2.1 Area of application
The expansion module has been designed for use in combination with the 7KM PAC devices
PAC3200 and PAC4200. The guidelines for the 7KM PAC devices also apply to the
expansion modules.
2.2 Performance features of the I(N), I(Diff), analog module
The expansion module I(N), I(Diff), analog increases the scope of measuring functions of the
PAC3200 / PAC4200 devices.
Overview:
● Plug-in expansion module for the SENTRON PAC3200 and PAC4200 measuring devices
● Measurement of N (neutral) conductor current through external current transformer
● Measurement of residual current and PE conductor current through external summation
current transformer
● Measurement of physical quantities with external 0 / 4 ... 20 mA transmitter
● Display of measured values directly on screen of PAC measuring device
● Status display via LED

3.1 Warning

Using devices when they are damaged may result in death, serious injury, or property
damage!
Do not install or start up damaged devices.
3.2 Installation location
The expansion module is inserted in the slot labeled "MOD1" or "MOD2" on the rear panel of
the PAC3200 / PAC4200.
NOTICE
Sudden temperature fluctuations
Condensation can cause the device to malfunction.
Store the device in the operating room for at least two hours before commencing
installation.
3.3 Installation steps
Install the expansion module before staring up the SENTRON device.
NOTICE
Impairment and endangering of operation
Damaged components can impair and endanger operation.
Never put components into operation if they are damaged.

CAUTION
Electrostatic discharge
The expansion modules contain electronic components that can be irreparably damaged by
electrostatic discharge.
When handling modules, make sure that all objects in the handling environment (persons,
workstation and packaging) are properly grounded. Do not touch the module contacts.
NOTICE
Overheating of the device
If the ventilation slots are covered, the expansion module can overheat.
Make sure that the ventilation slots are not covered.

WARNING
Some of the following tasks are carried out when hazardous voltage is present. For this
reason, they must only be carried out by qualified personnel who are familiar with and
follow the safety regulations and precautions.
Wear the prescribed protective clothing. Observe the general equipment regulations and
safety regulations for working on high-voltage installations (e.g. DIN VDE, NFPA 70E as
well as national or international regulations).
The limits given in the technical data must not be exceeded even during commissioning or
testing.
The secondary connections of intermediate current transformers must be short-circuited at
the transformers before the power supply lines to the device are interrupted.
The polarity and phase assignment of the instrument transformers must be tested. Before
connecting the device, you must check whether the system voltage matches the voltage
specified on the type plate.
Check that all connections are correctly made before startup.
Before power is applied to the device for the first time, it must have been located in the
operating area for at least two hours in order to reach temperature balance and avoid
humidity and condensation.
Condensation on the device is not permissible during operation.

Example connections
Several example connections for the expansion module I(N), I(Diff), analog can be found
below.
The device can be connected for current measurement and/or use of the analog inputs I5 / I6
or a combination of both. The module must be individually configured to meet the
requirements of the application.

IN input:
A suitable current transformer must be used to measure the N-conductor current. The
appropriate current transformer ratio must be set on the device.
I5 input:
A suitable summation current transformer must be used to measure the residual current. The
device input must be configured accordingly.
