40 INCH CARBON FIBER TABLE EXTENSION - INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The 40 Inch Carbon Fiber Table Extension is a table
accessory designed to improve imaging capabilities
with a lightweight material. This accessory works
with various Skytron tables and pads. The Skytron
tables that accomodate this table extension are:
• Model 3500 Series
• Model 3600 Series
• Model 6300 Series
• Model 6600 Series
• Model 6700 Series

Install the Table Extension on the Leg Section
1. Remove the pad set.
2. Remove the x-ray top from the table.
3. Adjust the height of the table top to a safe
and comfortable height required to remove the
leg section.
4. Simultaneously squeeze the two release
levers on the bottom of the leg section and pull
the leg section off the attaching pins.
WARNING
The leg section weighs approximately
20 pounds (9.07 kilograms). Safely
handle the leg section during
removal to prevent injury. The pads are not included with the purchase of the
40 Inch Carbon Fiber Table Extension.
5. Install the table extension on the attaching
pins.
6. Push the table extension until it rests against
the pin collar and clicks into place.
7. Pull on the table extension to verify it is
secure.
WARNING
Do NOT use this table extension if
it does not properly install on the
attaching pins.
8. Install the appropriate pad.
Install the Table Extension on the Back Section
1. Remove the pad set.
2. Remove the x-ray top from the table.
3. Adjust the height of the table top to a safe
and comfortable height required to remove the
head section and the back section.
4. Loosen the locking knobs on the bottom of
the head section.
5. Remove the head section.
6. Simultaneously squeeze the two release
levers on the bottom of the back section and
pull the leg section off the attaching pins.
WARNING
The table sections are heavy. Safely
handle the table sections during
removal to prevent injury.
7. Install the table extension on the attaching
pins.
The pads are not included with the purchase of the
40 Inch Carbon Fiber Table Extension.
8. Push the table extension until it rests against
the pin collar and clicks into place.
9. Pull on the table extension to verify it is
secure.
WARNING

it does not properly install on the
attaching pins.
10. Install the appropriate pad.

The operator of this accessory is responsible to
prevent damage to the table and surrounding
equipment. The operator is also responsible to
prevent injury to the patient and the staff.
All personnel must review the following
precautions before operating the table.
CAUTION
Check for obstacles
before the surgical table
is lowered or tilted.
WARNING
Do NOT use this table extension if
it does not properly install on the
attaching pins.
WARNING
Do NOT use this table extension if
any parts are missing, broken or
have excessive wear. Contact your
Skytron representative to request
service related to this product.
WARNING
Do NOT use this table extension if
any cracks or chips have exposed
any carbon ber elements. Exposure
to the carbon ber elements may
cause skin irritation. Contact your
Skytron representative to request
service related to this product.

Preventive Maintenance
Complete the preventive maintenance identied
below. Regular preventive maintenance makes
sure the accessory operates correctly. Preventive
maintenance should only be completed by qualied
and trained personnel from Skytron.
• Complete a general, visual examination
during cleaning.Check for:
• Loose bolts
• Loose parts
• Cracks
• Chips
Complete the necessary repairs or replace the
accessory.
• Complete a periodic inspection of the
following:
• Operation of the release lever
• Velcro
• Top surface

Cleaning Recommendation
Follow the procedures below to clean the 40 Inch
Carbon Fiber Table Extension between cases.
1. Place the table top in a level position.
WARNING
Always follow the standards for
blood-borne pathogens from the
Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). Use the
recommended protective clothing,
gloves, masks and eye protection
to clean the table extension.
2. Use disposable cleaning materials to
remove major components. Follow the
appropriate procedures to dispose of
biohazard waste.
3. Remove pad sets from the table extension.
Clean and disinfect the pad sets between
cases.
4. Examinepadsforwearordamage.Verifythat
the seal on the pad is not compromised.
CAUTION
Read and follow the directions from the
manufacturer for all cleaning uids. Do
NOT use cleaners containing phenolics.
5. For soils and stains:
• Wash the Carbon Fiber Table Extension
with a large amount of neutral soap suds and
lukewarm water. Rinse with water. Dry the
table extension. Do NOT immerse the table
extension in water.
OR
• Wash the Carbon Fiber Table Extension
with a diluted bleach solution. The bleach
must be 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. Wipe
the accessory dry with a clean cloth. Do NOT
immerse the table extension in water. Bleach
MUST be diluted to the 10:1 ratio.
Always follow the current Association of
periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Journal
Guidelines to make sure the proper clearning and
disinfection procedure is followed.
6. To disinfect:
• Use Lysol I.C. Disinfectant Spray by National
Laboratories, Montvale, NJ per manufacturer's
instructions. Reference: National Laboratories
Item # 95029-000
OR
• Wash the Carbon Fiber Table Extension
with a diluted bleach solution. The bleach
must be 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. Wipe
the accessory dry with a clean cloth. Do NOT
immerse the table extension in water. Bleach
MUST be diluted to the 10:1 ratio.
CAUTION
Make sure the pad and the table
extension are both dry before the pad
is placed on the table extension again.
Moisture trapped between the pad and
the table extension can cause distortion
of the top section.
7. Replace the pads on the table
extension.
8. When pads need to be disposed of, treat
them as hazardous waste. Dispose of the pads
properly.
