下記の注意を守らないと、火災や感電により
死亡や大けがにつながることがあります。
分解禁止
分解しない、改造しない
分解したり、改造したりすると、感電の原因とな
ります 。
禁止
内部に水や異物を入れない
水や異物が入ると火災や感電の原因となりま
す。
万一、水や 異物が入ったときは、すぐに電源を
切り、電源コードや接続コードを抜いて、お買い
上げ店またはソニーのサービス窓口にご相談く
ださい。
指定された電源コードを使用する
指定以外の電源コードを使用すると、火災や感
電の原因となります。

電源コードを傷つけると、火災や感電の原因と

•電源コードを加工したり、傷つけたりしない。
•重いものをのせたり、引っ張ったりしない。

表示された電源電圧で使用する
機器に表示されたものと異なる電源電圧で使用

には使用しない
取扱説明書に指定されているバッテリーパック以
外のものを充電すると、火災や感電の原因とな

スなどの金属類を差し込むと、火災や感電の原
因となります。

通気孔をふさがない
通気孔をふさぐと内部に熱がこもり、火災の原因
となることがあります。
•逆さまや横倒しにしない。
•風通しの悪い、狭いところに押し込まない。
•毛足の長いじゅうたんや布団の上に置かな
い。
•布をかけない。
安定した場所に設置する
ぐらついた台の上や傾いたところなどに設置す
ると、製品が落下してけがの原因となることがあ
ります 。
安全アースを接続する
安全アースを接続しないと、感電の原因となるこ
とがあります。
安全アースを取り付けることができない場合は、
ソニーのサービス窓口またはお買い上げ店にご
相談ください。
直射日光が当たるところなどで使
用・保管しない
環境温度が0℃〜40℃の範囲で使用してくださ
い。0℃以下または40℃以上の場所で使用する
と、火 災 の原 因となることがあります。
指定の充電時間を越える長時間充電
はしない
取扱説明書で指定された充電時間を越えて充
電を続けると、火災の原因となることがあります。
お手入れや運搬をするとき、または
使用しないときは、電源プラグをコ
ンセントから抜く
電源を接続したままお手入れや運搬をすると、
感 電 の原 因となることがあります。また、不用意
な事故を防ぐため、使用しないときは電源プラ
グを抜いてください。
接続の際は、電源を切る
電源コードを接続するときは、電源を切ってくだ
さい。電源を切らずに接続すると、感電の原因
となることがあります。
ぬれた手で電源プラグをさわらない
ぬれた手で電源プラグをさわると、感電の原因
となることがあります。

電池についての安全上のご注意
破裂、火災、液漏れなどを避けるため、下記の注意事項を必ずお守りください。
危険
下記の注意事項を守らないと、破裂・火災・液漏れにより、死
亡や大けがになります。
•指定された充電器以外では充電しないでください。
•火の中に入れないでください。電池の、＋と−の端子を金属などでショートさせ
たり、分解、加熱、はんだ付けしたりしないでください。コイン、ヘヤーピン、ネッ
クレスなどの金属類と一緒に携帯、保管するとショートすることがあります。
•電池内部の液が目に入ったときは、失明の恐れがありますので、こすらずにす
ぐにきれいな水で洗った後、ただちに医師の治療を受けてください。

けがなどの人身事故になることがあります。
•水、雨水、河水などでぬれたままの電池を充電したり、使ったりしないでくださ
い。
•所定の充電時間を越えても充電が完了しない場合は、充電をやめてください。
•電池内部の液が皮膚に付着した場合には、皮膚に傷害を起こす恐れがあります
ので、すぐにきれいな水で洗い流してください。

•並列接続する場合は、完 全に 充 電され た バッテリーパックどうしを使用してくだ
さい。
•電池を使い切ったとき、長時間使わないときは、取り出しておいてください。
ニカド電池は、リサイクルできます。不要になったニカド電池は、金属部にセロハンテープなどの
絶縁テープを貼って充電式電池リサイクル協力店へお持ちください。

BC-1WDは、バッテリーパックNP-1またはNP-1A、NP-1Bを4本同
時に装着し、順次充電できる4連式のバッテリーチャージャーです。
次のような特長を備えています。
特長
同時に4本のバッテリーパックを装着可能
4本のNP-1/1A/1Bを同時に装着し、順々に充電することができま
す。また、充電の終了したバッテリーパックを外して、新たに充電
したいバッテリーパックを 装 着 すると、4本以上のバッテリーパックの
連続充電が可能です。
小型・軽量
小型・軽量で、持ち運びが容易です。
オートリフレッシュ機能
容量がまだ残っているバッテリーパックの充電を繰り返すと、メモ
リー効果（バッテリーの使用量が記憶される現象）により、使用時
間が短くなることがあります。このメモリー効果を防止するために、
充電を開始する前に自動的に完全放電させる「オートリフレッシュ
機能」を装備しています。
自己診断機能
接続したバッテリーパックが正常であるかどうかを診断する機能を
備えています。バッテリーパックが正常に充電されないときは、赤と
緑のランプが交互に点滅して異常を知らせます。
寿命判断機能
バッテリーの使用可能容量を表示します。バッテリーパックの寿 命
を判断する目安になります。
満充電バッテリースキップ機能
完全に充電されたバッテリーパックを本機に装着した場合、放電・
充電のサイクルを行なわず、「充電完了」を表示します。
概要

本機の充電方式
本機では、POWERスイッチをONにすると、まず放電を行い、続
いて充電完了間近に発生する V（下図参照）の電圧降下を検出
するまで急速充電を行います。その後、装着したバッテリーの全て
が充電を完了すると、トリクル充電（自己放電を防ぎ、常に満充電
の状態を保持するための微少な電流による充電）を行います。24
時間継続すると、自動的にトリクル充電は停止します。なお、充電
状態は、オートリフレッシュモード時とリフレッシュ解 除 モード時で、
下図のように異なります。

各部の名称と働き
BC-1WD前面および後面
1POWER（電源）スイッチとランプ
スイッチを ON にすると電源が入り、ランプが点灯します。
電源が入ると、バッテリー装着部に装着されたバッテリーパックが1
〜4の順に充電されます。
2LIFE（ライフ）ボタンと表示部
バッテリーパックの 寿 命を 判 定した いときに 押します。装 着 部 4 の
バッテリーパックに 対してだけ働きます。
装 着 部 4に バッテリーパックを装 着してこのボタンを押 すと、表示部
に「OP」が表示されます。使用可能容量が測定されると、結果が
表示部に表示されます。
3REFRESH OFF（リフレッシュ解除）ボタン
押し てボタンを 点 灯させるとオートリフレッシュ放電せずにただちに
充電を開始します。このボタンを押すたびに、オートリフレッシュ
モード（ボタン消灯）とリフレッシュ解 除 モード（ボタン点灯）を交互
に切り換えることができます。装着部1〜4に装着した全てのバッ
テリーパックの充電が１回終了すると、自動的にボタンは消灯し、
オートリフレッシュモードに戻ります。
4バッテリーパック装着部と充電表示ランプ1〜4/LIFE
バッテリーパックNP-1/1Ａ/1Bを装着します。
装着部4のLIFE表示は、装着部4に装着したバッテリーパックの
みLIFE（寿命判定）機能が働くことを示しています。ランプは 赤
と緑の点灯と点滅で、装 着した バッテリーパックの 状 態を次 のよう
に表示します。
◆ 充電中のランプの表示については「充電表示ランプの表示」をご覧くだ
さい。

４本のバッテリーパックの充電動作
ご注意
•周囲温度が0℃〜40℃の範囲でお使いください。温度が低いと
充電しにくくなります ので、20℃〜30℃での充電をお勧めします。
•ほこりや、腐食性ガスのある場所での使用、保管は避けてくださ
い。
•直射日光のあたる場所での使用、保管は避けてください。
•通気孔をふさがないでください。

充電したいバッテリーパックNP-1/1A/1Bを図のように装着します。

POWERスイッチをONにすると、1から4の順序でバッテリーパック
がオートリフレッシュ放 電され 、続いて充電されます。本機はバッテ
リーパックのメモリー効果を防ぐために充電前にリフレッシュ（放電）
を自動的に行います。急いでいるときなど、リフレッシュする時 間 が
どうしても取れないときは、REFRESHOFFボタンを押して点灯さ
せてください。リフレッシュ放電せずに充電を開始します。
充電表示ランプの表示
ランプの表示 意味
赤色のゆっくりした点滅 オートリフレッシュ中
（残っているバッテリーの容量を完全に放電）

•充電開始後、規定時間内にバッテリーの
電圧が急速充電電圧に達しなかった。
•規定時間内に− V充電制御方式による
充電終了が検出できなかった。
•リフレッシュ時に、規定時間内に放電完
了にならなかった。
以上のような場合、2、3回再充電してみて
ください。それでも同じ症状がでる場合は、
バッテリーパックが 不 良と思 わ れます ので、
新しいバッテリーパックに交換してください。

適用バッテリーパックと充電時間
完全に放電したバッテリーパック1本の充電を完了するまでの時間
は、下記のとおりです。

バッテリーパックについてのご注意
本機の性能は、適用バッテリーパックに対してのみ保証されていま
す。適用バッテリーパック以外は使わないでください。
4本以上のバッテリーパックを連続充電するには
バッテリーパックの充電が終わると、バッテリーパック装着部の対応
する充電表示ランプが緑色に点灯します。続けて充電したいバッ
テリーパックがあるときは、ランプが緑色に点灯している装着部の
バッテリーパックを取り外し て、代 わりに 新たに 充電した い バッテ
リー パックを 装 着します 。装着されているバッテリーパックは次々に
充電されますので、連続して多数のバッテリーパックを充電するこ
とができます。
リフレッシュせずに充電するには
REFRESHOFFボタンを押し点灯させて充電します。ボタン点灯
中は放電を行わず、充電を開始します。装着部1〜4までに装着
されているすべてのバッテリーパックを1回充電すると、REFRESH
OFFボタンは消灯し、オートリフレッシュモードに戻ります。
バッテリーパックの寿命判定
装着部4に装着したバッテリーパックの使用可能容量を測定し、結
果を表示します。装着部1〜3に装着したバッテリーパックは測定
できません。
LIFEボタンを押し点灯させて充電します。4番目のバッテリーパック
は、下図の順序で容量測定されます。測定値がバッテリーパックに
表示されている容量（Ah表示）の2/3位になったときが寿命の目
安です。もし、装着部1〜3にもバッテリーパックが装着されている
ときは、通常どおり順番に充電し、最後に装着部4に装着したバッ
テリーパックの 容 量を測 定します。
バッテリーパックの寿命判定
ご注意
表示される測定値が、バッテリーパックに表示されている容量より
大きくなることがありますが、故障ではありません。

Overview
The BC-1WD/1WDCE is a battery charger capable of
continuous charging, into which any four NP-1/1A/1B
battery packs can be inserted simultaneously.
The BC-1WD/1WDCE is equipped with the following
features.

Up to four battery packs can be inserted
Up to four NP-1/1A/1B battery packs can be inserted
and charged in order. More than four battery packs
can be charged continuously by removing the fully
charged battery packs and replacing them with
discharged ones.
Compact and lightweight
The BC-1WD/1WDCE is compact, lightweight, and
easy to carry.
Automatic refresh function
If a battery pack with remaining capacity is charged
repeatedly, the storage capacity of the battery may be
reduced due to memory effect (phenomena by which
the remaining battery capacity is memorized). To
prevent against this memory effect, an “auto refresh
function” is provided to fully discharge a battery pack
automatically before charging.
Diagnostics functions
The BC-1WD/1WDCE has functions to check for
abnormalities in the connected battery packs. A red
and green lamp will alternately flash when a battery
pack cannot be normally charged indicating an
abnormal condition.
Life judgement function
The available capacity of the battery is indicated. This
criterion is used to determine the life of the battery
pack.
Fully charged battery skip function
When a fully charged battery pack is inserted into the
BC-1WD/1WDCE, the battery is neither charged nor
discharged, and the indication “Charging End” will
appear on the display.

Charging System
The BC-1WD/1WDCE begins discharging once the
POWER switch is turned ON. It continues to give a
booster charge until the voltage drop of –DV (see the
figures below), which occurs near the end of charging,
is detected. Trickle charging (charging at a slow rate
to normally maintain the battery in a fully charged
condition and to protect against self discharge) will be
done after all of the inserted batteries have been
charged. Trickle charging automatically stops after 24
hours of continuation. Further, the charging status
varies, as seen in the diagrams below, according to
whether you are in the auto refresh mode or the refresh
cancellation mode.

Locations and Functions of Parts
Front and rear panels of the BC-1WD/1WDCE
in the following manner by lamps flashing and lighting
in red and green.
For the indications of the lamps during charging, see
“Indications of the charge lamps.”
5Ground terminal
Connect to a ground wire when necessary.
6AC IN connector
Used to connect the unit to an AC outlet using the
supplied AC power cord.
7Plug holder
Secures the AC power cord so that it will not come
loose from the unit.
1POWER switch and lamp
Turn this switch ON to supply the power and the
associated lamp will light up. Once the power is
turned ON, the battery packs in the battery pack
insertion section will be charged in order from 1 to 4.
2LIFE button and display
Press this button when desiring to determine the life of
the battery pack. This function works only in regard to
the battery pack in insertion section 4. After inserting
a battery pack into section 4, press this button and the
indication “OP” will appear on the display.
Subsequently, the results of the available battery
capacity measured will appear on the display.
3REFRESH OFF button
Press this button and it will light up and charging will
begin immediately without automatic refresh
discharging. Press this button to alternate between the
auto refresh mode (button OFF) and the refresh OFF
mode (button ON). After all of the battery packs
inserted in sections 1 through 4 have been charged
once, this button automatically goes out and returns the
charger to the auto refresh mode.

Precautions
•Use the BC-1WD/1WDCE in surroundings with
temperatures at 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
Charging at low temperatures is difficult, so it is
recommended that the battery packs be charged at
between 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F).
•Avoid using or storing the BC-1WD/1WDCE in
places susceptible to dust or corrosive gases.
•Avoid using or storing the BC-1WD/1WDCE in
places subject to direct sunlight.
•Do not cover the ventilation holes.
Battery Pack Insertion
Insert the NP-1/1A/1B battery packs to be charged as
shown below.
Inserting a battery pack
Charging
Turn the POWER switch ON. First the battery packs
are discharged and then charged in order from 1 to 4.
The BC-1WD/1WDCE automatically conducts
refreshing (discharge) before charging to prevent
against battery pack memory effects. When you have
no time to refresh the battery packs, press the
REFRESH OFF button and it will light.
Consequently, charging will start without refresh
discharging first.

One of the following conditions exists:
• The battery voltage has not risen to
the booster charge voltage within a
specified period after commencement
of charging.
• The end of charging in the – V
charge control system has not been
detected within a specified period.
• Discharging when refreshing did not

In such cases, try recharging the
battery pack two or three times. If the
same condition persists, the battery
pack may be defective and should be
replaced.

Note on the battery packs
The performance of the BC-1WD/1WDCE is
guaranteed only for the applicable battery packs. Do
not charge any other types of battery packs.
Continuous charging of more than 4 battery
packs
The charge lamp of the corresponding battery pack
insertion section will light in green after a battery pack
has been fully charged. If you wish to charge
additional battery packs, remove the fully charged
battery pack and replace it with one to be charged. A
large number of battery packs can be continuously
charged through successive charging of the battery
packs.
Charging without refresh operations
Press the REFRESH OFF button and it will light.
When this button is lit, charging begins, only without
discharging first. The REFRESH OFF button goes out
and returns to the automatic refresh mode after all
battery packs inserted in battery pack insertion sections
1 through 4 have been charged once.
Battery pack life judgement
The capacity of the battery pack in section 4 is
measured and the results are displayed. The capacity
of battery packs in sections 1 through 3 cannot be
measured.
Press the LIFE button and it will light. Then, the
capacity of the battery pack inserted in battery pack
insertion section 4 is measured in the sequence shown
in the figure below. The criterion is that the measured
value reach 2/3 of the capacity (indicated in Ah units)
shown on the battery pack. Charging occurs in the
normal order when battery packs are also inserted in
sections 1 through 3, with the capacity of the battery
pack in section 4 measured last.
Life judgement of battery pack
NOTE
The measured value may sometimes be greater than
the capacity shown on the battery pack, however this
does not mean that there is trouble with the battery
charger.
