• Das Nichtbeachten dieser Gebrauchsanweisung

3.1 Zweckbestimmung
Die E-Box dient zur Verarbeitung und Übertragung
von Daten eines Endoskops zu KARL STORZ
Kamera-Kontrolleinheiten. Die E-Box hat keinen
direkten Körperkontakt.
3.2 Kontraindikationen
Kontraindikationen, die sich direkt auf das
Produkt beziehen, sind derzeit nicht bekannt. Die
Verwendung der E-Box gilt als kontraindiziert,
wenn nach Meinung eines verantwortlichen
Arztes eine solche Anwendung eine Gefährdung
des Patienten hervorrufen würde, z. B. aufgrund
des Allgemeinzustandes des Patienten, oder die
Videoendoskopie als solche kontraindiziert ist.
3.3 Qualifikation des Anwenders
Die E-Box darf nur von Personen eingesetzt
werden, die über eine entsprechende medizinische
Qualifikation verfügen und mit der Technik der
Videoendoskopie vertraut sind. Die in dieser
Anleitung gegebenen Hinweise dienen lediglich der
korrekten Handhabung, Reinigung und Sterilisation
der E-Box. Sie sind nicht zur Einführung in die
Technik der Videoendoskopie geeignet.
3.4 Gebrauch
Das Gerät ist für den Einsatz in Krankenhäusern
und Arztpraxen vorgesehen. Der Anwender hat
sich vor der Anwendung der Gerätes von der
Funktionssicherheit und dem ordnungsgemäßen
Zustand des Gerätes zu überzeugen.
3 Uso correcto
3.1 Uso previsto
E-Box sirve para procesar y transferir datos de un
endoscopio a unidades de control de cámara de
KARL STORZ. E-Box no entra en contacto directo
con el cuerpo.
3.2 Contraindicaciones
No se conocen actualmente contraindicaciones
que se refieran directamente al producto. La utiliza-
ción de E-Box está contraindicada cuando, según
la opinión del médico responsable, una utilización
de este tipo podría representar un peligro para
el paciente, p. ej., debido al estado general del
paciente, o cuando la videoendoscopia como tal
esté contraindicada.
3.3 Cualificación del usuario
E-Box ha de ser empleado únicamente por perso-
nas que dispongan de la correspondiente cualifica-
ción médica y que estén familiarizadas con la técni-
ca de videoendoscopia requerida. Las indicaciones
contenidas en este Manual tienen por objeto única-
mente proporcionar información acerca de la mani-
pulación, la limpieza y la esterilización correctas de
E-Box, no siendo apropiadas como introducción a
la técnica de la videoendoscopia.
3.4 Uso
El aparato está previsto para su aplicación en hos-
pitales y consultorios médicos. El usuario ha de
cerciorarse de la seguridad de funcionamiento y el
buen estado del aparato antes de cada aplicación.
3 Normal use
3.1 Intended use
The E-Box is used to process and transfer data
from an endoscope to KARL STORZ camera
control units. The E-Box has no direct physical
contact.
3.2 Contraindications
No contraindications relating directly to the product
are currently known. The use of the E-Box is con-
traindicated if, in the opinion of a responsible physi-
cian, the patient's health is endangered through its
use, e.g., due to the patient's general condition, or
if video endoscopy as such is contraindicated.
3.3 User qualification
The E-Box may only be used by persons with
an appropriate medical qualification and who are
acquainted with video endoscopy techniques. The
information in this manual serves only to instruct in
the correct handling, cleaning and sterilization of
the E-Box, and is not suitable as an introduction to
video endoscopy techniques.
3.4 Use
The device is intended for use in hospitals and
doctors’ offices. It is the user’s responsibility to
make sure the device is safe and operating prop-
erly before use.

einem Fall- und Crashtest unterzogen.

ausgeliefert und muss somit vor der ersten
Anwendung sowie vor jeder weiteren
Nutzung gereinigt und desinziert werden.
1HINWEIS: Das flexible Single-Use-
Videoendoskop zum Einmalgebrauch wird
steril verpackt geliefert.
3WARNUNG: Eine sicherheitstechnische
Unbedenklichkeit bei Kombinationen von
Medizinprodukten ist nur dann gegeben,
wenn
• diese in den jeweiligen Gebrauchs
anweisungen als solche ausgewiesen
sind oder
• die Zweckbestimmung und die
Schnittstellenspezifikationen der in
Kombination verwendeten Produkte dies
zulässt.
3WARNUNG: Prüfen Sie die E-Box vor jeder
Anwendung auf Funktionsfähigkeit und ob
sie korrekt gereinigt, desinziert und/oder
sterilisiert ist.
3WARNUNG: Bei offensichtlichen Schäden
die E-Box nicht weiter verwenden, ggf. zur
Reparatur einschicken.
2VORSICHT: Den Adapter 8401XA
nicht zusammen mit der E-Box TP012
verwenden. Dies führt zu Beschädigungen
am Produkt und/oder Instrument.
2VORSICHT: Die E-Box darf nicht im
Ultraschallbad gereinigt werden.
2VORSICHT: Die E-Box darf nicht mit
Dampf sterilisiert werden.
4 Safety
4.1 Safety precautions when operating
the E-Box
1NOTE: The E-Box has successfully passed
a fall and crash test.
3WARNING: The E-Box is not sterile when
delivered and must therefore be cleaned
and disinfected before the rst use and
before every subsequent use.
1NOTE: The exible single-use videoscope
is delivered in sterile packaging.
3WARNING: Combinations of medical de-
vices are only assured to be
technically safe if
• they are listed as such in the respective
instruction manuals
or
• the intended purpose and interface
specifications of the devices used in
combination permit this.
3WARNING: Inspect the E-Box prior to
each use to ensure that it functions correct-
ly and that it has been correctly cleaned,
disinfected and/or sterilized.
3WARNING: If damage is evident, the
E-Box must no longer be used, or must be
sent for repair if appropriate.
2CAUTION: Do not use the adaptor
8401XA together with the E-Box TP012.
This may lead to damage to the product
and/or instrument.
2CAUTION: The E-Box must not be cleaned
in an ultrasound bath.
2CAUTION: The E-Box must not be steam-
sterilized.

productos utilizados en combinación lo
permiten.
3CUIDADO: Antes de cada utilización, com-
pruebe la capacidad de funcionamiento de
E-Box y si ha sido correctamente limpiado,
desinfectado y/o esterilizado.
3CUIDADO: No siga utilizando el dispositi-
vo E-Box si presenta deterioros evidentes;
si es necesario, envíelo a reparación.
2ADVERTENCIA: No utilice el
adaptador8401XA en combinación con
E-BoxTP012. Esto puede conllevar el
deterioro del producto y/o instrumento.
2ADVERTENCIA: E-Box no debe limpiarse
en baño de ultrasonidos.
2ADVERTENCIA: E-Box no debe ser
esterilizado con vapor.

5.2. 2 Funcionamiento con una unidad
de control de cámara (CCU)
1. Conecte el videoendoscopio flexible
desechable1 con el zócalo de conexión3de
E-Box.
2. Conecte el cable de conexión6de E-Box con
la conexión correspondiente de la CCU.
1NOTA: Tenga en cuenta el Manual de
instrucciones de la unidad de control de
cámara (CCU) utilizada.
3. Conecte la CCU a la red y, si fuera necesario,
active el interruptor de red.
4. E-Box estará listo para su uso tan pronto como
se ilumine en verde la lámpara piloto LED4en
el mismo.
1NOTA: Si la lámpara pilotoLED no se
ilumina en verde, esto indica un defecto
en el dispositivo. En ese caso, póngase
en contacto con el Servicio Técnico de
KARLSTORZ.

5.2. 2 Betrieb mit einer Kamera-
Kontrolleinheit (CCU)
1. Das flexible Single use-Videoendoskop 1mit
Anschlussbuchse 3der E-Box verbinden.
2. Das Anschlusskabel 6der E-Box mit dem
entsprechenden Anschluss an der CCU
verbinden.
1HINWEIS: Beachten Sie die
Gebrauchsanweisung der verwendeten
Kamera-Kontrolleinheit (CCU)
3. Die CCU mit dem Netz verbinden und ggf. am
Netzschalter einschalten.
4. Wenn die LED-Kontrollleuchte 4an der E-Box
grün leuchtet, ist die E-Box einsatzbereit.
1HINWEIS: Sollte die LED-Kontrollleuchte
nicht grün leuchten, liegt ein Defekt vor.

5.2. 1 Compatibility
The E-Box TP012 is compatible with the following

5.2. 2 Operation with a camera control
unit (CCU)
1. Connect the flexible single-use videoscope 1to
the socket 3on the E-Box.
2. Connect the connecting cable 6of the E-Box to
the corresponding connection on the CCU.
1NOTE: Observe the instruction manual for
the camera control unit (CCU) being used.
3. Connect the CCU to the power supply and
switch on at the power switch if necessary.
4. When the LED indicator light 4on the E-Box
lights up green, the E-Box is ready for operation.
1NOTE: If the LED indicator light does not
light up green, this indicates a defect.

5.3 Disassembly of the E-Box
1. To disassemble, disconnect the E-Box

connection or from the connection on the CCU.

gently push in the plug so that it can then
be easily removed.
2. Remove the connecting cable of the flexible
single-use videoscope from the connection 3
on the E-Box.
1NOTE: Do not dispose of the E-Box after
use. The E-Box can be reused after each
wipe-down disinfection.

6.1 Wischdesinfektion
Die Außenflächen des Medizinproduktes mit einem
desinfektionsmittelbefeuchteten Einmaltuch oder mit
einem gebrauchsfertigen getränkten Desinfektionstuch
wischend reinigen. Alkoholbasierte Mittel sind auf-
grund proteinfixierender Wirkung und möglicher
Materialunverträglichkeiten nicht zu verwenden.
Die Angaben des Chemikalienherstellers bezüglich
Materialverträglichkeit sind zu beachten. Am Ende
der Einwirkzeit des Desinfektionsmittels, nach
Herstellerangaben, ist die Oberfläche mit einem
trockenen flusenarmen Tuch nachzuwischen.
3WARNUNG: Das Produkt ist nicht gegen
Wasser oder Feuchtigkeit geschützt und kann
somit nicht manuell, mit Dampf oder in der
Waschmaschine aufbereitet/sterilisiert werden.
6 Reprocessing

6.1 Wipe-down disinfection
The exterior surfaces of the medical device must
be wiped clean with a disposable cloth moistened
with disinfectant or a ready-to-use soaked
disinfectant cloth. Due to their protein-fixating effect
and material incompatibility, alcohol-based agents
must not be used. The chemical manufacturer's
specifications regarding material compatibility
must be observed. At the end of the necessary
exposure time for the disinfectant as specified by
the manufacturer, wipe the surface with a dry and
low lint cloth.
3WARNING: The product is not protected
against water or moisture, and can
therefore not be reprocessed/sterilized
manually, using steam or in a washer.

6.1 Desinfección por frotado
Las superficies exteriores del producto médico han de
limpiarse frotándolas con un paño desechable hume-
decido con un producto desinfectante o con un paño
desinfectante embebido listo para su uso. Los produc-
tos a base de alcohol no deben utilizarse debido a su
efecto fijador de las proteínas y la incompatibilidad de
los materiales. Observe las indicaciones del fabricante
de los productos químicos en cuanto a la compatibili-
dad de los materiales. Una vez transcurrido el tiempo
de aplicación del producto desinfectante, según las
indicaciones del fabricante, repase las superficies con
un paño seco que desprenda poca pelusa.

7.1 Responsabilidad
Como fabricantes de este producto médico somos

7 Service, repair and disposal
7.1 Limitation of liability
KARL STORZ shall be liable for the safe operation,
operational reliability, and performance of this
medical device only subject to the following
conditions:
• all assembly operations, system expansions,
readjustments, modifications or repairs have
been performed by a person or persons duly
authorized by KARLSTORZ;
• the electrical installation of the location in which
the medical device is connected and operated
conforms to the applicable statutes and
standards, and
• the medical device has been used in accordance
with its operating instructions at all times.
7.2 Warranty
The warranties provided can be found in the Stan-
dard Conditions of Business of KARL STORZ.
The medical device must always be sent to your lo-
cal subsidiary (see the section ‘Subsidiaries’), even
during the warranty period.
Opening of the equipment or performance of any
repairs or modications to the medical device by
unauthorized persons shall relieve us of any liability
for its performance. Any such opening, repair, or
modication performed during the warranty period
shall void all warranty.

7.4 Infektionsprävention
Aus infektionspräventiven Gründen ist ein Versand
von kontaminierten Medizinprodukten strikt ab-
zulehnen. Medizinprodukte sind direkt vor Ort zu
dekontaminieren, um Kontakt- und aerogene Infek-
tionen (beim Personal) zu vermeiden. Wir behalten
uns das Recht vor, kontaminierte Instrumente an
den Absender zurückzuschicken.
Reparaturen, Änderungen oder Erweiterungen,
die nicht von KARL STORZ durchgeführt werden,
führen zum Verlust aller Garantieansprüche.
KARL STORZ übernimmt keine Garantie für die
Funktionsfähigkeit von Geräten oder Instrumenten,
deren Reparatur durch nicht autorisierte Dritte
durchgeführt wurde.
7.5 Entsorgung
Dieses Gerät ist entsprechend der europäischen
Richtlinie über Elektro- und Elektronik- Altgeräte
(waste electrical and electronic equipment - WEEE)
gekennzeichnet. Nach Ablauf derLebensdauer

not performed by KARL STORZ will invalidate all
warranty rights. KARL STORZ gives no warranty on
the correct functioning of equipment or instruments
which have been repaired by unauthorized third
parties.
7.5 Disposal
This device has been marked in accordance with
the European Directive on waste electrical and
electronic equipment (WEEE). At the end of its use-
ful operating life, dispose of the device as electron-
ic scrap. Please ask KARL STORZ SE & Co. KG,
a KARL STORZ subsidiary, or your authorized
dealer about the collection point in your area.
Within the scope of application of this Directive,
KARL STORZ SE & Co. KG is responsible for the
proper disposal of this device.
7.6 Directive compliance

This medical device bears a CE mark in accor-

8 Wartung
Eine vorbeugende Wartung ist nicht zwingend
erforderlich. Regelmäßige Wartungen können aber
dazu beitragen, eventuelle Störungen frühzeitig zu
erkennen und so die Sicherheit und Lebensdauer
des Gerätes zu erhöhen. Wartungsdienste können
bei Ihrer zuständigen Gebietsvertretung oder beim
Hersteller erfragt werden.
8.1 Sicherheitsüberprüfung
Unabhängig von den in den verschiedenen Ländern
vorgeschriebenen Unfallverhütungsvorschriften
oder Prüfungsintervallen für Medizingeräte müssen
an diesem Gerät folgende Kontrollen mindestens
einmal im Jahr von Personen durchgeführt werden,
die aufgrund Ihrer Ausbildung, ihrer Kenntnisse
und ihrer durch praktische Tätigkeit gewonnene

8 Maintenance
Preventive maintenance is not essential. Regular
maintenance can, however, contribute to identifying
potential problems before they become serious,
thus enhancing the device's reliability and extend-
ing its useful service life. Maintenance services can
be requested from your local representative or from
the manufacturer.
8.1 Safety check
Regardless of the accident prevention regulations
or testing intervals for medical devices prescribed
in different countries, the following checks must be
carried out on this device at least once a year by
persons who, due to their training, knowledge and
practical experience, are able to properly carry out
such safety checks and who are not subject to any
instructions as far as such checking activities are
concerned.

8 Mantenimiento

Die E-Box TP012 ist für den Einsatz in professi-
onellen Einrichtungen des Gesundheitswesens
geeignet.
Professionelle Einrichtungen des Gesundheits-
wesens umfassen Arztpraxen, Zahnarztpraxen,
Einrichtungen für begrenzte Pege, freistehende
chirurgische Zentren, freistehende Geburtshäuser,
mehrere Behandlungseinrichtungen, Krankenhäuser
(Notaufnahmen, Patientenzimmer, Intensivstationen,
Operationsräume, außerhalb des HF-geschirmten
Raumes eines ME-Systems für die Magnetreso-
nanztomographie).
3WARNUNG: Tragbare HF-
Kommunikationsgeräte (einschließlich Peri-
pheriegeräte wie Antennenkabel und exter-

10.1 Electromagnetic Compatibility
The E-Box TP012 is suitable for use in professional
healthcare facility environment.
Professional healthcare facility includes physici-
an ofces, dental ofces, limited care facilities,
freestanding surgical centers, freestanding birth
centers, multiple treatment facilities, hospitals
(emergency rooms, patient rooms, intensive care,
surgical rooms, outside the RF shielded room of an
ME system for magnetic resonance imaging).
3WARNING: Portable RF communications
equipment (including peripherals such as
antenna cables and external antennas)
should be used no closer than 30cm
(12inches) to any part of the E-Box TP012
including cables specified by the manufac-
turer. Otherwise, degradation of the perfor-
mance of this equipment could result.
1NOTE: The emission characteristics of this
equipment make it suitable for use in profes-
sional healthcare environment as well as
residential environment (CISPR11 ClassB).
This equipment offers adequate protection
to radio communication service. In the rare
event of interference to the radio communi-
cation service, the user might need to take
mitigation measures, such as relocating or
re-orienting equipment.
3WARNING: HF (high-frequency) surgical
equipment can influence the operation of
the device and may not be operated in
combination with the E-Box TP012.

10.1 Compatibilidad electromagnética
El E-Box TP012, es adecuado para utilizarse en es-
tablecimientos profesionales de atención sanitaria.
Entre los establecimientos profesionales de aten-
ción sanitaria se incluyen consultorios médicos,
consultorios odontológicos, unidades de cuidados
limitados, centros quirúrgicos independientes,
centros de parto independientes, varias unidades
de tratamiento, hospitales (salas de urgencias,
habitaciones de pacientes, unidades de cuidados
intensivos, quirófanos, fuera del recinto blindado
para RF de un sistema electromédico de tomografía
por resonancia magnética).
3CUIDADO: Los aparatos de comunicación
portátiles de RF (incluidos los módulos
periféricos con cables de antenas o
antenas externas) deben utilizarse a
una distancia no menor de 30 cm (12
