cable is supplied with the Walkman.
Installing the attachment
When you use the cradle, fit the attachment supplied with your Walkman.
To install the attachment, fit the two tabs near the logo into the holes on the
cradle first, then push the opposite side down into the cradle.
To remove the attachment, push strongly the concave part of attachment
toward the rear of the cradleJ!), then push strongly the area indicated by the
mark (000) from above 0. (lEI)

The
shape of the attachment may be different, depending on your Walkman model.

a CD player, using an optional audio cable.

LEVELll ](recording with the normal volume level): To record from the line out
jack or headphone jack ofadevice such

OC charging cord to charge the Walkman.
WM·PORT is adedicated multiple connector for connecting accessories 10 your Walkman.
• Charging a Walkman
Refer to lIIustration Ill.
1 Connect the smaller terminal (1Il) of the DC charging cord
(supplied) to the DC IN jack (lID) of the cradle.
2 Connect the larger terminal (lID) of the DC charging cord to
the AC adaptor (supplied).
3 Connect the AC power cord (supplied) to the AC adaptor (1J1j).
4 Connect the AC power cord to the wall outlet ([j]).
5 Attach the Walkman to the WM-PORT connector on the top
of the cradle (~).
Charging starts. Charging time will vary, depending on the model of the
Walkman. For details, refer to the Operation Guide of the Walkman.
Notes
•Place the
Walkman firmly into the cradle.
•
Do not connect anything to the AUDIO our jack of the cradle if you listen to
songs using the headphones of the Walkman while charging. Otherwise, no
sound is output from the headphone jack of the Walkman.
I Connecting to a computer
Refer to Illustration II.
1
Connect the WM-PORT of the USB cable (supplied with the
Walkman) to the WM-PORT on the back of the cradle (1111).
2 Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer (MI).
3 Attach the Walkman to the cradle (IHI).
Notes
Place the
Walkman firmly into the cradle.
Ifthe cradle is connected to a wall outlet, the Wa1kman will be charged from the wall outlet.
Even if the cradle is not connected to awall outlet, the Walkman can
be charged via
the
USB cable. If the cradle is connected to alaptop computerwhich is not connected
to awall outlet, the Walkman
will deplete the battery of the laptop computer.
A
Walkman will not be recognized by a computer if the cradle is connected to
the computer by the IX charging cord.
If the Walkman is disconnected from the cradle while data is being transferred
from the computer, attach the Walkman to the cradle and transfer the data again.
Do not disconnect the USB cable, DC charging cord and AC power cord while
transferring
data from the computer; otherwise the data transfer will be
interrupted. If this occurs, detach the Walkman from the cradle, and transfer
the
data after attaching the Walkman to the cradle again.
• Recording to a Walkman
Refer to Illustration Ill.
By connecting a music player, such as a CD player, to the AUDIO IN jack of the cradle
by an optional audio cable (~), you can record to the Walkman* attached to the cradle.

1 Connect the music player to the AUDIO IN jack of the cradle
with a suitable audio cable (sold separately).
2 Attach the Walkman to the cradle.
The recording procedure will vary depending on the model of the

monitor sound during recording from the headphone jack of the Walkman,

IX IN jack of the cradle beforehand.
• Connecting to a device such as a speaker
Refer to Illustration Ill.
Using an optional audio cable (11§1), you can connect the cradle to a device
that outputs audio, such as an active speaker. Be sure to tum off all devices
before connecting them.
1 Connect the device to the AUDIO OUT jack of the cradle with
a suitable audio cable (sold separately).
2 Attach the Walkman to the cradle.
3 Start playback of the Walkman.
Notes
Connect the audio cable before starting playback on or recording to the
Walkman.
If you connect it after starting playback, sound may not be output
from the AUDIO OUT jack. If this occurs, detach the Walkman from the
cradle,
and start playback after attaching the Walkman to the cradle again.
While the cradle is connected to the computer, sound may not be output from the AUDIO
OUT jack of the cradle. If this occurs, disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
Sound from the computer
is not output from the AUDTOOUT jack of the cradle.
While the
cradle is connected to an audio output device, no sound is output
from the headphone jack of the Walkman.
If the recording level of audio data played back on the Walkman is too high, the
output sound quality from the Walkrnan via the cradle to adevice, such as an
active speaker, may not meet the user customized settings, e.g., "Equalizer" etc.
If you use a Walkman with abuilt-in FM tuner, you may not be able to hear
the FM broadcast, or reception may be lowered substantially.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
For your protection, please read these safety instructions completely before operating the appliance,
and keep this manual for future reference.
Carefully observe all warnings, precautions and instructions on the appliance and in the operating
instructions, and adhere to them.
INSTALLATION
Water and Moisture - Do not use powerline operated appliances
near water -for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,
or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, etc.
Heat - Do not place the appliance near or over a radiator or heat
register, or where it is exposed to direct sunlight.
Ventilation -The slots and openings in the cabinet are provided
for necessary ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the
appliance, and to protect it from overheating, these slots and
openings must never be blocked or covered.
- Never cover the slots and openings with acloth or other
materials.
USE
Power Source -This appliance should be operated only from the
type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are
not sure of the type of electrical power supplied to your home,
consult your dealer or local power company. For those appliances
designed to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to
the operating instructions.
Grounding or Polarization -This appliance is equipped with a
polarized AC power cord plug (a plug having one blade wider
than the other), or with athree-wire grounding type plug (a plug
having a third pin for grounding). Follow the instructions below:

For the appliance with a polarized AC power cord plug:
This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a
safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the

SERVICE
Damage Requiring Service - Unplug the appliance from the wall
outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the
following conditions:

When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
- If liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the
appliance.
- If the appliance has been exposed to rain or water.

The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits

marked change in performance. -This indicates a need for

the
operating instructions, adjust only those controls that are
specified in the operating instructions. Improper adjustment
of other controls may result in damage and will often require

Consumer 1 Year Warranty
Sony of Canada Ltd. ("Sony") hereby warrants, subject to the terms and condi-
tions herein set forth, this product against defects in material and workman-
ship during the specified warranty period. In the event of a defect of material or
workmanship during the specified warranty period, Sony will repair the same,
effecting all necessary parts replacements with either new or refurbished parts,
without charge for either parts or labour.
The warranty period is as follows:
Labour and Parts: ONE year from the date of original purchase at retail.
Conditions:
Unauthorized Modification, Repair, Abuse, Etc.:
This limited warranty is void if: (i) the unit has been previously altered, modi-
fied, installed or mounted for commercial use, or repaired or serviced by any-
one other than the service facilities authorized by Sony to render such ser-
vices, (ii) the serial number on the unit has been altered or removed, or (iii) the
unit has been subject to accident, misuse, abuse or operated contrary to the
instructions contained in the Owner's Manual. The opinion of Sony with re-
spect to this matter shall be final.
Commercial Use or Rental:
This product is not intended for commercial use or rental. Should this unit be
used at any time for commercial purposes or as a rental unit, the limited war-
. ranty period for parts and labour shall be 90 days from the date of original
purchase at retail. The opinion of Sony with respect to this matter shall be final.
Exclusions:
This limited warranty does not extend to broken or damaged cabinets, acces-
sories, batteries, exposed antennas and styluses, or to parts wearing out due
to normal wear and tear. This limited warranty does not cover regular product
maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication or check-ups.
This limited warranty covers only the hardware components packaged with the
product. It does not cover technical assistance for hardware or software usage
and it does not cover any software products whether or not contained in the
product. Any such software is provided "AS IS" unless expressly provided for
in any enclosed software limited warranty. Please refer to the End User License
Agreements included with the product for your rights and obligations with re-
spect to the software.
This
limited warranty is valid only in Canada.
Delivery:
The unit must be delivered in person to one of the nearest Sony service facili-
ties in Canada, or shipped, freight prepaid, in either its original package or
similar package affording an equal degree of protection and with instructions
indicating a location within Canada to which the unit may be returned. If shipped
to the service facility, the repaired unit will be returned to customer freight
prepaid. All accessories that are enclosed with the unit must be listed individu-
ally on the packing slip for the shipping documentation. Defective accessories
should be shipped to Sony as a separate repair item. Sony shall have no liabil-
ity whatsoever for loss or damage in transit of items shipped to service facili-
ties. Any parts replaced under this limited warranty will become the property of
Sony. II is your responsibility to back up any data, software or other materi-
als you may have stored or preserved on your unit. II is likely that such data,
software, or other materials will be lost or relormalled during service and
Sony will not be responsible for any such damage or loss.

This limited warranty applies to the product from the original date of purchase
at retail. The owner must furnish proof of original purchase at retail.

Sony Electronics Inc. ("Sony") warrants this product against defects in material or workmanship for the time
periods and as set forth below. Pursuant to this Limited Warranty, Sony will, at its option, (i) repair the product
using
new or refurbished parts or (ii) replace the product with a new or refurbished product. For purposes of this
Limited Warranty, "refurbished" means a product or part that has been returned to its original specifications. In
the event of a defect, these are your exclusive remedies.

Repair I Replacement Warranty: This Limited Warranty shall apply to any repair, replacement part or replace-
ment product for the remainder of the original Limited Warranty period or for ninety (90) days, whichever is
longer.
Any parts or product replaced under this Limited Warranty will become the property of Sony.
This LimitedWarranty
only covers product issuescaused by defects in material or workmanship during ordinary
consumer use; it does not cover product issues caused by any otherreason, including but not limited to product
issues due to commercial use, acts of God, misuse, limitations of technology, or modification of or to anypart of
