TheSimradPXMultiSensorwillnottakechargeat
temperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).Recommendedcharging
temperatureisbetween+5and+45°C(+41to+113°F).
Inordertoprovidealonglifetime,thebatteryusedinthe
SimradPXMultiSensorisaLi–Ionbattery.
TheSimradPXMultiSensorChargerisdesigned
especiallyforchargingthisbattery.Itmustonlybeused
tochargetheSimradPXMultiSensor.
Important
TheSimradPXMultiSensorChargermustonlybeused
tochargetheSimradPXMultiSensor.
CleaningthechargersocketsonthePX
MultiSensor
ThesocketsonthePXMultiSensorwillbelledwith
seawaterwhenthesensorisused.Thiswatermustbe
removedbeforethechargerplugisinserted.Allthe
socketsonthePXMultiSensormustbedriedandcleaned
beforechargingcantakeplace.
Important
ThePXMultiSensormustneverbechargedwhenitis
mountedinthedooradapteroronthetrawl.
1Usehighpressureair,anddirectthenozzleintoeach
ofthesockets.Blowoutwaterandmoisture.
2Useasmallbrushoracottonswab,andcleaneach
socketthoroughly.
3Wipeoffthesensorwithadrylintfreecloth.Pay
specialattentiontotheareaclosetothesensorsockets.
Charginginstructions
ObservethisproceduretochargethebatteryintheSimrad
PXMultiSensor.
1Makesurethattheambienttemperatureisbetween0
and+45°C(+32to+113°F).
Tip
Ifyoutrytochargethesensorinambienttemperatures
below0°C(32°F),aninternalsafetymechanismwill
preventthecharging.
2Verifythatthesensorsocketsarecleananddry,and
thatsaltresiduesandmoisturehavebeenremoved.
Important
Thisisimportant.Saltandmoistureinthesensor
socketswillincreasethetransitionresistance,andit
willcausethechargerplugstocorrode.

Chargingthesensorbattery
3Connectthe3–pinchargerplugtothesocketsatthe
endofthesensorbody.
4Connectthechargertoamainspoweroutlet(100to
230V ac).
5Observethatasmalllampclosetothesocketson
thesensorbodyislittoindicatethatthechargeris
correctlyconnected.
Verifythatthelampashesonceeveryfourseconds
toindicatethatthechargingisinprogress.
6Observethattheindicatorlamponthechargerislit
withanOrangecolour.
Thismeansthatfastchargingisinprogress.
Tip
Ifyouconnectthechargertoafullychargedsensor
theindicatorlamponthechargerwillbeOrangefor
ashortperiod,andthenchangetoGreen.Charging
isthennotrequired.
7Aftersometime,observethattheindicatorlampon
thechargerforashortperiodchangescolourtoYellow.
Thismeansthatthebatteryhasreachedalmostfull
charge.
8Observethattheindicatorlamponthecharger
changescolourtoGreen.
Thesensorbatteryisnowcharged,andtrickle
charginghasstarted.
Normalchargingtimeforafullydepletedsensoris
approximatelythreehours.
9UnplugthechargerfromtheACmains,then
disconnectthechargerplugfromthesensorbody.
Tip
Thebatterywillnotbedamagedevenifyouleavethe
chargerconnectedforalongperiodoftime.
10Observethesmallinstructionalbookletprovidedby
thechargermanufacturerformoreinformation.
Changingasingleplugonthecharger
connector
Observethisprocedureto
changeasingleplugon
theSimradPXMultiSensor
batterychargerconnector.
Threeextraplugsare
providedwiththeSimrad
PXMultiSensorCharger.If
additionalplugsarerequired,youcanorderthesefrom
Simrad.
1Makesurethatthechargerisdisconnectedfromthe
ACmainspower.
2Useaspanner,andunscrewtheplugfromthe
connector.
3Retrieveanewplug,andscrewitintothesocket.
Important
Donotuseexcessiveforce,maximumtorqueis
1.5Nm.Werecommendthatyoutighteneachplugby
handstoavoiddamage.
