Connectors
Conventional
video
equipment
transmits
or
receives
the
composite
video
signal.
The
composite
vidoe
signal
is
liable
to
produce
interference
resulting
in
picture
quality
loss.
On
the
other
hand,
the
S
VIDEO
connector
transmits
or
receives
the
video
signal
separated
into
the
luminance
signal
and
the
chrominance
signal.
Flickers
and
color
blur
in
the
picture
are
minimized
with
the
separated
video
signals
and
picutre
sharpness
is
enhanced
to
such
an
extent
that
even
hair
and
fine
stripes
are
clearly
visible.
The
S
VIDEO
connector
also
assures
minimum
loss
in
picture
quality
during
editing.
On
installation
©
Do
not
install
the
unit
in
a
location
near
heat
sources
such
as
heaters
or
air
ducts,
or
in
a
place
subject
to
direct
sunlight,
excessive
dust,
mechanical
shock
or
vibration.
On
connection
©
Firmly
connect
the
cables
into
jacks.
Loose
cable
connection
may
cause
noise
and
distorted
images.

To
disconnect
the
cable,
pull
it
out
by
grasping
the
plug,
not
the
cable.

Jacks
and
plugs
of
the
connecting
cable
are
color-coded
as
follows:
Red
jacks
and
plugs:
for
the
right
channel
of
audio
signals.
White
jacks
and
plugs:
for
the
left
channel
of
audio
signals.
Yellow
jacks
and
plugs:
for
video
signals.

If
this
unit
is
placed
on
the
top
of
a
TV
(monitor),
it
might
cause
noise
and
distorted
images
due
to
electromagnetic
radiation
from
the
TV
(monitor).
In
such
a
case,
rearrange
the
cables.
If
there
is
no
improvement,
move
the
unit
to
a
different
location.

be
connected

TV
(monitor)
or
monitor
which
has
no
S
VIDEO
jacks.
However,
for
sharp
and
clear
images,
we
recommend
to
connect
video
units
equipped
with
the
S
VIDEO
jacks.
In
addition,
for
optimizing
the
editing
functions
of
this
unit,
we
recommend
to
connect
the
TV
(monitor)
or
monitor
with
two
or
more
sets
of
input
jacks.

How
to
use
the
supplied
label
:
For
your
convenience,
adhesive
labels
are
supplied
to
the
unit.
Attach
the
labels
to
the
front
panel
of
the
unit
or
the
connected
video
units.
This
makes
it
easier
to
identify
which
video
unit
is
connected
to
which
jack
when
using
the
COPY
or
MONITOR
button.
You
can
write
the
name
of
the
video
unit
on
the
label
with
a
permanent
pen.

Note
on
Inputs/Outputs
of
the
SB-V66S
The
copy
mode
selector
and
the
monitor
output
selector
of
the
SB-V66S
are
separated
from
each
other.
That
is,
you
can
select
the
signal
to
be
monitored
regardless
of
the
editing
signals.
Notes
on
video
signal
connection
These
video
inputs
and
outputs
have
two
types
of
jack:
S
VIDEO
(multi-pin
connector)
and
VIDEO
(coaxial
phono
jack).
When
you
select
a
video
unit
connected
to
the
S
VIDEO
jack
by
depressing
the
MONITOR
button
The
signal
is
supplied
to
the
S
VIDEO
jack
only.
When
you
select
a
video
unit
connected
to
the
VIDEO
jack
by
depressing
the
MONITOR
button
The

supplied
to
the
VIDEO
jack
only.

Jacks

input
jacks

There
are
two
types
of
video
units;
one
has
S
VIDEO
jacks,
and
the
other
does
not.

A
video
unit
which
has
an
S
VIDEO
input
is
also
equipped
with
a
VIDEO
input.
However,
it
cannot
receive
both
S
VIDEO
and
VIDEO
signais
at
the
same
time.
When
you
select
which
to
use,
the
following
two
methods
are
available
depending
on
video
units:
For
a
video
unit
equipped
with
an
S
VIDEO/VIDEO
selector
Connect
the
cables
to
both
types
of
jacks
and
select
either
the
S
VIDEO
signal
or
VIDEO
signal
by
the
selector.
When
you
connect
to
either
the
S
VIDEO
or
VIDEO
jack,
set
the
selector
to
the
corresponding
position
with
the
connected
jack.
For
a
video
unit
which
has
no
S
VIDEO/VIDEO
selector
If
you
connect
the
cables
to
both
types
of
jacks,
the
S
VIDEO
jack
is
automatically
selected.
When
using
the
VIDEO
input
jack
of
the
video
unit,
be
sure
to
remove
the
cable
from
the
S
VIDEO
jack
of
the
video
unit.
On
output
jacks
A
video
unit
with
an
S
VIDEO
output
is
also
equipped
with
a
VIDEO
jack.
The
signal
is
sent
from
both
the
S
VIDEO
and
VIDEO
output
jacks,
thus
allowing
both
jacks
to
be
used
at
the
same
time.

The
type
of
input
jack
depends
on
the
TV
(monitor).
One
is
equipped
with
the
S
VIDEO,
VIDEO,
and
AUDIO
jacks,
while
the
other
is
equipped
with
only
the
VIDEO
and
AUDIO
jacks.
As
for
the
TV
equipped
with
an
S
VIDEO
input,
there
are
two
types
of
signal
selection;
a
selector
performs
the
selection
and
it
is
done
automatically.

is
only
an
example.
The
number
and
names
of
the
jacks
may
vary
for
each
TV
(monitor).
Connect
the
cables
to
appropriate
jacks
on
your
TV
(monitor).

watch
the
TV
(monitor)
Set
the
input
selector
of
the
TV
(monitor)
according
to
the
video
inputs
to
which
the
desired
signal
is
connected
(VIDEO

or
VIDEO
2

the

example).
