Purpose of this manual
This manual is the maintenance manual of the MAV-555A Multi Access Video Disk
Recorder.
This manual is intended for use by trained system and service engineers, and
describes the information that premise the service based on components replacement
(error message/maintenance functions, service overview, parts and board replace-
ment, electrical alignment, circuit descriptions, spare parts, block diagrams, and
frame wiring).
Moreover, describes the information for the following optional board.

This section describes the error messages that are dis-
played on the 8-bit LED on the board.

When the main power is turned on, the indication of the 8-
bit LED changes as shown below.

When boot-up is complete, the version and release date are
displayed. Two digits of these data are displayed at one
time respectively in binary notation.

All of the 8 bits turn on one after another.

If an error is detected during boot-up, the error message
“EM Board Not Respond”appears on the front panel. If
this message appears, reboot the MAV-555A. If the same
error message appears again, check the 8-bit LED on the
following boards.

Connect the Ethernet terminal of the rear panel to a personal computer using an Ethernet cross cable.
Preparation
1. Set the IP address and the sub-net mask of the MAV-555A to the factory settings.

.The IP address and sub-net mask can be confirmed in set-up menu No. 220.
.The factory settings are as follows:
IP address : 192.168.0.1
Sub-net mask : 255.255.255.0
2. Set the IP address and the sub-net mask of the personal computer as follows:
IP address : 192.168.0.2
Sub-net mask : 255.255.255.0
3. Start up the personal computer.
4. Wait for the MS-DOS prompt (or command prompt) to appear.
5. Input [ping 192.168.0.1].
6. Confirm that the reply is returned normally.

7. If the reply is not returned normally, input [arp -d 192.168.0.1] and perform from step 5 again.
(There can be a case that the APR table information is left remained when two or more MAV-555As
are connected continuously.)

Procedure for acquiring log
1. Start up Tera Term (Tera Term Pro Ver.2.3 or higher).
2. When the Tera Term: New connection dialog box appears, click “Cancel”.
Confirm that “Tera Term _[disconnected]”is displayed in the title bar.
3. Select [Control] _[Macro] from the top menu.
4. Select [Log_**.ttl] file.

To acquire all logs of the board, select [Log_ALL.ttl] file.
The dialog box asks whether to acquire the DM2 (R2/P3, P2/R3 ports) log. If this is not to be ac-
quired, click “No”.
5. The log is acquired automatically and saved to a file.

LogFM_2001-12-24 : Log of FM-81 (FM) board (downloaded on December 24, 2001)
LogPuV_2001-12-24 : Log of PU-121 board and video (downloaded on December 24, 2001)

Acquiring the same log twice or more on the same day rewrites the file because the file name is the
same as the previous one.

1-2-2. How to Acquire the Logs of the BKMA-550
Logs of the BKMA-550 (Asynchronous Network Board) are saved in the gateway PC. This section
describes how to acquire the logs using the Setup menu of the gateway PC.
Procedure to Acquire the Logs
In the case of acquiring the logs from the console display of the gateway PC
Log in with the authority of user: setup and acquire the logs as follows.
1. Enter the login name “setup”.
2. Enter the password “setup”.
3. The Setup menu appears.
In the case of acquiring the logs from other PC through network
Log in with the authority of user: setup and acquire the logs as follows.
1. Enter the login name “rsetup”.
2. Enter the password “rsetup”.
3. Enter the password “setup”.
4. The Setup menu appears.

1. Select [2 Log] from the menu and press the [ENTER] key.
2. Select [2 System] from the menu and press the [ENTER] key.
3. Select [1 Dump] from the menu and press the [ENTER] key.
4. Press the [ENTER] key.
5. Press the [*] key to select [Cancel] and press the [ENTER] key.
Repeat selecting the [Cancel] and pressing the [ENTER] key three times to quit the menu.

Acquiring the log file
When the procedure to save the logs is performed, the log file is saved in the /home/setup/log folder of
the gateway PC. The other PC can acquire this log file using FTP.
(example : Acquiring the log file from a Windows PC)
1. Start up the MS-DOS prompt (or command prompt).
2. Enter [ftp 192.168.0.1]. (Enter the IP address of the gateway PC in the underlined characters.)
3. When your PC is connected to other PC with ftp and the user name entry prompt is returned, enter
user: [setup] and password: [setup].
4. Enter [cd log] to move to the /log directory.
5. Enter [ls] and confirm the log file as shown below.
6. Enter [bin] to select the binary mode.

1-3. Backing Up and Restoring the Contents of Memory (FM-81 board)
This section describes how to back up or restore the memory contents of the FM-81 board from the MS-
DOS prompt (or command prompt).

.The file management information (file system) and the set-up information are stored in these memories.
Before operating, back up the contents.
.When replacing the FM-81 board
.When replacing the back-up battery of the FM-81 board
.Backing-up is possible when the file is loaded. However, when backing up for restoration when replac-
ing the battery, unload the file and back it up. (If the file is not unloaded, an error occurs during restora-
tion so that restoration cannot be performed.)
.The contents of SRAM are retained by the super capacitor when the battery is replaced. If the operation
does not take a long time (sixty minutes or less), restoration does not need to be performed after
replacing the battery.
If the following symptoms occur, restore the contents.
Date or time is not correct.
The file list does not appear on the display of the control panel.
The settings of the set-up menu have returned to the factory settings.
Connection
Connect the Ether terminal of the rear panel to a personal computer using an Ethernet cross cable.
Preparation
1. Set the IP address of the MAV-555A to the factory setting.

.The IP address and sub-net mask can be confirmed in set-up menu No. 220.
.The factory settings are as follows:
IP address : 192.168.0.1
Sub-net mask : 255.255.255.0
2. Set the IP address and the sub-net mask of the personal computer as follows:
IP address : 192.168.0.2
Sub-net mask : 255.255.255.0
3. Start up the personal computer.
4. Wait for the MS-DOS prompt (or command prompt) to appear.
5. Input [ping 192.168.0.1].
6. Confirm that the reply is returned normally.
7. If the reply is not returned normally, input [arp -d 192.168.0.1] and perform from step 5 again.
(There can be a case that the APR table information is left remained when two or more MAV-555As
are connected continuously.)
