not emptied the ash and answer NO, you can still use the toilet, but the message will appear again
the next time you use it, until the ash is emptied and the user answers YES.
NOTE! Not emptying the ashpan in time can seriously reduce the eciency of the incineration and in the
worst case cause damage to the toilet, e.g. the element.
In order to emty the ashpan, do the following:
1. Remove the front plate
2. Turn the handle to the middle
3. Pull out the ashpan
4. Emty into the trash or the ower bed (the ash is completely free from bacteria)
5. Push the ashpan back in and turn the handle to the right until it stop
6. Put the front plate back
It is important to push the ashpan all the way in, keep holdning it in all the way while turning it all
the way to the right. If this is not done, there may be a gap between the ashpan and the incinera-
tion chamber, which means that the toilet does not reach full heat.
Cleaning & maintenance
Clean the toilet both on the outside and inside with a slightly damp or well wrung cloth with a little
cleaning liquid. Do not rinse the toilet, either on the outside or inside, with water. The incineration
chamber and circuit board may be damaged.
Clean the toilet bowl as required. Use a slightly damp cloth and preferably treat it afterwards with
stainless steel cleaner. It creates a slippery surface that is dirt repellent.
Cleaning the ashpan should be done after emptying it twice, a message will appear to remind you on
the display when it’s time. The cleaning is done in order to remove the crystals that are formed when
urine has been evaporated by the incineration. Do the following:
1. Take the ashpan out and empty it
2. Pour 1L of water into the ashpan
3. Place the ashpan back into the toilet
4. Run a BIG program
The ventilation pipe should be cleaned after 200 ushes. The display will give you a message when
this should be done. The ventilation pipe is easy to clean with the steel brush supplied with the
toilet. To ensure that you brush suciently in the pipe you should press and turn the brush into
the pipe until the handle is almost at its opening. Vacuum any sot or dust from the pipe.
Cleaning the ventilation pipes is easily done with an ordinary toilet brush once a year. Brush as far
as you can reach.
After 1000 incinerating hours, your toilet will recommend that you perform maintenance. During
maintenance wear parts such as the heating element is replaced, and the catalyst is also cleaned.
This maintenance operation is a recommendation, and it will increase the life span of your toilet.

Storage
If you are going to be away from the toilet for a long time or close your holiday home for the win-
ter, you should consider the following to avoid frostbite:
1. Turn o the power switch and unplug the cord
2. Separate the toilet from the ventilation pipe
3. Plug the ventilation pipe/chimney (use either cover plug for 110 mm, art. no 1268, or similar
object)
4. The battery on should not be left without being charged for more than 12 months (we
recommend that you maintenance-charge your battery every six months for long-term
storage. Plug in the toilet and keep it running for about 8 hours.
As with all electronics the incinerating toilet is sensitive to thunderstorms. Preferably turn o the
switch and unplug the power cord if there is a risk of lightning strike.
Display
During ongoing program
When a program has been selected, the display tells you which program has been started. Next
it shows you in which phase of the program the toilet is currently in. The phases are HEATING,
BURNING and COOLING.
If someone uses the toilet while a program is running, more time will be added to the BURNING
phase. This is done automaticly when choosing a BIG or SMALL program after each use. The
display lets you know how much time that has been added.
If you wish to see the total time that the toilet will stay in the BURNING phase, you simply push the
circle button. You will then see the value TIME, together with OVEN.TEMP that shows the tempera-
ture in the chamber and VENT.TEMP that shows the temperature of the air that ows through the
ventilation pipes..
NOTE! Although the toilet is running when you ush down a new bag, you have to choose/start a new
program!
User menu
Family is equipped with a user menu through which you have the opportunity to do adaptations
such as incinerating time, language, and emptying time for ashpan. These setting options is there
for you to be able to change after your needs.
To access the menu from the main screen, press the left arrow. When you are in the menu, go
through the options with the right and left arrow, to make a selection, press the circle (see the
chapter: PANEL)
To exit the menu, scroll to EXIT MENU and press circle to conrm.
Menu options
In the user menu, you can make the following adjustments to the toilet:
ADJUST SMALL (only urine)
You are able to change how long the toilet will stay in the INCINERATION phase when the SMALL
program is chosen. The default value for SMALL is 15 minutes, this can be altered +-10 minutes.
Increase or decrease the time by using the arrows and conrm with the circle button.
ADJUST BIG (only solid waste or both solid and urine waste)
You are able to change how long the toilet will stay in the INCINERATION phase when the BIG pro-
gram is chosen. The default value for BIG is 40 minutes, this can be altered +-20 minutes. Increase
or decrease the time by using the arrows and conrm with the circle button.

When an error occurs in the toilet you will receive a message on the display. Below are some
examples of error codes that may come up and what you should go to correct them. A more
detailed list and information can be found at www.separett.com
Fan stopped / The fan does not start
1. Check to see that nothing has got caught up in the fan
2. Check through the exhaust air outlet on the back of the toilet that the fan blades rotate freely
3. Try cleaning the fan with the brush
Incineration time maximized
The incineration has been going for more than six hours since the last program selection. Restart
the toilet by turning o the power switch and then turning it on again.
No power / No main power
1. Check that the power cord is in the wall socket and that the switch have been turned on
2. Check that there is power at the wall socket. Check fuses and residual-current circuit breaker
in
3. Check all three fuses on the circuit board. The best troubleshooting is to measure incoming
current and see how far it goes
4. Check that the switch and cords are undamaged and working
Temperature outlet air / The ventilation temperature is too high
1. Let the fan cool down the toilet
2. Check that the ash pan is in the correct position and that the handle has been turned to the
right
3. Check that the installation has been carried out correctly and that the ventilation is working
4. Check that the lid of the incineration chamber opens and closes as it should when the ush
handle is pressed down
Heating time up / The temperature in the incinirating chamber is not increasing
1. Check whether the overheating protection has been triggered
2. Check that the ash pan is in the correct position and that the handle has been turned to the
right
3. Restart the toilet by turning the switch o and then turning it on again
Overheat protect or element
The overheating protection has been triggered or the element needs to be replaced. See instruc-
tions at page 23.
Troubleshooting
LANGUAGE
Change the language used in the toilet. Conrm that you want to change the language with the
circle, then switch between dierent languages using the arrows. When you have found the right
language, conrm with circle.
ASHPAN EMTIED
If you choose to empty the ashpan before you get the reminder from the toilet you have the pos-
sibility to reset the counter, so that you stay in phase with the message.
Once you have emptied the ashpan, you go to “ASHPAN EMPTIED” and conrm it with the circle
button, you will then get the following question “ASHES EMTIED?”, conrm with YES or NO.
ASHPAN INTERVALL
After a specic number of uses the toilet will remind you to emty the ashpan. The default value is
that the message is shown after 50 ushes. Here you can adjust this number up or down.
NOTE! The message is only a reminder! It’s always the user’s responsibility to make sure to empty
the ashpan before it is full.
DEFAULT SETTINGS
If you wish to reset the following values you do it under default settings:
– ASHPAN INTERVALL (50)
– ADJUST BIG (40)
– ADJUST SMALL (15)
CLOSE MENU
Press circle to close the menu.
Info
If you press INFO when in the ready-mode, you will be able to see the following values:
• PROG. - shows you which software that is installed in the toilet
• TOTAL TIME - shows you the number of hours that the current heating element in your toilet
has been running.
• FLUSH.LEFT - shows you how many ushes that is left before the reminder for emptying the
ashpan is shown on the display

gäller 1 års garanti.
Garantin omfattar produktionsfel och fel på komponenter vid normal användning. Den omfattar
inte fel på grund av:
Felaktig installation / normalt slitage / felaktig användning / felaktig hantering / transportskador /
blixtnedslag / användning av annat än Separett’s originalpåsar / användning av annat än
Separett’s reservdelar / kunden har orsakat skada eller ingrepp i produkten / skador som orsa-
kats av olyckor (brand, översvämning, blixtnedslag) / följdskador täcks inte av denna garanti

Vanligaste orsakerna till problem
Vanligaste orsakerna till problem med en förbränningstoalett är förutom felaktig installation –
handhavande fel. Observera följande:
1. Påse måste användas vid varje toalettbesök
2. Förbränningsprogram måste startas efter varje besök. Även om man ”bara” kissar på natten
3. Lämna aldrig påsen med innehåll mer än 20 min innan nedspolning (påsen börjar läcka)
4. Agera på servicemeddelanden omedelbart:
a) Töm asklådan
b) Kör rengöringsprogrammen
Urin innehåller mängder av saltkristaller som är skadliga för din toalett. Därför är det otroligt viktigt
att alla som använder toaletten följer användaranvisningarna.

Installation / garanti
För att garantin ska gälla måste toaletten vara korrekt installerad. Installationen är avgörande för
toalettens välbennande och livslängd. Följ vår installationsmanual och har ni frågor kontakta
Separett.
Garantireparation ska alltid genomföras hos en auktoriserad Separett servicepartner. Detta för att
säkerställa kvalité och testning av varan efter reparationen. Om reparation trots detta behövs göras
på plats där toaletten är installerat bekostar Separett endast material och arbetstid för service, ej
resa och arbetstid för testning.

Om du har problem med din produkt och har garanti kvar registrerar du en felanmälan på vår
hemsida alternativt kontaktar butiken du köpt produkten i. Har du ingen garanti kvar så kan du
skicka reparationsförfrågan till närmaste Separett servicepartner/butik du köpt produkten i.
