Navigator child car seat to transport your child.
It is of great concern that research continues
to tell us how many child car seats are still
incorrectly fitted. Please read carefully and
fully understand the whole of this instruction
guide before using your Navigator. Failure to do
so could put your child in danger.

Important:Safety Guide
* Do not use the Navigator on a
passenger seat fitted with a front airbag
unless your vehicle manufacturer confirms
it is safe
IMPORTANT:the Navigator must never
be used without the seat back attached
to the seat base
Do not fit the Navigator on a side or rear
facing vehicle seat.
Make sure when using the Navigator with
side airbags,your child does not lean into
the area immediately around the airbag.We
recommend that you consult with your vehicle
manufacturer for side airbag details.
Please read the whole instruction guide
carefully and make sure you fully
understand how to install and use the
Navigator correctly.
Always keep the instruction guide with the
Navigator in a safe place. An instruction guide
holder is provided on the back of the Navigator.
It is safer to use the Navigator on the rear seat
of the car.
Do not use the Navigator in the home it has
only been designed to be used in the car.
Do not place anything such as a towel
or cushion under the Navigator as this
could affect the performance of the seat
in an accident.
Never buy a second hand child car seat.
Always replace the Navigator and your vehicles
seat belts after an accident, they may have
unseen damage and may not protect your child
as well as they should.
All occupants in the vehicle must be
correctly restrained.
When not in use in the car always secure the
Navigator by the vehicle seat belt.
Always secure loose items in the car
when travelling.
Cover the Navigator if it is left in direct sun
light, plastic and metal surfaces get very hot
and could burn.The seat cover is also likely
to fade.
The lap and diagonal seat belt must be used
at all times when your child is in the Navigator.
Check the seat belt is not twisted.
Do not make unauthorised modifications
or alterations to the Navigator.The official
approval is no longer valid if modifications
are made.
The Navigator must never be used without
the seat cover being correctly fitted.If you
replace the cover,only use one recommended
by the manufacturer.
Do not allow children to play with or adjust
the Navigator.Do not leave children alone
in the car.
Never leave a child unattended in the
Navigator either in or outside the car.
Make sure that all folding vehicle seats are
securely latched.
Make sure your Navigator does not become
trapped in the door of the vehicle or by a
folding passenger seat.
Avoid storing the Navigator near a direct heat
source such as a radiator.
Do not place heavy objects on top of
the Navigator.
Always store the Navigator in a
dry environment.
Check your Navigator regularly for wear
and tear.

responsible for damage or marking to

use in the car
Assemble the Navigator
1The Navigator seat base and seat back
need to be fastened together.
Position the seat back (A) into the channel
at the back of the seat base. Carefully push
the seat back down making sure the red
plastic housing on the seat back locates
correctly onto the metal frame attached to
the seat base (B) and,the two sprung
buttons click into their positions at the
sides of the fixing channel.
2The metal frame on the seat base must
locate correctly into the red plastic housing
on the seat back.
IMPORTANT:The Navigator must never
be used without the seat back being
attached to the seat base.

How to use the Navigator
The Navigator must always be fitted
forward facing.
IMPORTANT:The Navigator must never
be used without the seat back attached
to the seat base.
In the United Kingdom the Navigator can be
used on the vehicles front* (see page 3) or rear
seat. Do not use on side or rearward facing
vehicle seats.
The Navigator can be used from 15kgs (33lbs)
to 36kgs (79lbs),about 4 –11 years using a
3 point lap and diagonal seat belt approved to
UN/ECE regulation no.16 or equivalent
standards.

Adjusting the angle of the
Navigator back rest
6You can adjust the angle of the Navigator
back rest to help provide your child with
the most comfortable sitting position as
long as the seat back and seat base fit
snugly into the shape of the vehicle seat.
The seat back and seat base must make
good contact with the vehicle seat for
maximum support and stability.
6a To adjust the angle of the Navigator seat
back,hold the adjuster wheel (A) and turn
the inner mode selector (B) in a clockwise
direction and then turn the adjuster wheel
in the desired direction.

Adjusting the headrest
3Before you use the Navigator in your
vehicle it is important that the
Navigator headrest is in the correct
position for the height of your child.
Your child’s head should be positioned
centrally in the headrest with the upper
red seat belt guide positioned just above
your child’s shoulder.The seat
belt should lie over the shoulder and
not against the neck.
4To adjust the height of the Navigator
headrest, locate the headrest adjuster
trigger which is positioned underneath the
top of the headrest handle.
5Holding the handle,squeeze the headrest
adjuster trigger and move the headrest into
the desired position making sure it clicks
into place.There are 5 positions.

Using the Navigator in the car
IMPORTANT:Only use the Navigator
from 15kg (33lbs) to 36kg (79lbs).
Your child must not exceed 1.5 metres
(approx.4ft 11ins) in height.
Only use the Navigator with a 3 point
lap and diagonal seat belt.
Only use the Navigator with the seat
back attached.
Make sure the head rest has been adjusted
to fit your child correctly (see diagram 3,
page 6).
Installing the Navigator
using the 3 point lap &
diagonal seat belt
8Position the Navigator forward facing onto
the vehicle seat, making sure it fits snugly
into the shape of the vehicle seat.The seat
base and seat back must make good
contact with the vehicle seat for maximum
support and stability.
9Place your child in the Navigator.
Carefully pull the lap and diagonal seat belt
out and fasten it across the Navigator and
your child making sure the seat belt is not
twisted.Thread the lap section of the seat
belt under both armrests on the booster
seat making sure the belt is positioned
across your child’s thighs,not stomach.
Make sure the seat belt not the seat belt
buckle (see seat belt buckle position page
9) rests on the lower red seat belt guide
on the side of the seat base.Pull the
diagonal belt to remove any slack from the
lap section and then pass it under the
arm rest next to the seat belt buckle.Slide
the diagonal section of the seat belt into
the red upper seat belt guide on the
opposite side to the seat belt buckle.Make
sure the red upper seat belt guide is
positioned correctly with the diagonal
section of the belt lying over your child’s
shoulder and not against the neck (9).
Remove any remaining seat belt slack by
gently pulling the diagonal belt section.
No child car seat is escape proof.To help
encourage your child to stay restrained
in their child seat always make sure your child
seat is correctly adjusted for the size of
your child.

7You can adjust the length of the
Navigator seat base to adapt to the
length of your child’s legs as long as the
seat back and seat base fit snugly into the
shape of the vehicle seat.The seat back
and seat base must make good contact
with the vehicle seat for maximum support
and stability.
7a To adjust the Navigator seat base, hold the
adjuster wheel (A) and turn the inner mode
selector (B) in an anticlockwise direction
and then turn the adjuster wheel in the
desired direction.

Looking after the Navigator
Removing the seat covers
Seat Base
Remove the seat back from the seat base.
To remove the seat back,locate the plastic
release lever located behind and at the base
of the seat back. Press the release lever down
and detach the backrest. Unhook all the elastic
straps securing the seat cover to the base.
Carefully remove the cover from behind the
plastic housing of the mode selector.The seat
cover should now be detached from the seat
base.To remove the arm rest cover, unhook the
elastic straps and lift the two plastic retaining
strips over the edge of the seat shell.
Front panel
Unfasten the two Velcro straps positioned
behind and on each side of the front panel.
Carefully slide both sides of the front panel
out of the side channels located in the side
housings of the seat.This is made easier if you
slide the front panel evenly and the seat back
is removed from the seat base.
Headrest
Adjust headrest to the highest position.
Unfasten the 3 press studs at the back of the
headrest. Unhook the 2 elastic straps at the
top of the headrest.Remove the outer sides
of the cover from the Velcro attachments.Very
carefully remove the cover which is tucked
behind the polystyrene insert.The cover
should now be detached.
Back panel
Locate where the cover wraps round the top of
the tubular back frame and remove from the
Velcro attachment. Carefully slide each side
of the back panel from the channels located
in the back of the side housings. (This is made
easier if you slide the back panel evenly and
towards the top of the back rest)
Refitting the seat covers
Refit the covers by carefully reversing the
instruction in the section“Removing the seat
covers”. If you have detached the seat back to
remove the seat covers you must refit the seat
back before using the Navigator. (Refer to
Assemble the Navigator section)
IMPORTANT:Make sure you refit the
seat covers correctly they are an
important safety feature.Do not use the
Navigator without seat covers and only use
covers recommended by the manufacturer.
Do not put your child’s safety at risk.
Cleaning the seat covers
Hand wash only at a maximum of 30 degrees,
(See wash care labels on the back of the
Navigator seat covers).Do not iron,dry clean or
tumble dry. Dry flat, away from direct heat
and sunlight.
Cleaning the seat shell
Wipe clean using a mild soap and warm water.
You must not remove,dismantle or alter any
part of the seat shell.You must not oil or
lubricate any part of the seat shell.

Using the Navigator in the car
IMPORTANT:Make sure the diagonal
section of the seat belt runs freely
through the centre of the red upper seat belt
guide to ensure the seat belt will recoil
correctly.Do not install the Navigator into a
seat where the vehicle upper seat belt
anchorage point is either level or forward of
the Navigator’s red upper seat belt guide.
Seat belt buckle position
10 When you have fitted the Navigator it is
important to check the position of the seat
belt buckle. No part of the seat belt buckle
should rest on the red lower belt guide.
11 If any part of the seat belt buckle has been
pulled around the seat shell into the red
lower belt guide the seat is not suitable
and must not be used.Try another seating
position in the car.
Releasing your child from
the Navigator
To release your child from the Navigator,
carefully undo the seat belt.

workmanship.
Notice
1. This is a “Universal”child restraint. It is
approved to Regulation No. 44.04 series of
amendments,for general use in vehicles
and it will fit most, but not all, car seats.
2. A correct fit is likely if the vehicle
manufacturer has declared in the vehicle
handbook that the vehicle is capable of
accepting a “Universal” child restraint for
this age group.
3. This child restraint has been classified as
“Universal”under more stringent
conditions than those which applied to
earlier designs which do not carry
this notice.
4. If in doubt, consult either the child restraint
manufacturer or the retailer.
5. Only suitable if the approved vehicles
are fitted with 3 point/static/ with
retractor safety–belts,approved to
UN/ECE Regulation No 16 or other
equivalent standards.
