THIS APPARATUS MUST BE EARTHED.
This unit has no power switch.
When installing the unit, incorporate a readily accessible
disconnect device in the fixed wiring, or connect the power
cord to a socket-outlet which must be provided near the
unit and easily accessible.
If a fault should occur during operation of the unit, operate
the disconnect device to turn off the power supply, or
disconnect the power cord.
CAUTION
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of
procedures other than those specified herein may result in
hazardous radiation exposure.
CAUTION
The use of optical instruments with this product will
increase eye hazard.
This DPF SYSTEM CONTROLLER is classified as a
CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT.
Warning on power connection
Use a proper power cord for your local power supply.
1. Use the approved Power Cord (3-core mains lead)/
Appliance Connector/Plug with earthing-contacts that
conforms to the safety regulations of each country if
applicable.
2. Use the Power Cord (3-core mains lead)/Appliance
Connector/Plug conforming to the proper ratings
(Voltage, Ampere).
If you have questions on the use of the above Power Cord/
Appliance Connector/Plug, please consult a qualified
service personnel.
CAUTION
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type
recommended by the manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's
instructions.

SYSTEM CONTROLLER.
This Installation Guide is for use by qualified service
personnel when setting up the system hardware.

Front (Closed)
ATouchscreen display
Displays information, selections, and commands.
Users can touch the screen directly to perform
selections.
BMedia reader
Holds various media for reading image data,
including “Memory Stick,” CompactFlash cards, xD-
Picture cards, SD Memory Cards, MultiMediaCards,
and USB memory devices.
Note
To avoid losing image data or damaging the unit,
never attempt to insert any media into a
CompactFlash adapter set in the CompactFlash slot.
CReceipt printer
Holds a roll of 2-inch receipt paper for printing
transaction information.
DDVD drive
Performs read and write operations on a disc.
Front (Open)
ASpeakers
Emit audio sounds at each touch of the display.
BDrawer
Houses the receipt printer and media drives.
CCabinet lock
Secures access to the inside of the unit.
DCabinet
Houses the components of the unit.
EVentilation holes
Allow air to pass through the unit to keep it cool
during operation.

Rear (Closed)
ARear cover lock
Secures access to inside the unit.
BRear cover
Remove this to connect the power cord and other
cables to the internal connectors on the unit.
C1(On/Standby) button
Press this button to start the unit.
For details about operations, refer to the User’s Guide.
Note
For an emergency shutdown, press and hold this
button for at least four seconds. The unit will be
forcibly shut down.
Rear (Open)
ACooling fans
Force air to pass through the unit to keep it cool during
operation.
BInternal connectors
Connect to the various components of system and the
peripheral devices. For details, see “Internal
Connectors” on page 8.

Connections
Before Connecting
All the connectors for the unit are located behind the rear
cover. This section describes how to access and operate the
rear cover safely and illustrates the layout of the internal
connectors.
Note
Remove the internal packing material the first time you
open the unit, and save it in case you need to transport the
unit later.
Opening and Closing the Rear Cover
To open the rear cover
1 Unlock the rear cover lock using the supplied cabinet
key.
2 Remove the rear cover while holding it on both sides.
To close the rear cover
1 Attach the rear cover while holding it on both sides.
2 Lock the cover using the cabinet key.
Opening and Closing the Cabinet
To open the cabinet
1 Unlock the cabinet lock on the left side of the unit
using the supplied cabinet key.

2 Pull out the drawer using the handholds on both sides.
Note
Do not remove the cabinet key when the drawer is
open.
Shutting the drawer while the key is removed may
damage the lock and prevent the key from being
inserted.
To close the cabinet
Note
Use both hands to lower the front panel. The front panel is
heavy and could cause serious injury if it fell unexpectedly.
1 Slide the drawer shut, and lock the cabinet lock.
Internal Connectors
AAC power connector
Connects to the specified AC power cord. For details,
see “Connecting the Power Cord”.
B(Printer) port
Not currently used.
CUSB ports (6)
Connect to peripheral USB devices. For details, see
“Connecting a Peripheral USB Device” on page 9.
D(LAN) connector (RJ-45 type)
Not currently used.
Caution
For safety, do not connect the connector for peripheral
device wiring that might have excessive voltage to this
port.
Follow the instructions for this port.
E(LINE IN) jack
Not currently used.
F(LINE OUT) jack
Not currently used.
G(MIC IN) jack
Not currently used.
HCash drawer port
Not currently used. Not for telecommunication
(telephone) network.
I1 (COM 1) port
Not currently used.
J(Monitor) port
Not currently used.
Notes
• Make sure any device cables with retaining screws are
properly fastened to the securing bolts on the sides of
each port.
• We recommend that you wire all device cables through
the holes at the rear of the unit and bundle them properly
with cable ties.
Connecting the Power
Cord
Follow the procedure below to connect the specified AC
power cord to the unit. For details on the locations of
internal connectors, see “Internal Connectors”.
1 Open the rear cover.
For details, see “To open the rear cover” on page 7.
2 Connect the specified power cord to the AC power
connector inside the unit.
Note
When wiring and bundling cables, leave some slack
inside the cabinet to prevent a sudden pull on the cable
from disconnecting the cable or damaging the
connector.
3 After all other connections are complete, connect the
power cord to an AC power outlet.

Connecting a Peripheral
USB Device
Follow the procedure below to connect a peripheral USB
device to one of the designated USB ports inside the unit.
For details on connecting a specific device, refer to the
manual that came with the device.
Supported USB devices
The following peripheral USB devices can be connected to
the internal USB ports on the UPA-PC700:
• UP-D75 (Sony Digital Photo Printer)
• UP-DR200 (Sony Digital Photo Printer)
• UP-GR700 (Sony Digital Photo Printer)
Notes
• To avoid causing a fire or damaging the unit, never
attempt to connect an unsupported device. For more
details about the types of devices supported by the unit,
consult your dealer.
• Up to three UP-DR200 printers can be connected to the
UPA-PC700.
• Up to one UP-D75 or UP-GR700 printer can be
connected to the UPA-PC700.
To connect a USB device
1 Open the rear cover.
For details, see “To open the rear cover” on page 7.
2 Connect one end of the USB cable to one of the four
designated USB ports inside the unit.
Notes
• The six designated USB ports for connecting
peripheral USB devices are shown by 3under
“Internal Connectors” on page 8.
• When wiring and bundling cables, leave some slack
inside the cabinet to prevent a sudden pull on the
cable from disconnecting the cable or damaging the
connector.
3 Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB port
on the device.
4 Close the rear cover.
For details, see “To close the rear cover” on page 7.
5 Turn on the peripheral USB device.
Notes
• Connect peripheral USB devices directly to the USB
ports on the unit. Operation through a USB hub is not
guaranteed.
• If a message prompting you to install drivers appears
when you connect supported peripheral devices to the
unit, contact your dealer.
• When the UP-DR200/UP-D75/UP-GR700 is connected
to the UPA-PC700 and powered on, the following dialog
appears:
“A change of device connection has been recognized.
Please wait for a while.”, and “The connection has been
made in the system.”
Do not operate the system while the dialog is displayed.

Replacing Components
Replacing Media Drives
It may become necessary to replace the media reader or the
DVD drive. Follow the procedures below to remove or
insert one of the media drives.
Note
Before removing or inserting a media drive, make sure the
unit and the peripheral devices are turned off.
Removing a Media Drive
1 Open the cabinet.
For details, see “To open the cabinet” on page 7.
2 Disconnect the power cord.
3 Remove the drive cover.
4 When removing the media reader, disconnect it from
the USB ports on the unit.
When removing theDVD drive, disconnect it from the
IDE port on the unit.
5 Pull the quick-lock pins on both sides of the media
drive directly outward 1, and then turn them 90
degrees 2to lock them in the open position.
6 Remove the media drive from the bay.
The old media drive is now removed. To finish the
replacement, you need to insert a new media drive.
Inserting a Media Drive
1 Insert the new media drive into the appropriate bay,
aligning the holes in the sides of the drive with the
quick-lock pins.
2 Turn the quick-lock pins 90 degrees to lock them in
the closed position.
3 When inserting a media reader, connect it to the USB
ports on the unit.
When inserting a DVD drive, connect it to the IDE
port on the unit.
4 Attach the drive cover.
5 Connect the power cord.
6 Close the cabinet.
