The weighing device SBT WD2005 by SIEMENS indicates the loss of a critical mass of extinguishant from the
cylinders.
The weighing device set consists of weighing device plus counterweight depending of the cylinder volume.
S54476-S45-A1 = S54476-B45-A1 + S54476-B52-A4 (counterweight 1.5 kg for 67 L)
S54476-S45-A2 = S54476-B45-A1 + S54476-B52-A5 (counterweight 2.0 kg for 80 L)
If the weighing device is to be used outdoors, it must be protected against the ingress of water.

Operating Principle
The weighing device operates on the principle of an eccentric pivot.
An adjustable position balance weight mounted on the weight spindle enables the device to be set to indicate
the mass loss over a range of gross loads. If the cylinder weight and the balancing weight are equal, the
system is stable (balance weight is in the horizontal ‘set’ position). If the net weight reduces (due to leakage
from the cylinder) the balance weight drops downwards (balance weight moves to the inclined ‘tripped’
position). The weighing device is adjusted to indicate a loss of mass of 5% from the suspended cylinder.
The weighing device must be reset manually to resume its function.

Procedure
1. Place the trapeze nut into the suspension rail, feed the trapeze spindle of the weighing device through the
hole in the suspension rail and screw the slightly greased trapeze spindle into the trapeze nut until it appears
at the end of the nut.
2. Secure the two trapeze nuts at the lower end of the spindle to each other (counter).
3. Bring the two thread rods (M10) into the weighing device and secure them flush in the 2 hut nuts.
4. Screw the neck ring onto the cylinder, orientating the slots with respect to the cylinder valve (in line with the
burst disc port) and locate the threaded rods of the weighing device into the slots on the neck ring
5. Turn the lower counter nut anti-clockwise. The cylinder is lifted up. Continue to turn it until the cylinder hangs
at least 2 cm above the floor. The cylinder can lifted up so high, that it is possible to place periodically a
external weighing device to check the filling quantity. It is also possible to lift up the cylinders with the CO2
weighing device tool S54476-B157-A15 with on site portable electrical drill with wrench AF/ SW30.
6. Align the weighing device trip mechanism and weight spindle so that they are parallel to the suspension rail.
7. Adjust the height of the cylinders so that the valve outlet ports are all at the same height.
8. Open the two counter nuts from each other and secure them at the lower and upper end of the trapeze
spindle to prevent the weighing device from being rotated
9. Remove the Tommy bar. The device with the fixed cylinder is now ready to adjust.
10. Replace of cylinder f.e. after a release same procedure in opposite way

The weighing device is supplied with a bracket and trip plate fitted.
There is type of remote indication switch (optional).

Procedure
1. Screw the Balance weight(s) specifed in the table above onto the weight spindle.
The weight spindle moves to the ‘tripped’ position (pos. 3). Trick: At start turning weight lift spindle manually to
horizontal until selfhoding noticeable.
2. Holding the weight spindle in the ‘set’ position, rotate the Balance weight(s) on the weight spindle, until the
weight spindle remains in the balanced position (pos. 2).
3. From this position, rotate the Balance weight(s) clockwise by the number of turns specified in the table for the
size and fill weight of the cylinder. Fit a nut to the weight spindle and tighten onto the weight(s) to secure in
position. Option: check with a “butcher spring balance” range 0-5kg.
The weighing device moves from a balanced to a stable position (pos. 1).

4. Thread a lock wire through the hole in the trip mechanism adjacent to the weight spindle and through the hole
of the nearest Balance weight.
5. Twist and seal the ends of the lock wire

Warning!
Only readjust the balance weights each time the cylinder is removed from the weighing device for refill or
when it cannot be guaranteed that a filled cylinder will be refitted to its original weighing device.
Do not adjust the position of the balance weights during routine servicing or due to the weighing device
having tripped.
The following checks shall be carried out on the weighing device at least annually:
Mechanical operation:
·Ensure that the movement of the weight spindle is smooth with no evidence of any sticking throughout the
movement of the weight spindle. Any weighing device where sticking of the trip mechanism is evident shall be
replaced.
·Ensure all lock nuts are tight.
·The correct setting of the weighing device can be verified using a flat bar (300mm to 500mm length) and small
pivot (25mm - 50mm section steel angle or diameter round bar). Place the flat bar onto the ground so that one
end of the bar is approximately 50mm under the base of the cylinder. Place the pivot under the middle of the
flat bar and place a weight equal to 5% of the weight of the contents of the cylinder on the other end of the flat
bar. The weighing device should trip if set up correctly. Reset and relock the weight as required.
Visual inspection:
·Inspect the weighing device for excessive oxidation, clean as necessary.
·Check that the weight securing wire is still in place and sealed, if missing verify the correct setting of the
weighing device in accordance with the procedure above.
·If required correct the alignment of the weighing device in the rack.
