Before installing your Stûv fireplace, please contact the
local building authorities to obtain the necessary
permits and information about applicable regulations.
The installation of your fireplace should be entrusted to a
skilled professional. Failure to install the fireplace correctly
can cause a fire.
Do not install the fireplace in a mobile home.
Do not connect the fireplace to an air distribution duct or
system.
The instructions for the installation of your fireplace comply
with the above standards. Please follow the instructions
closely to avoid any potential problems.
Please read this manual carefully before installing or using
your fireplace. Incorrect installation may result in fire. To
reduce the risk of fire, follow the installation instructions.
Failure to do so may result in property damage, bodily
injury, or even death.
Keep this manual handy so you can refer to it whenever
necessary.

installed and serviced by professionals certified by the
Association des Professionnels du Chauffage in Quebec
or by Wood Energy Technology Training for the rest of
Canada, or by the National Fireplace Institute in the U.S

ATTENTION!

D) Ne pas brûler de déchets, plastiques, essence,
caoutchouc, solvants industriels, liquides inflammables,
pétrole, déchets ménagers, matériaux à base de produits
pétroliers, feuilles, papiers, cartons, bois extrait d’eau
salée et séché, bois peint, toute substance émettant des
fumées denses et des odeurs fortes.
E) Ne pas connecter le foyer à un système de distribution
d’air chaud.
F) Équipez votre maison d’un détecteur de fumées et de
moniteurs monoxyde carbone
G) L’appareil est chaud lorsqu’en fonction. Gardez les
enfants, vêtements et meubles hors de portée. Toucher
l’appareil pourrait causer des brûlures.
H) Ne laissez pas le foyer chauffer au point où des
parties deviennent rougeoyantes.
I) Brûlez le bois de chauffage directement sur les briques
réfractaires ou la fonte.
J) N’utilisez pas de chenet et n’essayez pas de surélever
le feu de quelque façon.
K) Ne pas installer dans une maison mobile.
L) Ne Pas surchauffer. Essayer de dépasser la vitesse
de combustion unique de cet appareil peut endommager
de manière permanente le foyer.
M)Jamais utiliser de l'essence, du carburant de lanterne
à base d'essence, du kérosène, du liquide de charbon

N) Do not use grates, andirons, or other methods of
supporting the fuel.
WARNING!
A) Do not use chemicals or fluids to light the fire.
B) Do not leave the fireplace unattended when the door
is slightly open.
C) Always close the door after the ignition.
D) Do not use as fuel: trash, plastics, gasoline, rubber,
industrial solvents,flammable liquids,naphtha, household
garbage, material treated with petroleum products,
leaves, paper products, cardboard, saltwater driftwood,
painted wood, any substance that emits dense smoke or
an obnoxious odor.
E) Do not connect the fireplace to any hot air distribution
system.
F) Equip your house with a smoke detector and carbon
monoxide monitors.
G) Hot while in operation. Keep children, clothing and
furniture away. Contact may cause skin burns.
H) Do not let the fireplace heat up until some parts glow
red.
I) Burn the firewood directly on the refractor plates or
the iron.
J) Do not use an andiron and do not try in any way to
raise the fire.
K) Do not install in a mobile home.
L) Do not overfire. Attempts to achieve heat output
rates that exceed fireplace design specifications can
result in permanent damage to the fireplace.
M) Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel,
kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, or similar liquids to start
or ’freshen up’ a fire in this fireplace. Keep all such liquids
well away from the fireplace while it is in use.

Nous vous recommandons instamment de confier
l’installation de votre Stûv à un professionnel qualifié qui
pourra notamment vérifier que les caractéristiques du
conduit de fumées correspondent au foyer installé.
L’installation de l’appareil doit être conforme à tous les
règlements locaux et nationaux.
Certaines parties du foyer peuvent être très chaudes lors de
son utilisation à puissance nominale.
Le rayonnement de la vitre peut être important. Veiller
à ce que les matériaux situés à proximité du foyer
soient suffisamment distants pour éviter tout risque
d’endommagement.
Toute modification apportée à l’appareil peut créer un
danger. En outre, l’appareil ne sera plus couvert par la
garantie.
Une fois le foyer installé, remettez cette notice à
l’utilisateur et recommandez-lui de renvoyer le certificat de
garantie à Stûv America (voir fin de notice).
Attention !
Retirer le carton qui cache l’ouverture du foyer et vérifier
que la vitre ne s’est pas brisée au cours de la livraison
(photos 2 et 3).
La garantie ne couvre les détériorations dues au transport
que si elles sont signalées dans les 48 heures de la livraison.
We strongly recommend that you entrust the installation
of your fireplace to a skilled professional to ensure that the
characteristics of the flue are compatible with the fireplace
installed.
The unit must be installed in compliance with all local and
national regulations.
Some parts of the fireplace can become very hot when
operating at its rated power.
The glass door may radiate significant heat. Please make
sure that materials used in the proximity of the fireplace are
located a safe distance away to avoid any possible damage.
Modification of the unit can be dangerous.
Any modification will also invalidate the warranty.
When the fireplace has been installed, please give this
manual to the user and recommend that they return the
completed Warranty certificate to Stûv America (see end of
manual).
Caution!
Remove the cardboard covering the opening of the
fireplace and make sure the glass door has not been
damaged during delivery (photo 2 and 3).
The warranty covers transport damages providing you
contact Stûv within 48 hours of delivery.

En cas de réclamation, communiquez toujours le n° de
série du foyer visible sur la partie supérieure droite de la
devanture, dans le retour (photo 4).
– Un pied de biche

– Une visseuse (douille de 10 mm et embouts cruciformes)
– Un tournevis plat

– Une clé Allen de 3 mm et de 5 mm

Remarque :
– Pour le transport, la vitre est immobilisée en position
intermédiaire.
– La peinture n’est pas cuite au four ; elle est donc
relativement fragile mais elle durcira lors des premières
chauffes ; par conséquent, manipuler l’appareil avec
précaution lors de son installation.
– Retirer la bande de protection de la vitre (photo 6).
– À l’aide du pied de biche, retirer les lattes verticales avant
(photo 7).
– Retirer la coiffe supérieure de l’emballage (photo 8).
For warranty coverage, please provide the manufacturer’s
serial number, which is visible on the upper-right section of
the opening (photo 4).

- For transport, the window is secured in its intermediate
position.
- The paint is not oven-baked and is therefore relatively
fragile, but it will harden when heated. Care should be
taken when handling the unit during installation.
- Remove protective strip from window (photograph 6).
- Remove vertical front slats with crowbar (photo 7).
- Remove top section of packing (photo 8).

Moving Déplacement
Vous pouvez déplacer le foyer de 3 manières différentes :
– avec un transpalette : le laisser sur sa palette.
– avec un diable : basculer le foyer sur son dos, laisser la
palette sur place.
– avec les poignées conçues à cet effet : elles sont
réversibles (p.ex. placement sur un socle).
Attention !

Attention !
Une fois le foyer à proximité de son emplacement final,
débloquer les contrepoids à l’aide de la clé Allen 3mm
(photo 4). Ne pas oublier d’effectuer cette opération avant
d’encastrer le foyer dans la niche. Vérifier que la vitre
coulisse correctement ; la remonter ensuite au maximum
(photo 5). Vérifier que les câbles des contres-poids sont
logés dans les gorges des poulies (photo 6).
Ne jamais basculer la porte de plus de 90°.
There are three different ways of moving the fireplace:
- using a forklift: leave it on the pallet
-with a two-wheel hand trolley: tilt the fireplace
backwards and leave the pallet in place
-with the reversible handles designed for this purpose:
(e.g. when placing the unit on a base).

Caution!
Once the fireplace has been moved near its final location,
unlock the counterweights using the 3mm Allen key
(photograph 4). Remember to perform this operation
before inserting the fireplace into the enclosure. Make sure
the window moves properly, then raise it to its full height
(photograph 5). Check that the counterweight cables run
in the grooves of the pulleys (photograph 6).
Never tilt the door more than 90°.
