Introduction
The PowerPack User Guide contains operating,
regulatory, and safety information. To attach or
remove the PowerPack or its battery pack, refer to
the assembly instructions.
For information on the stand or ultrasound system,
see its user guide.
Conventions
The user guide follows these conventions:

prevent injury or loss of life.

protect the products.
• Numbered steps in procedures must be
performed in order.

About the PowerPack
The PowerPack contains a battery pack secured
within a housing that mounts on the following
stands:
•Edge™Stand
• V-Universal™ Stand
• H-Universal™ Stand
The PowerPack extends the system battery running
time up to 140% for any of the following ultrasound
systems:
• Edge ultrasound system
• M-Turbo ultrasound system
• S-Series ultrasound system
• NanoMaxx ultrasound system
The PowerPack powers the system only. If you need
to run AC-powered peripherals, connect the stand to
AC power.

Caution: To ensure proper operation of the

Charging the PowerPack
battery
A fully discharged PowerPack battery charges in 12
hours if the ultrasound system is turned off. The
system battery charges before the PowerPack
battery charges.
The PowerPack powers the system as well as charges
the system battery (if discharged). If the PowerPack
battery becomes depleted, the system runs on the
system battery.
If the stand is connected to AC power, the system
runs on AC power instead of battery power.
To charge the PowerPack battery
1Make sure that the following are connected:
• Power supply DC power cord from the stand
(A) to the PowerPack. (See “PowerPack cables
and connectors” on page 4.)
• PowerPack DC power cord to the system
directly, to the NanoMaxx dock, or to the
mini‐dock (depending on your system and
configuration).
2Connect to AC power: Connect the system AC
power cord (K) to the stand and a wall outlet.
Note: If using the PowerPark, you connect to AC
power by docking the stand.
The PowerPack battery (and system battery if
discharged) charge regardless of whether the
system is running.
Indicators
The PowerPack indicators show available battery
power. While the battery charges, an indicator
flashes.

Troubleshooting
Symptoms and solutions
PowerPack doesn’t charge If the PowerPack ceases
to charge and its indicators are off, it may be in a
frozen state. Disconnect,wait 20 seconds, and then
reconnect the following cords:
•PowerPackDCpowercord(Z) from the system
• System AC power cord (K), if present, from the
wall outlet
If the problem persists, contact FUJIFILM SonoSite
Technical Support. (See “FUJIFILM SonoSite
Technical Support” on page 1.)
Charging takes longer than expected If charging
takes a long time (for example, the charge indicator
is always on), try disconnecting the PowerPack DC
power cord (Z) from the system and running the
system on the system battery only. If the fully
charged system battery discharges quickly (for
example, in a few minutes), it needs replacing.

Caution: The PowerPack contains battery
technology that requires periodic
recharging to maintain optimal
performance. If left uncharged for
months, the battery performance
may degrade or become
non-functional.

To clean and disinfect the PowerPack
You can clean and disinfect the exterior surface of
the PowerPack using a recommended cleaner or
disinfectant. For the most recent list of approved
products, see www.sonosite.com.

system from the power supply and
remove it from the stand.
To avoid injury, always use
protective eyewear and gloves
when performing cleaning and
disinfecting procedures.
To avoid infection, ensure that the
solution expiration date has not
passed.
To avoid infection, the level of
disinfection required for a product
is dictated by the type of tissue it
contacts during use. Ensure that the
solution strength and duration of
contact are appropriate for the
equipment. For information, see the
disinfectant label instructions and
the recommendations of the
Association for Professionals in
Infection Control and Epidemiology
(APIC) and FDA.
Caution: Use only recommended cleaners
or disinfectants on surfaces.
Immersion-type disinfectants are
not tested for use on surfaces.
To avoid damaging the battery,
do not allow cleaning solution or
disinfectant to come in contact with
the battery terminals.

2Clean the surfaces using a soft cloth lightly
dampened in a mild soap or detergent cleaning
solution.
Apply the solution to the cloth rather than
the surface.
3Wipe the surfaces with the disinfecting solution.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the
disinfecting solution, including exposure time
and temperature
for effective disinfection.
4Air dry or towel dry with a clean cloth.
Safety
Observe the following WARNINGS and Cautions
before using accessories and peripherals with
the ultrasound system and transducers.

as Class II equipment
when connected to the
AC power supply.
Internally powered
equipment
The PowerPack is classified
as internally powered
equipment when not
connected to the power
supply (battery only).
Non AP/APG The PowerPack is not
suitable for use in the
presence of flammable
anaesthetics.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of electrical shock:
• Use only properly grounded
equipment. Shock hazards exist if
the power supply is not properly
grounded. Grounding reliability
can only be achieved when
equipment is connected to a
receptacle marked“Hospital
Only” or“Hospital Grade” or the
equivalent. The grounding wire
must not be removed or
defeated.
• Use only accessories and
peripherals recommended by
FUJIFILM SonoSite, including the
power supply. Use the PowerPack
only with FUJIFILM SonoSite
power supply P09823.
• Do not disassemble or alter the
battery.
• Use only with specified approved
power supplies.
• Do not plug the stand’s power
cord into a multiple portable
socket outlet (MPSO) or use an
extension cord.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of electrical shock
or injury, do not open the battery
enclosure on the PowerPack battery
and housing.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of electrical shock
and fire hazard, inspect the power
supply, plugs, cables, and power
cords on a regular basis for damage.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of fire hazard and
burns, do not open, crush, or heat
the PowerPack above 60 °C.

Equipment safety
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
See the safety section of the ultrasound system user
guide and supplemental guides for information on
electromagnetic compatibility with IEC 60601-1-2,
including the Manufacturer’s Declaration.
Symbols
The following symbols and phrases appear on the
product. For additional symbols, see the ultrasound
system user guide.
WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock or
electromagnetic interference, verify
proper operation and compliance
with relevant safety standards for all
equipment before clinical use.
Connecting additional equipment
to the ultrasound system
constitutes configuring a medical
system. FUJIFILM SonoSite
recommends verifying that the
system, all combinations of
equipment, and accessories
connected to the ultrasound system
comply with JACHO installation
requirements and/or safety
standards AAMI-ES1, NFPA 99, IEC
60601-1-1, and IEC 60601-1-2, and
are certified according to IEC 60950
(Information Technology
Equipment (ITE)).
Caution: Electrostatic discharge (ESD), or
static shock, is a naturally occurring
phenomenon. ESD is common in
conditions of low humidity, which
can be caused by heating or air
conditioning. Static shock is a
discharge of the electrical energy
from a charged body to a lesser or
non-charged body. The degree of
discharge can be significant
enough to cause damage to the
PowerPack. The following
precautions can help reduce ESD:
anti-static spray on carpets,
anti-static spray on linoleum, and
anti-static mats.
To prevent the battery from
draining, do not connect the
PowerPack DC power cord to its
own—or another PowerPack’s—
DC input port.
The Power Pack contains battery
technology that requires periodic
recharging to maintain optimal
performance. If left uncharged for
months, the battery performance
may degrade or become
non-functional.
Caution: Excessive bending or twisting of
cables can cause a failure or
intermittent operation.
Improper cleaning or disinfecting of
any part of the accessories and
peripherals can cause permanent
damage. For cleaning and
disinfecting instructions, see
“Cleaning and disinfecting”on
page 4 and the manufacturer’s
operating instructions.

Informationen zu PowerPack
Das PowerPack enthält ein in einem Gehäuse
gesichertes Batteriepack, das auf ein
V-Universal™-Stativ oder einem H-Universal™-
Stativ montiert wird. Das PowerPack verlängert
die Laufzeit der Systembatterie um bis zu 140 %
für die folgenden Ultraschallsysteme:
• M-Turbo®-Ultraschallsystem
• Ultraschallsystem der S-Series™
• NanoMaxx™-Ultraschallsystem
Das PowerPack ist nur für den Betrieb des
Systems bestimmt. Für den Betrieb von
wechselstrombetriebenen Peripheriegeräten
das Stativ an den Netzstrom anschließen.

Aufladen der
PowerPack-Batterie
Eine vollständig entladene PowerPack-Batterie
lädt bei abgeschaltetem Ultraschallsystem in
12 Stunden auf. Bevor die PowerPack-Batterie
aufgeladen wird, wird die Systembatterie
aufgeladen.
Das PowerPack versorgt das System mit Strom
und lädt gleichzeitig die Systembatterie auf (falls
sie entladen ist). Wenn die PowerPack-Batterie
erschöpft ist, läuft das System im Batteriebetrieb.
Wenn das Stativ an das Netz angeschlossen ist,
läuft das System im Netzbetrieb und nicht im
Batteriebetrieb.

So laden Sie die PowerPack-Batterie auf:
1Vergewissern Sie sich, dass folgende
Anschlüsse hergestellt sind:
• Kabel für Gleichstrom-Stromversorgung
vom Stativ (A) zum PowerPack (siehe
„Powerpack-Kabel und -Anschlüsse“ auf
Seite 4).
• PowerPack-Gleichstromkabel direkt an
das System, an das NanoMaxx-Dock oder
das Mini-Dock (je nach System und
Konfiguration).
2Das System an die Stromversorgung
anschließen: Das Netzstromkabel für das
System (K) an das Stativ und eine
Wandsteckdose anschließen.
Hinweis: Bei Verwendung von PowerPark erfolgt
der Anschluss an die Stromversorgung indem das
Stativ an die Dockingstation angeschlossen wird.
Die PowerPack-Batterie (und Systembatterie,
falls entladen) lädt unabhängig davon, ob das
System läuft.
Anzeigen
Die Anzeigen des PowerPacks geben die
verfügbare Batterieladung an. Während die
Batterie aufgeladen wird, leuchtet eine Anzeige.

Fehlersuche
Symptome und Lösungen
PowerPack lädt nicht Wenn das PowerPack nicht
mehr lädt und die Anzeigen aus sind, befindet es
sich möglicherweise in einem fixierten Zustand.
Folgende Kabel trennen und dann wieder
anschließen:
• PowerPack-Gleichstromkabel (Z) vom System
• System-Netzkabel (K), falls vorhanden, von
der Wandsteckdose
Besteht das Problem weiterhin, bitte an den
technischen Kundendienst von SonoSite wenden
(siehe „Technischer Kundendienst SonoSite“ auf
Seite 1).
Das Laden dauert länger als erwartet Wenn das
Laden sehr lange dauert (zum Beispiel wenn
die Ladeanzeige konstant leuchtet), das
PowerPack-Gleichstromkabel (Z) vom System
trennen und das System nur im Batteriebetrieb
laufen lassen. Wenn sich die vollständig geladene
Systembatterie schnell entlädt (zum Beispiel
innerhalb weniger Minuten), muss sie ersetzt
werden. Wenden Sie sich an den technischen
Kundendienst von SonoSite.

WARNHINWEIS: Um einen elektrischen Schlag

Netzteil getrennt und vom

Desinfizieren stets Schutzbrille
und Handschuhe tragen.
Um Infektionen zu vermeiden,
ist darauf zu achten, dass das
Verfallsdatum der Lösung nicht
überschritten wurde.
Um Infektionen zu vermeiden,
muss der für ein Produkt
erforderliche Desinfektions-
grad eingehalten werden.
Dieser hängt von der Art des
Gewebes ab, mit dem es beim
Gebrauch in Berührung
kommt. Stellen Sie sicher, dass
die Konzentration der Lösung
und die Einwirkungsdauer für
das Gerät geeignet sind.

dem Etikett des Desinfektions-
mittels und den Empfehlungen
der„Association for
Professionals in Infection
Control and Epidemiology

Reinigung und Desinfektion des
PowerPacks
Die äußere Oberfläche des PowerPacks kann
mithilfe eines empfohlenen Reinigungs- oder
Desinfektionsmittels gereinigt bzw. desinfiziert
werden. Eine aktuelle Liste mit zugelassenen
Produkten finden Sie unter www.sonosite.com.
1Die Stromversorgung des Geräts
unterbrechen und alle Kabel abtrennen.
2Oberflächen mit einem weichen Tuch
abwischen, das mit einer milden Seife oder
einer Reinigungslösung befeuchtet wurde.
Reinigungslösung auf das Tuch und nicht auf
die Oberfläche auftragen.
3Oberflächen mit der
Desinfektionsmittellösung abwischen.
Anweisungen des Herstellers der
Desinfektionslösung beachten, einschließlich
der für eine wirkungsvolle Desinfektion
vorgegebenen Dauer und Temperatur.
4Gerät an der Luft trocknen lassen oder mit
einem trockenen, sauberen Tuch abwischen.
Sicherheit
Vor dem Gebrauch von Zubehör und
Peripheriegeräten mit dem Ultraschallsystem
und den Schallköpfen sind die folgenden
Warn- und Vorsichtshinweise zu beachten.
Bitte beachten Sie auch die Hinweise zur
Batteriesicherheit in der Bedienungsanleitung
des Ultraschallsystems.
Klassifizierung der elektrischen

Vorsichtshinweis: Auf den Oberflächen nur
empfohlene Reinigungs-
und Desinfektionsmittel
verwenden.
Desinfektionsmittel, die
ein Eintauchen erfordern,
wurden nicht für die
Verwendung auf
Oberflächen getestet.
Um Schäden an der Batterie
zu vermeiden, darf keine
Reinigungslösung und kein
Desinfektionsmittel an die
Batterieklemmen gelangen. Gerät der Klasse II Das PowerPack ist als
Gerät der Klasse II
eingestuft, wenn es an
die Stromversorgung
angeschlossen ist.

Elektrische Sicherheit
WARNHINWEIS: Vermeidung des Risikos von
elektrischen Schlägen:
•Gerätenurbeiordnungs-
gemäßer Erdung
verwenden. Wenn das
Netzteil nicht ordnungs-
gemäß geerdet ist, besteht
dieGefahr eines elektrischen
Schlags. Die Zuverlässigkeit
einer Erdung lässt sich nur
dannsicherstellen, wenndas
Gerät im Krankenhaus an
eine entsprechende
Wandsteckdose
angeschlossen wird. Der
Erdungsdraht darf nicht
entfernt oder umgangen
werden.
• Ausschließlich von SonoSite
empfohlene Zubehörteile
und Peripheriegeräte
(einschließlich Netzteil)
verwenden. Das PowerPack
nur mit dem Netzteil P09823
von SonoSite verwenden.
• Die Batterie nicht
auseinandernehmen
oder umbauen.
• Nur mit den angegebenen
zugelassenen Netzteilen
verwenden.
• Das Stromkabel des Stativs
nicht an eine tragbare
Mehrfachsteckdose oder
ein Verlängerungskabel
anschließen.
Zur Vermeidung von
elektrischen Schlägen bzw.
Verletzungen nicht die
Abdeckung oder das Gehäuse
der Batterie des PowerPacks
öffnen.
WARNHINWEIS: Um das Risiko eines
elektrischen Schlags und
Brandgefahr zu vermeiden,
Netzteil, Stecker, Kabel und
Netzstromkabel in
regelmäßigen Abständen
überprüfen.
Um einen möglichen
elektrischen Schlag oder
elektromagnetischeStörungen
zu vermeiden, sind alle Geräte
vor ihrem klinischen Einsatz
auf einwandfreie
Funktionstüchtigkeit und
Einhaltung der einschlägigen
Sicherheitsnormen zu
überprüfen. Durch den
Anschluss zusätzlicher Geräte
an das Ultraschallsystem
entsteht ein medizinisches
System. SonoSite empfiehlt,
das System, alle Geräte-
kombinationen und an das
Ultraschallsystem
angeschlossene Zubehörteile
auf Einhaltung der JACHO-
Installationsvorschriften
und/oder Sicherheitsnormen
AAMI-ES1, NFPA99 oder die
IEC-Norm 60601-1-1 und die
IEC-Norm 60601-1-2 zu
überprüfen und
sicherzustellen, dass sie gemäß
IEC-Norm 60950 (Anlagen der
Informationstechnik)
zertifiziert sind.

Gerätesicherheit
Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit
(EMV)
Informationen zur elektromagnetischen
Verträglichkeit gemäß IEC 60601-1-2,
einschließlich der Herstellererklärung, sind den
Hinweisen zur Sicherheit im Benutzerhandbuch
für das Ultraschallsystem und den ergänzenden
Handbüchern zu entnehmen.
Symbole
Die folgenden Symbole und Begriffe erscheinen
auf dem Produkt. Informationen über weitere
Symbole finden Sie im Benutzerhandbuch für das
Ultraschallsystem.
Vorsichtshinweis: Elektrostatische
Entladungen oder ein
statischer Schlag sind
natürlich auftretende
Phänomene. Elektro-
statische Entladungen treten
meist bei niedriger
Luftfeuchtigkeit auf, die
durch Heizungen oder
Klimaanlagen verursacht
werden kann. Als statischer
Schlag wird die Entladung
elektrischer Energie auf
einen weniger oder nicht
geladenen Körper
bezeichnet. Der Grad der
Entladung kann hoch genug
sein, um Schäden am
PowerPack zu verursachen.
Mit den folgenden
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen lässt
sich das Risiko elektro-
statischer Entladungen
verringern: Antistatik-Spray
auf Teppichböden,
Antistatik-Spray auf
Linoleum und antistatische
Matten.
Um ein schnelles Entladen
der Batterie zu verhindern,
das PowerPack-Gleichstrom-
kabel nicht an seinen
eigenen Gleichstrom-
eingang (oder den eines
anderen Powerpacks)
anschließen.
Vorsichtshinweis: Übermäßiges Biegen oder
Verdrehen der Kabel kann zu
einem Defekt oder zum
zeitweiligen Aussetzen des
Betriebs führen.
Unsachgemäße Reinigung
oder Desinfektion des
Zubehörs bzw. der
Peripheriegeräte kann
permanenten Schaden
verursachen. Anweisungen
